Article 59.1,of the International Code of Nomenclature for Algae,Fungi,and Plants(ICN;Melbourne Code),which addresses the nomenclature of pleomorphic fungi,became effective from 30 July 2011.since that date,each fungal species can have one nomenclaturally correct name in a particular classification.All other previously used names for this species will be considered as synonyms.The older generic epithet takes priority over the younger name.Any widely used younger names proposed for use,must comply with Art.57.2 and their usage should be approved by the Nomenclature Committee for Fungi(NCF).In this paper,we list all genera currently accepted by us in Dothideomycetes(belonging to 23 orders and 110 families),including pleomorphic and nonpleomorphic genera.In the case of pleomorphic genera,we follow the rulings of the current ICN and propose single generic names for future usage.The taxonomic placements of 1261 genera are listed as an outline.Protected names and suppressed names for 34 pleomorphic genera are listed separately.Notes and justifications are provided for possible proposed names after the list of genera.Notes are also provided on recent advances in our understanding of asexual and sexual morph linkages in Dothideomycetes.A phylogenetic tree based on four gene analyses supported 23 orders and 75 families,while 35 families still lack molecular data.

sordariomycetes is one of the largest classes of Ascomycota that comprises a highly diverse range of fungi characterized mainly by perithecial ascomata and inoperculate unitunicate asci.The class includes many important plant pathogens,as well as endophytes,saprobes,epiphytes,coprophilous and fungicolous,lichenized or lichenicolous taxa.They occur in terrestrial,freshwater and marine habitats worldwide.This paper reviews the 107 families of the class sordariomycetes and provides a modified backbone tree based on phylogenetic analysis of four combined loci,with a maximum five representative taxa from each family,where available.This paper brings together for the first time,since Barrs’1990 Prodromus,descriptions,notes on the history,and plates or illustrations of type or representative taxa of each family,a list of accepted genera,including asexual genera and a key to these taxa of sordariomycetes.Delineation of taxa is supported where possible by molecular data.The outline is based on literature to the end of 2015 and the sordariomycetes now comprises six subclasses,32 orders,105 families and 1331 genera.The family Obryzaceae and Pleurotremataceae are excluded from the class.

This paper is the second in a series focused on providing a stable platform for the taxonomy of phytopathogenic fungi.It focuses on 25 phytopathogenic genera:Alternaria,Bipolaris,Boeremia,Botryosphaeria,Calonectria,Coniella,Corticiaceae,Curvularia,Elsinoe,Entyloma,Erythricium,Fomitiporia,Fulviformes,Laetisaria,Limonomyces,Neofabraea,Neofusicoccum,Phaeoacremonium,Phellinotus,Phyllosticta,Plenodomus,Pseudopyricularia,Tilletia,Venturia and Waitea,using recent molecular data,up to date names and the latest taxonomic insights.For each genus a taxonomic background,diversity aspects,species identification and classification based on molecular phylogeny and recommended genetic markers are provided.In this study,varieties of the genus Boeremia have been elevated to species level.Botryosphaeria,Bipolaris,Curvularia,Neofusicoccum and Phyllosticta that were included in the One stop shop 1 paper are provided with updated entries,as many new species have been introduced to these genera.

Tea leaf spot was an important disease of tea plant(Camellia sinensis) in Yuqing county,Guizhou province.The disease mainly damaged the young leaves and shoots tea,and then led to a huge loss of tea leaves.Early symptoms were light brown spots,which was gradually increased in size and developed into brown,scattered,elliptical or irregular lesions.The lesions later became greyish at the central,and then were surrounded by an apparent bright yellow halo.The adjacent lesions have been merged to the larger lesion,which was covered the margin of the leaves.In this study,we isolated and identified some fungi from tea leaves samples with the symptoms of leaf spot,and then conducted the pathogenicity test using Koch’s rule.The colony was white to pale yellow and produced masses of flocculent aerial mycelium,with an average growth rate of 12.9±0.062 mm/d on PDA after 7 days of post-inoculation in the dark.The colony displayed pale yellow on reverse side.After 22 days of post-inoculation,the colonies represented white to rosy buff.Pycnidia produced on PDA were usually globose to subglobose,scattered or gregarious,olivaceous to olivaceous black.The unicellular and hyaline conidia represent ellipsoidal or obovate,(4.09-9.04) μm×(1.77-4.06)μm,which usually became rounded in both ends.28 s nrDNA(LsU),internal transcribed spacer(ITs),β-tubulin 2(β-TUB2)was amplified with the primer pair LR0 R/LR7,V9 G/ITs4,Btub2 Fd/Btub4 Rd for the isolates,and then the sequences were deposited in GenBank.Maximum parsimony phylogenetic analysis based on concatenated sequences of combined ITs(1-493),LsU(494-1897),β-TUB2(1898-2254) indicated that the isolate GZYQ-5-2-b was identical to reference strains Didymella bellidis PD 94/886,and the clade was supported by 100% bootstrap values.To fulfill Koch’s postulates,the tea leaves of two tea varieties(Moss tea and Fuding Dabai cha) were inoculated with mycelial plugs on PDA or the spore suspension(1×10 spores per mL) using the methods of unwound and wound.The symptoms for punctureor cut-treatment dev

