An <i>in Vitro</i>Approach for the Conservation of <i>Meizotropis pellita</i>: An Endangered and Endemic Plant

An efficient protocol for high frequency in vitro regeneration of Meizotropis pellita an endangered and endemic plant was developed. In vitro germination of the seeds of Patwa was achieved successfully after incubation for 10 -15 days and plantlets up to a height of 5 -7 cm with profuse rooting were observed after incubation for 7 weeks in hormone free MS medium. This in vitro germination totally reduced contamination that used to occur in the explant taken from the field. Callus induction and proliferation were observed in leaf explants after 15 -20 days of incubation in MS medium containing 2 -4, D (9.06 μM) alone or in combination with 2 -4, D (9.06 μM) + 2-iP (7.38 μM). Shoot regeneration was achieved from 2 months old callus explant in MS medium supplemented with BA (17.6 μM) + GA3 (1.0 μM). Shoot multiplication was also achieved from cotyledonary node of M. pellita in MS medium supplemented with Kinetin + GA3 (4.6 μM + 1.0 μM) or BA (13.2, 17.6 μM) + GA3 (1.0 μM) after 30 -45 days of incubation. IBA (4.9 μM) was more effective in root regeneration from micro shoots. The plantlets after acclimatization over a period of 1 month were further hardened in a polyhouse for two months. On the basis of available literature this is the first and significant study regarding the comparative effect of different PGRs on in-vitro propagation of Meizotropis pellita by using different explants and their subsequent effect on rooting. This significant study could be useful for large scale production of successfully hardened plants and conservation of this shrub.

Inflammation and Its Role in Prostate Cancer

Infections and inflammatory responses are linked to 20% - 300% of all deaths from cancer worldwide. Inflammatory responses play crucial roles at different stages of tumor development, including initiation, promotion, malignant conversion, invasion, and metastasis. Several studies point to an important role of inflammation in prostate growth, although the contribution of inflammation to benign prostate cancer is not completely understood. The basic and clinical research in the area, trying to understand the etiology of prostatic inflammation and its signaling pathway may help to develop the novel therapeutic interventions against prostate cancer development triggered by inflammation.

Use of stereotactic radiosurgery in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies:A review

Recent retrospective studies have reported the use ofstereotactic radiosurgery(SRS) in the treatment of gy-necologic cancers. SRS uses real-time imaging and highdose radiation beams attached to precise robotic armsto target malignant lesions while sparing normal *** purpose of this review is to examine the indicationsfor SRS in gynecologic oncology, review the currentliterature regarding the use of SRS in gynecologic can-cers, and identify future directions for research in thisarea. Literature on stereotactic radiosurgery was re-viewed using the PubMed search engine. Articles writ-ten in English from 1993-2013 were reviewed, and 20 case series and clinical trials were included. The safetyand efficacy SRS has been demonstrated in all gyne-cologic disease sites including cervical, endometrial,vulvar, vaginal, and ovarian cancers. Indications for itsuse include non-central pelvic recurrences in previouslyirradiated patients, complex or non-resectable diseaserecurrence, and solitary brain metastases. Toxicitiesare usually mild, though grade 3-4 toxicities have been reported. SRS is a promising second line treatment modality for patients with primary or recurrent disease who cannot undergo standard surgical or radiation therapy. Further research is required to determine optimal dosing and fractionation schedules, delineate appropriate patient populations, and assess longterm morbidity and survival.

Spherical Gravitational Collapse of Anisotropic Radiating Fluid Sphere

We here present a relativistic model for a spherically symmetric anisotropic fluid to study the various factors of physical and thermal phenomenon during the evolution of a collapsing star dissipating energy in the form of radial heat flow. We also proposed a table of some new parametric class of solutions which will be useful for constructing the new compact star models. The constructed algorithm obeys all the relevant requirements of a realistic model and matched with Vaidya exterior metric over the boundary. At the initial stage the interior solutions represent a static configuration of perfect fluid which then gradually starts evolving into radiating collapse. The apparent luminosity as observed by the distant observer at rest at infinity and the effective surface temperature are zero in remote past at the instant when collapse begins and at the stage when collapsing configuration reaches the horizon of the black hole.

We report an important observation that the surface conductivity of antibody layer immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate decreases upon the formation of complex with their specific antigens. This change in conductivity has been observed for both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. The conductance of monoclonal mouse 1gG immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate changed from 1.02×10^-8 Ω^-1 to 1.41×10^-11 Ω^-1 at 10 V when complex is formed due to the specific biomolecular interactions with rabbit anti-mouse 1gG F（ab′）2. Similar behavior was observed when the same set up was tested in two clinical assays：（1） anti-Leishmania antigen polyclonal antibodies taken from Kala Azar positive patient serum interacting with Leishmania promastigote antigen, and （2） anti-p21 polyclonal antibodies interacting with p21 antigen. The proposed concept can represent a new immunodiagnostic technique and may have wide ranging applications in biosensors and nanobiotechnology too.

