The accuracy of change detection on the earth’s surface is important for understanding the relationships and interactions between human and natural phenomena. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have the potential to provide accurate information regarding land use and land cover changes. In this paper, we investigate the major techniques that are utilized to detect land use and land cover changes. Eleven change detection techniques are reviewed. An analysis of the related literature shows that the most used techniques are post-classification comparison and principle component analysis. Post-classification comparison can minimize the impacts of atmospheric and sensor differences between two dates. Image differencing and image ratioing are easy to implement, but at times they do not provide accurate results. Hybrid change detection is a useful technique that makes full use of the benefits of many techniques, but it is complex and depends on the characteristics of the other techniques such as supervised and unsupervised classifications. Change vector analysis is complicated to implement, but it is useful for providing the direction and magnitude of change. Recently, artificial neural networks, chi-square, decision tree and image fusion have been frequently used in change detection. Research on integrating remote sensing data and GIS into change detection has also increased.

The essential task of integrated electricity-heat systems(IEHSs)is to provide customers with reliable electric and heating *** the perspective of customers,it is reasonable to analyze the reliabilities of IEHSs based on the ability to provide energy services with a reasonable assurance of continuity and quality,which are termed as service-based *** to the thermal inertia existing in IEHSs,the heating service performances can present slow dynamic characteristics,which has a great impact on the service satisfaction of *** neglect of such thermal dynamics will bring about inaccurate service-based reliability measurement,which can lead to the inefficient dispatch decisions of system ***,it is necessary to provide a tool which can analyze the servicebased reliabilities of IEHSs considering the impacts of thermal *** paper firstly models the energy service performance of IEHSs in contingency ***,the nodal energy supplies are obtained from the optimal power and heat flow model under both variable hydraulic and thermal conditions,in which the transmission-side thermal dynamics are *** this basis,the energy service performances for customers are further determined with the formulation of demandside thermal ***,a service-based reliability analysis framework for the IEHSs is proposed utilizing the timesequential Monte Carlo simulation(TSMCS)technique with the embedded decomposition ***,the indices for quantifying service-based reliabilities are defined based on the traditional reliability indices,where dynamic service performances and service satisfactions of customers are both *** simulations are carried out with a test system to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

Cigarette smoking(CS)induced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is third leading cause of global pulmonary health ***,there is no effective therapeutic strategy to control perpetuating inflammatory response in *** aim of current study was to investigate the protective effects of piperine in CS-induced murine model of *** of experimental animals to cigarettes smoke twice daily for 10 weeks resulted in increased production of pro-inflammatory mediators including IL-1β,IL-8,TNF-α,LTB-4 and neutrophil elastase(NE)in bronchoalveolar(BAL)*** stress biomarkers,malondialdehyde(MDA),myeloperoxidase(MPO),nitric oxide and MMP9 also significantly increased in CS-control mice lungs as compared to normal control group(P<0.001).Moreover,CS also increased recruitment of inflammatory cells,neutrophils and macrophages into BAL fluid and altered breathing rate and tidal volume as compared to normal control ***,oral treatment of CS-exposed animals with test drug,piperine(10 mg/kg,*** 20 mg/kg,b.w.)or reference standard methyl prednisolone(3.25 mg/kg,b.w.)for 21 days or 7 days,respectively,significantly(p<0.05,0.01,0.001)improved pulmonary function and reversed CS-induced production of cytokines,oxidative stress biomarkers and other biochemicals as compared to CS-exposed control ***,In silico molecular docking studies exhibited attractive binding affinity of piperine for human neutrophil elastase,MMP-9,MPO and IL-8 *** of our study suggest protective effect of piperine in experimental animals by repressing CS-induced infiltration of inflammatory cells and thereby exaggerated production of pro-inflammatory mediators and oxidative stress.

Land use/land cover (LULC) changes have become a central issue in current global change and sustainability research. Saudi Arabia has undergone significant change in land use and land cover since the government embarked on a course of intense national development 30 years ago, as a result of huge national oil revenues. This study evaluates LULC change in Makkah and Al-Taif, Saudi Arabia from 1986 to 2013 using Landsat images. Maximum likelihood and object-oriented classification were used to develop LULC maps. The change detection was executed using post-classification comparison and GIS. The results indicated that urban areas have increased over the period by approximately 174% in Makkah and 113% in Al-Taif. Analysis of vegetation cover over the study area showed a variable distribution from year to year due to changing average precipitation in this environment. Object-based classification provided slightly greater accuracy than maximum likelihood classification. Information provided by satellite remote sensing can play an important role in quantifying and understanding the relationship between population growth and LULC changes, which can assist future planning and potential environmental impacts of expanding urban areas.