Taxonomic names are key links between various databases that store information on different organisms.several global fungal nomenclural and taxonomic databases(notably Index Fungorum,species Fungorum and MycoBank)can be sourced to find taxonomic details about fungi,while DNA sequence data can be sourced from NCBI,EBI and UNITE databases.Although the sequence data may be linked to a name,the quality of the metadata is variable and generally there is no corresponding link to images,descriptions or herbarium material.There is generally no way to establish the accuracy of the names in these genomic databases,other than whether the submission is from a reputable source.To tackle this problem,a new database(FacesofFungi),accessible at ***(FoF)has been established.This fungal database allows deposition of taxonomic data,phenotypic details and other useful data,which will enhance our current taxonomic understanding and ultimately enable mycologists to gain better and updated insights into the current fungal classification system.In addition,the database will also allow access to comprehensive metadata including descriptions of voucher and type specimens.This database is user-friendly,providing links and easy access between taxonomic ranks,with the classification system based primarily on molecular data(from the literature and via updated web-based phylogenetic trees),and to a lesser extent on morphological data when molecular data are unavailable.In FoF species are not only linked to the closest phylogenetic representatives,but also relevant data is provided,wherever available,on various applied aspects,such as ecological,industrial,quarantine and chemical uses.The data include the three main fungal groups(Ascomycota,Basidiomycota,Basal fungi)and fungus-like organisms.The FoF webpage is an output funded by the Mushroom Research Foundation which is an NGO with seven directors with mycological expertise.The webpage has 76 curators,and with the help of these specialists,FoF will provide an updated natural classification of

Numerous new taxa and classifications of Dothideomycetes have been published following the last monograph of families of Dothideomycetes in 2013.A recent publication by Honsanan et al.in 2020 expanded information of families in Dothideo-mycetidae and Pleosporomycetidae with modern classifications.In this paper,we provide a refined updated document on orders and families incertae sedis of Dothideomycetes.Each family is provided with an updated description,notes,including figures to represent the morphology,a list of accepted genera,and economic and ecological significances.We also provide phylogenetic trees for each order.In this study,31 orders which consist 50 families are assigned as orders incertae sedis in Dothideomycetes,and 41 families are treated as families incertae sedis due to lack of molecular or morphological evidence.The new order,Catinellales,and four new families,Catinellaceae,Morenoinaceae Neobuelliellaceae and Thyrinulaceae are introduced.seven genera(Neobuelliella,Pseudomicrothyrium,Flagellostrigula,swinscowia,Macroconstrictolumina,Pseudobogoriella,and schummia)are introduced.seven new species(Acrospermum urticae,Bogoriella complexoluminata,Dothiorella ostryae,Dyfrolomyces distoseptatus,Macroconstrictolumina megalateralis,Patellaria microspora,and Pseu-domicrothyrium thailandicum)are introduced base on morphology and phylogeny,together with two new records/reports and five new collections from different families.Ninety new combinations are also provided in this paper.

Plant pathogenic fungi are a large and diverse assemblage of eukaryotes with substantial impacts on natural ecosystems and human endeavours.These taxa often have complex and poorly understood life cycles,lack observable,discriminatory morphological characters,and may not be amenable to in vitro culturing.As a result,species identification is frequently difficult.Molecular(DNA sequence)data have emerged as crucial information for the taxonomic identification of plant pathogenic fungi,with the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(ITs)region being the most popular marker.However,international nucleotide sequence databases are accumulating numerous sequences of compromised or low-resolution taxonomic annotations and substandard technical quality,making their use in the molecular identification of plant pathogenic fungi problematic.Here we report on a concerted effort to identify high-quality reference sequences for various plant pathogenic fungi and to re-annotate incorrectly or insufficiently annotated public ITs sequences from these fungal lineages.A third objective was to enrich the sequences with geographical and ecological metadata.The results-a total of 31,954 changes-are incorporated in and made available through the UNITE database for molecular identification of fungi(http://unite.***.ee),including standalone FAsTA files of sequence data for local BLAsT searches,use in the next-generation sequencing analysis platforms QIIME and mothur,and related applications.The present initiative is just a beginning to cover the wide spectrum of plant pathogenic fungi,and we invite all researchers with pertinent expertise to join the annotation effort.

Non-communicable diseases(NCDs)are commonly associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver/non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFL/NAFLD)for which no drugs or specific food are available either to control or to cure.We encounter promising results with NGTRF in nutritional Management of NAFLD and diabetes.Objective is to compare the effect of using NGTRF over routine western management(RWM)and Hela Nila Wedakama(HNW)patients with NCD,including metabolic syndrome,are prescribed NGTRF(produced by Hela suwaya)and followed up.The five therapeutic categories are(1)RWM alone;(2)NGTRF alone;(3)NGTRF+RWM(in Galle);(4)NGTRF+RWM(in Gampaha);(5)NGTRF+RWM+HNW.According to clinical,biochemical and radiological profiles,majority of categoroes 2,3,4 and 5 are either controlled or cured effectively and sustainably compared to category 01.Preliminary evidence shows that effectiveness and sustainability of prescribing NGTRF is better.According to“Hela suwaya”knowledge,genetic basis of food(conventional vs.traditional)and agronomic practices should be strongly considered while prescribing food.Traditional rice grown with toxin free Hela suwaya“Hela Govithena”technology improves the micronutrient,prebiotic,probiotic and antioxidant profiles of food.Agrochemical farming reduces these parameters by reducing soil pH and biota.Functional foods produced by Hela suwaya post-harvest food technology(such as rice-based porridge)will further improve these nutritional profiles.The resulting optimization of the disturbed liver function is the key factor behind this beneficial effect on whole NCD spectrum.This is observed as cured or reduced NAFL/NAFLD.We have already planned controlled clinical trials for further confirmation.Proper food-based intervention is therefore strongly suggested.
