Using proximal sensor data for soil salinity management and mapping

Over the past five decades, increased pressure caused by the rapidly growing population has resulted in a reclamation of agricultural and urban buffer zones along China's coastline. however, information about the spatio–temporal variation of soil salinity in these reclaimed regions is limited. As such, obtaining this information is crucial for mapping the variation in saline areas and to identify suitable salinity management strategies. In this study, we employed EM38 data to conduct digital soil mapping of spatio–temporal variation and map these variations of different site-specific zones. The results indicated that the distribution of soil salinity was heterogeneous in the middle of, and that the leaching of salts was significant at the edges of, the study field. Afterwards, fuzzy-k means algorithm was used to divide the site-specific management zones within the time series apparent soil electrical conductivity(ECa) data and the spatial correlations of variation. We concluded that two management zones are optimal to guide precision management. Zone A had an average salinity level of about 165 mS m–1, in which salt-tolerant crops, such as cotton and barley can grow normally, while crops such as soybean and cowpeas may be planted using leaching and increasing the mulching film methods to reduce the accumulation of salt in surface soil. In Zone B, there was a low salinity level with a mean of 89 mS m–1 for ECa, which allows for rice, wheat, and a wide range of vegetables to be grown normally. In such situations, measures such as an optimized combination of irrigation and drainage, as well as soil amendment can be taken to adjust and control the salt content. Particularly, flattening the land with a large-scale machine was used to improve the ability of micro-topography to influence salt migration; rice and other dry, land crops were planted in rotation in combination with utilizing salt-leaching multiple times to speed up desalinization.

Due to the exciting photoelectric properties,better stability,and environmental-friendly nature,all-inorganic halide perovskites(AIHPs),especially the lead-free perovskites,have attracted worldwide ***,the film quality of AIHPs fabricated by typical spin-coating and subsequent high-temperature annealing is still not satisfactory,restricting their further ***,we demonstrate a simple low-temperature solution-processed drop-casting method to achieve highly-crystalline cubic CsPbBr_(3)and lead-free layer-structured Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9)microcrystals(MCs).This drop-casting technique not only consumes the less amount of precursor solution but also eliminates the high-temperature annealing as compared with those of spin *** these MCs are configured into photodetectors,they exhibit superior device performance,which is in distinct contrast to the one of spin-coated ***,the responsivity of CsPbBr_(3)MCs is found to be as large as 8,990 mA/W,being 13 times larger than the spin-coated films and even better than many state-of-the-art solution-processed AIHPs *** device performance enhancement is attributed to the better film quality and phase purity obtained by the drop-casting *** these results can evidently fill the“technology gap”for further enhancing the material quality of solution-processed AIHPs and breaking down the barriers that hinder the development of AIHPs based optoelectronic devices.

Selenium-enriched oolong tea(Camellia sinensis)extract exerts anti-inflammatory potential via targeting NF-κB and MAPK pathways in macrophages

Both tea polyphenols and selenium(Se)have been suggested to exert the health benefits via the regulatory capacities of chronic inflammation,which make Se-enriched oolong tea a promising beverage as an anti-inflammatory *** aim of this study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Se-enriched oolong tea extract(Se-TE)and underlying mechanism in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced RAW264.7 ***-TE treatments(50 and 150μg/m L)significantly suppressed the over-production of nitric oxide(NO)and prostaglandin E2(PGE2)in LPS-stimulated macrophages via downregulating the expression of nitric oxide synthase(i NOS)and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2).Moreover,Se-TEs also effectively inhibited the productions of inflammatory cytokines,such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),and interleukin-1β(IL-1β).Furthermore,Se-TE could block mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathways through the inhibition of the phosphorylation of key proteins(IκB-α,p65,p38,ERK,and JNK)and the translocation of the p65 subunit into the ***,our results indicated that Se-TE may have the potential to be used as a novel food ingredient for the development of various anti-inflammatory foods and the treatment and prevention of chronic inflammation-related diseases.

Dear Editor,Tyrosine phosphatase SHP2/PTPN11 plays an important role in cell *** mutation of SHP2 causes cancer,which makes the enzyme an anti-cancer drug *** selective and potent SHP2 inhibitors have been ***099,the best known SHP2 inhibitor currently in clinical trials,has been shown to be effective for receptor tyrosine kinase-driven and oncogenic KRAS-driven cancers1,*** employed a colorectal cancer cell line HCT-116 that carries a KRAS-G13D mutation in this ***,SHP2 inhibitors failed to inhibit HCT-116 growth and ERK1/2 activation but in contrast had the opposite *** then generated SHP2 knockout cells by using the CRISPR technique and provided further evidence that loss of SHP2 activity promotes growth of HCT-116 cells in vitro and in *** study suggests that targeting SHP2 may have adverse effects on certain cancers,which may have major implications for further development of anti-cancer drugs targeting SHP2.

High mechanical strength Si anode synthesis with interlayer bonded expanded graphite structure for lithium-ion batteries

Despite advancements in silicon-based anodes for high-capacity lithium-ion batteries,their widespread commercial adoption is still hindered by significant volume expansion during cycling,especially at high active mass loadings crucial for practical *** root of these challenges lies in the mechanical instability of the material,which subsequently leads to the structural failure of the ***,we present a novel synthesis of a composite combining expanded graphite and silicon *** composite features a unique interlayer-bonded graphite structure,achieved through the application of a modified spark plasma sintering ***,this innovative structure not only facilitates efficient ion and electron transport but also provides exceptional mechanical strength(Vickers hardness:up to658 MPa,Young's modulus:11.6 GPa).This strength effectively accommodates silicon expansion,resulting in an impressive areal capacity of 2.9 mA h cm^(-2)(736 mA h g^(-1)) and a steady cycle life(93% after 100cycles).Such outsta nding performance is paired with features appropriate for large-scale industrial production of silicon batteries,such as active mass loading of at least 3.9 mg cm^(-2),a high-tap density electrode material of 1.68 g cm^(-3)(secondary clusters:1.12 g cm^(-3)),and a production yield of up to 1 kg per day.

Controllable synthesis of Tb-based metal-organic frameworks as an efficient fluorescent sensor for Cu^(2+)detection

A series of Tb-based metal-organic frameworks(Tb-MOFs)were successfully synthesized by a solvothermal *** size and morphology of the as-obtained Tb-MOFs can be effectively controlled via regulating the experimental conditions such as the volume fraction of DMF and the molar ratio of Tb^(3+)to *** is found that all the samples exhibit strong green emissions under ultraviolet excitation,corresponding to^(5)D_(4)→^(7)F_(J)transitions of Tb^(3+).Interestingly,Tb-MOFs displayed an efficient and distinct luminescence quenching by Cu^(2+)in aqueous *** competitive fluorescence detection experiments indicate that these Tb-MOFs sensors can be used as a high selective and sensitive sensor of Cu^(2+)detection with the detection limit of 10μmol·L^(-1),which can be used as a promising fluorescence sensor for Cu^(2+)detection in daily life.