Phytochemical analysis and antioxidant profile of methanolic extract of seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour.

Objective: To analyze the phytochemical constituents responsible for the plausible antioxidant effect of methanolic extract of the seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour. Methods: Fresh seed, pulp, and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora fruits were extracted with methanol(MEBRse, MEBRpu, MEBRpe) and evaluated by phytochemical analysis for their content of innumerable metabolites(primary and secondary) viz. carbohydrates, alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, proteins, and fixed oils. The antioxidant efficacy was assessed through different assay methods viz. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, total antioxidant capacity(TAC) and reducing power capacity(RPC). Estimation of total phenolic content(TPC), and total flavonoid content(TFC) was also done to confirm the presence of these phytochemicals. Results: It was revealed from the phytochemical analysis of MEBRse that alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, phenols, and flavonoids were present, while that of MEBRpu showed the existence of carbohydrates, proteins, alkaloids, glycosides, phenols, saponins, flavonoids, and fixed oils. Presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, and terpenoids were found in the MEBRpe. A significant antioxidant activity was revealed by the MEBRpu [EC_(50):(27.612 ± 1.375) μg/mL], compared to MEBRpe, and MEBRse in DPPH assay. The ranking order for RPC was MEBRpu > MEBRpe > MEBRse respectively. The EC_(50) value of TAC of the MEBRpu, MEBRpe, and MEBRse were(25.107 ±0.744) μg/mL,(241.127 ± 7.463) μg/mL and(372.364 ± 11.030) μg/mL, respectively. Quantity of TPC and TFC were the highest in the MEBRpu(124.360 ± 2.078 mg GAE/g and 107.527 ±1.900 mg QRE/g extract) rather than MEBRpe and MEBRse extracts. Conclusions: This study suggests that MEBRpu has a significantly higher antioxidant property than MEBRpe and MEBRse. Well Behaved Parametric Class of Exact Solutions of Einstein-Maxwell Field Equations in General Relativity

We present a new well behaved class of exact solutions of Einstein-Maxwell field equations. This solution describes charge fluid balls with positively finite central pressure, positively finite central density;their ratio is less than one and causality condition is obeyed at the centre. The gravitational red shift is positive throughout positive within the ball. Outmarch of pressure, density, pressure-density ratio, the adiabatic speed of sound and gravitational red shift is monotonically decreasing, however, the electric intensity is monotonically increasing in nature. The solution gives us wide range of parameter K (0.72 ≤ K ≤ 2.41) for which the solution is well behaved hence, suitable for modeling of super dense star. For this solution the mass of a star is maximized with all degree of suitability and by assuming the surface density ρb = 2 × 1014g/cm3. Corresponding to K = 0.72 with X = 0.15, the resulting well behaved model has the mass M = 1.94 MΘ with radius rb ? 15.2 km and for K = 2.41 with X = 0.15, the resulting well behaved model has the mass M = 2.26 MΘ with radius rb ? 14.65 km.

Dependence of Nanotextured Titanium Orthopedic Surfaces on Electrolyte Condition

Electrochemical etching of titanium alloy in a fluoride-containing electrolyte results in ordered nanotextured surfaces. The reproducibility of nanotextured surfaces depends on several process parameters, most notably the fluoride ion concentration in the electrolyte. In the present work, electrochemical etching of Ti6Al4V alloy foils in ethylene glycol containing 0.66 wt% NH4F and 2% deionized water was carried out at 60 V for 45 minutes. This paper describes the depletion of fluoride ion concentration and contamination of electrolyte upon reuse. Inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy was used to measure the dissolution of metal oxides in the electrolyte during etching. We found increasing concentration of the alloy elements Ti, Al, V contaminated the electrolyte due to repeated reuse of the electrolyte. The results show an appreciable log-linear depletion of fluoride ion concentration resulting in a changed surface morphology, chemical composition and etched volume. This paper provides an important insight to changes in surface morphology and surface chemistry with extended reuse of the etching electrolyte, useful for regulatory approvals.

Does Climatic Variability Influence Agricultural Land Prices under Differing Uses? The Texas High Plains Case

The Texas High Plains faces projections of increasing temperature and declining precipitation in the future on account of its semi-arid climate. This research evaluated the impact of climatic variability on agricultural land prices under different land uses in the Texas High Plains, employing the Ricardian approach of land climate pricing over a study period of 1991-2011. The results indicate that climatic variability had a greater impact on irrigated land prices as compared to dryland and ranchland. This study could be instrumental in predictive market analyses of rural land values in semi-arid economies which are vulnerable to future climate change.