Design and development of novel bioadhesive niosomal formulation for the transcorneal delivery of anti-infective agent:In-vitro and ex-vivo investigations

Gatifloxacin eye drops are frequently used in eye *** such formulations have a major drawback *** duration of action and usually require 4e6 times installations daily.A chitosan coated niosomal formulation of gatifloxain was purposed to show a longer retention time on eyes and subsequent reduction in dosing *** were prepared by solvent injection method using cholesterol and *** extensive optimization of formulation was done using different ratios of cholesterol,Span-60 and drug,revealed NS60-5(cholesterol:span-6050:50 and drug content of 20 mg)to be the optimized niosome ***60-5 had shown a highest entrapment efficiency of 64.9±0.66%with particle size 213.2±1.5 nm and zeta potential34.7±2.2 *** niosomes were also coated with different concentrations of chitosan and *** studies had revealed that optimized niosomes(86.77±1.31%)had increased the transcorneal permeation of Gatifloxacin more than two fold than simple drug solution(37.19±1.1%).Longer retention potential of the coated niosomes was further verified by fluorescence *** revealed that simple dye solution got easily washed out with in 6 *** uncoated niosomes(NS60-5)showed a longer retention(more than 6 h),which was further enhanced in case of coated niosomes ***60-1(more than 12 h).Antimicrobial studies had shown the better efficacy of CNS60-1(zone of inhibition)when compared to marketed *** final chitosan formulation was found to have shown better ocular tolerability as demonstrated by corneal hydration test histopathology investigations.

This paper proposes a horizontal displacement-based approach to determine the potential slip surface of the slope. Firstly, a group of in-situ inclinometers with an appropriate spacing in the horizontal direction is located in the model *** equation of horizontal displacement with time for each in-situ inclinometer is fitted during the whole simulation process. Furthermore, the intersection of each inclinometer with potential slip surface is determined by using an optimization model. The slip surface can be obtained by using least square fitting method. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of the method are validated by a series of numerical simulations. It is noted that the optimization model taking the maximum value of displacement increment gradient as an objective has higher accuracy when compared with other optimization models. This method employed in this study provides a preliminary approach to determine the real-time slope stability based on displacement, which can also be measured by using conventional instruments on site.

Introduction Unconventional alternatives such as aerobic and anaerobic effluent from starch industry contain essential nutrients for Btk active ingredient *** from starch industry is rich in carbon and nitrogen and can replace expensive feedstock used during the fermentation *** The main objective of this study was to achieve a biopesticide formulation from starch industry wastewater(SIW)with high entomotoxicity(UI/ml)of larvae comparable to Foray 76B,which is a commercial *** Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki HD1(Btk)strain was cultivated and sub-cultured to aerobic,anaerobic digested effluent and ***-treatment was carried on these different substrates to enhance the residual carbon required for Btk growth and delta endotoxin *** 48 hours of fermentation,cells count and delta-endotoxin were determined.A biopesticide formulation containing fermented broth and adjuvants was fed to larvae to determine larvae *** Btk cell growth and sporulation profile in SIW media displayed a high total cell count and viable spores compared to btk growth in anaerobic or aerobic media after 48h *** maximum endotoxin concentration in the SIW medium was 435μg/mL,whereas,in anaerobic and aerobic effluent,the maximum concentrations were at 161μg/mL and 136μg/mL,*** acidic treatment was performed at pH 2 for these substrates,entomotoxicity obtained from aerobic and anaerobic biopesticide formulations displayed significantly higher entomoxicity than the untreated *** entomotoxicity of SIW treated at pH 2 was equivalent to the standard Foray 76B which is 20,000 IU/μ*** Anaerobic and aerobic effluent did not contain enough total organic carbon to augment Btk growth and *** pre-treated at pH 2 provided significant organic matter for Btk growth and resulted in larval mortality equivalent to the com ercial biopesticide Foray 76B.

Cr （Ⅲ） Removal from Synthetic Waste Water by Using Water Pond Mud

The pollution of aquatic ecosystem by heavy metals has assumed serious proportions due to their toxicity and accumulative behavior. The toxicity metal is dependent on its chemical form and therefore removal of metal is more meaningful than the estimation of its concentrations. In this study, the batch experiments were carried out under 30℃ to study the effect of pH, initial Cr concentration, adsorbent dose and contact time on the removal of Cr （lII）. The maximum adsorption efficiency （99%） was observed when 1.5 g of pond mud was used for removal ofCr （Ⅲ） from test solution containing 150 mg·Cr / 100 ml. The optimal pH and contact time recorded during the study were 6 and 10.0, respectively.

We report an important observation that the surface conductivity of antibody layer immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate decreases upon the formation of complex with their specific antigens. This change in conductivity has been observed for both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. The conductance of monoclonal mouse 1gG immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate changed from 1.02×10^-8 Ω^-1 to 1.41×10^-11 Ω^-1 at 10 V when complex is formed due to the specific biomolecular interactions with rabbit anti-mouse 1gG F（ab′）2. Similar behavior was observed when the same set up was tested in two clinical assays：（1） anti-Leishmania antigen polyclonal antibodies taken from Kala Azar positive patient serum interacting with Leishmania promastigote antigen, and （2） anti-p21 polyclonal antibodies interacting with p21 antigen. The proposed concept can represent a new immunodiagnostic technique and may have wide ranging applications in biosensors and nanobiotechnology too.
