Achieving efficient thermal management urges to exploit high-thermal-conductivity materials to satisfy the boosted demand of heat *** is critical to adopt standardized characterization protocols to evaluate the intrinsic thermal conductivity of thermal management ***,for the most representative laser flash method,the lack of standard measurement methodology and systematic description on the thermal diffusivity and influencing factors has led to significant deviations and confusion of the thermal conduction performance in the emerging thermal management ***,the measurement error factors of thermal diffusivity by the common laser flash analyzer(LFA)are *** high-thermal-conductivity graphitic film(GF)as a typical case,the key factors are analyzed to guide the measurement protocol of related carbon-based thermal management *** basic principle of the LFA measurement,actual pre-processing conditions,instrument parameters setting,and data analysis are elaborated for accurate ***,the graphene thick films and common isotropic materials are also extended to meet various thermal measurement *** on the existing practical problems,we propose a feasible test flow to achieve a unified and standardized thermal conductivity measurement,which is beneficial to the rapid development of carbon-based thermal management materials.

Optical Absorption in SiGe/Si Quantum Well Structures Created by Subband Transitions

The absorption in Si_(1-x)Ge_(x)/Si multiple quantum-well structures is measured. Several separated well absorption peaks corresponding to both intersubband and intervalence band transitions in the samples are observed. In the normal incidence, two broadband peaks are attributed to intervalence band transitions HH0-SO0(2.5μm),HH_(0)-LH_(0)(~ 3μm), respectively. Using 45° incidence of unpolarized light, both the intervalence band and intersubband transitions are observed. The intervalence band transitions (HH_(0)-LH_(0) ) are Ge composition dependent, but the intersubband transitions, HH_(0)-HH_(1) (5.9μm) and HH_(0)-HH_(2)( 4.3 μm), are not sensitive to the Ge composition.

Background: Improving the mechanical properties and angiogenesis of acellular scaffolds before transplantation is an important challenge facing the development of acellular liver grafts. The present study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxicity and angiogenesis of polyethylene glycol(PEG) crosslinked decellularized single liver lobe scaffolds(DLSs), and establish its suitability as a graft for long-term liver tissue engineering. Methods: Using mercaptoacrylate produced by the Michael addition reaction, DLSs were first modified using N-succinimidyl S-acetylthioacetate(SATA), followed by cross-linking with PEG as well as vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF). The optimal concentration of agents and time of the individual steps were identified in this procedure through biomechanical testing and morphological analysis. Subsequently, human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) were seeded on the PEG crosslinked scaffolds to detect the proliferation and viability of cells. The scaffolds were then transplanted into the subcutaneous tissue of Sprague-Dawley rats to evaluate angiogenesis. In addition, the average number of blood vessels was evaluated in the grafts with or without PEG at days 7, 14, and 21 after implantation. Results: The PEG crosslinked DLS maintained their three-dimensional structure and were more translucent after decellularization than native DLS, which presented a denser and more porous network structure. The results for Young’s modulus proved that the mechanical properties of 0.5 PEG crosslinked DLS were the best and close to that of native livers. The PEG-VEGF-DLS could better promote cell proliferation and differentiation of HUVECs compared with the groups without PEG cross-linking. Importantly, the average density of blood vessels was higher in the PEG-VEGF-DLS than that in other groups at days 7, 14, and 21 after implantation in vivo. Identification of miRNAs and target genes regulating catechin biosynthesis in tea (Camellia sinensis)

Micro RNAs（miRNAs） are endogenous non-protein-coding small RNAs that play crucial and versatile regulatory roles in plants. Using a computational identification method, we identified 55 conserved miRNAs in tea（Camellia sinensis） by aligning miRNA sequences of different plant species with the transcriptome library of tea strain 1005. We then used quantitative real-time PCR（qRT-PCR） to analyze the expression of 31 identified miRNAs in tea leaves of different ages, thereby verifying the existence of these miRNAs and confirming the reliability of the computational identification method. We predicted which miRNAs were involved in catechin synthesis using ps RNAtarget Software based on conserved miRNAs and catechin synthesis pathway-related genes. Then, we used RNA ligase-mediated rapid amplification of c DNA ends（RLM-RACE） to obtain seven miRNAs cleaving eight catechin synthesis pathway-related genes including chalcone synthase（CHS）, chalcone isomerase（CHI）, dihydroflavonol 4-reductase（DFR）, anthocyanidin reductase（ANR）, leucoanthocyanidin reductase（LAR）, and flavanone 3-hydroxylase（F3H）. An expression analysis of miRNAs and target genes revealed that miR529d and miR156 g-3 p were negatively correlated with their targets CHI and F3H, respectively. The expression of other miRNAs was not significantly related to their target genes in the catechin synthesis pathway. The RLM-RACE results suggest that catechin synthesis is regulated by miRNAs that can cleave genes involved in catechin synthesis.

Protease inhibitors have been reported rarely from the leech Hirudinaria *** this study,we purified a novel protease inhibitor(bdellin-HM-2)with anticoagulant properties from *** a molecular weight of 1.4x104,bdellin-HM-2 was also characterized with three intra?molecular disulfide bridges at the N-terminus and multiple HHXDD and HXDD motifs at *** revealed that the putative nucleotide-encoding protein of bdellin-HM-2 contained 132 ami no acids and was encoded by a 399 bp open reading frame(ORF).Sequence alignment showed that bdellin-HM-2 shared similarity with the“non-classical"Kazal-type serine protease inhibitors,but had no inhibitory effect on trypsin,elastase,chymotrypsin,kallikrein,factor Xlla(FXIIa),factor Xia(FXIa),factor Xa(FXa),thrombin,or ***-HM-2 showed anticoagulant effects by proIonging the activated partial thromboplastin time(aPTT),indicating a role in enabling *** to obtain a blood meal from its *** results suggest that bdellin-HM丒2 may play a crucial role in blood-sucking in this leech species and may be a pote ntial can didate for the development of clinical anti-thrombotic drugs.

Serum and lung endothelin-1 increased in a canine model of ventilator-induced lung injury

Background Nitric oxide （NO） plays an important role in acute lung injury （ALl）, acute respiratory distress syndrome （ARDS）, and in ventilator-induced lung injury （VILI）. A change in the balance of endothelin-1 （ET-1） and NO in the ALI/ARDS can also add to these problems. However, the profile of ET-1 and the balance of ET-1 and NO are still unknown in a VILI model. Methods Models of oleic acid induced ALl were established in dogs; these models were then randomized into three groups undergone different tidal volume （VT） mechanical ventilation, which included a VT6 group （VT equaled to 6 ml/kg body weight, positive end expiratory pressure （PEEP） equaled to 10 cmH20, n=-6）, a VT10 group （VT equaled to 10 ml/kg body weight, PEEP equaled to 10 cmH20, n=-4） and a VT20 group （VT equaled to 20 ml/kg body weight, PEEP equaled to 10 cmH20, n=-6） for 6-hour ventilation. The levels of ET-1 and NO in serum and tissue homogenates of lung were observed throughout the trial. Results PaO2 was increased after mechanical ventilation, but hypercapnia occurred in the VT6 group. The magnitudes of lung injury in the VT20 group were more severe than those in the VT6 group and the VT10 group. Serum levels of ET-1 and NO increased after ALl models were established and slightly decreased after a 6-hour ventilation in both the VT6 group and the VT20 group. The serum ET-1 level in the VT20 group was higher than that in the VT6 group and the VT10 group after the 6-hour ventilation （P 〈0.05） while the serum NO levels were similar in the three groups （all P 〉0.05）. There was no significant difference in serum ratio of ET-1/NO between any two out of three groups （P 〉0.05）, although there was a significant positive relationship between serum ET-1 and serum NO （r=0.80, P 〈0.01）. The levels of ET-1 and NO in the lung were increased after ventilation. Validation of a Critical Nitrogen Curve for Summer Maize in the North China Plain

The concept of critical N concentration(N_c)has been widely used in agronomy as the basis for diagnosis of crop N status,and allows discrimination between field situations of sub-optimal and supra-optimal N supply.A critical N dilution curve of N_c=34.0W^(-0.37),where W is the aboveground biomass(Mg DM ha^(-1))and N_c the critical N concentration in aboveground dry matter(g kg^(-1)DM),was developed for spring maize in *** objectives were to validate whether this European critical N dilution curve was appropriate for summer maize production in the North China Plain(NCP)and to develop a critical N dilution curve especially for summer maize production in this *** total 231 data points from 16 experiments were used to test the European critical N dilution *** observations showed that the European critical N dilution curve was unsuitable for summer maize in the NCP,especially at the early growth *** the data obtained,a critical N dilution curve for summer maize in the NCP was described by the equation of N_c=27.2W^(-0,27),when aboveground biomass was between 0.64 and 11.17 Mg DM ha^(-1).Based on this curve,more than 90%of the data for the N deficiency supply treatments had an N nutrition index(NNI)1.

The equilibrium configuration of a solid strange star in the final inspiral phase with another compact object is generally discussed,and the starquake-related issue is revisited,for a special purpose to understand the precursor emission of binary compact star merger events(e.g.,that of GRB211211A).As the binary system inspirals inward due to gravitational wave radiation,the ellipticity of the solid strangeon star increases due to the growing tidal field of its compact *** energy is hence accumulated during the inspiral stage which might trigger a starquake before the merger when the energy exceeds a critical *** energy released during such starquakes is calculated and compared to the precursor observation of GRB211211 *** result shows that the energy might be insufficient for binary strangeon-star case unless the entire solid strangeon star shatters,and hence favors a black hole-strangeon star scenario for *** timescale of the precursor as well as the frequency of the observed quasi-periodic-oscillation have also been discussed in the starquake model.

Evidence, hypotheses and significance of MAP kinase TNNI3K interacting with its partners

TNNI3K is a cardiac-specific and cardiac troponin I(cT n I)-interacting MAP kinase, known to play important roles in promoting cardiac differentiation, maintenance of beating rhythm and contractual force. The molecular structure of TNNI3 K contains three kinds of domain: a seven or ten NH2-terminal ankyrin repeat domain followed by a protein kinase domain and a COOH-terminal serine-rich domain. There are many binding sites in the structure of TNNI3 K for binding to ATP, magnesium, nucleotide, protein kinase C, antioxidant protein 1(AOP-1) and cT n I, indicating TNNI3 K has many interacting partners. This review summarizes the evidence, hypothesis and significance of TNNI3 K interacting with TNNI3 and its other putative interaction partners. From the literature, the interaction partners of TNNI3 K are divided into 2 types following their phenotypic pattern of functions, positive interaction(to increase the cardiac performance) or negative interaction(to suppress the cardiac performance). Following their binding sites, it also can be divided into other 2 types: binding to C-terminal domain(e.g., cT n I) or binding to both ankyrin repeat domain and C-terminal domains(AOP-1).To date, a well understood partner of TNNI3 K is cT nI, from the molecular structure, physiological function, mechanisms and its significance in some physiological and pathophysiological conditions. There are many reasons to believe that, with more understanding on the TNNI3 K interacting with its partners, we can understand more roles of TNNI3 K in some cardiac diseases.
