Equitable water allocation is essential in an irrigation scheme for obtaining potential crop yields from the entire scheme,especially when water supply is *** optimization model achieved this goal by coupling an optimal water allocation model with available water supply and irrigation water demand for a river-fed rice irrigation system in *** model consists of a paddy field water balance module and an optimization *** outputs from the module are daily irrigation demand and surface runoff,if there is *** optimization module consists of an objective function,which minimizes water shortage across the scheme area while maintaining equity in water *** model performs optimization subject to several system constraints,and the decision variable of the model is daily releases or supply to the tertiary *** of this model remained unaffected under different water supply conditions,and the optimization model reliably examined the effects of alternate water allocation and management rules with field *** improves efficiency and equity in water allocation with respect to crop growth stages and water shortages rather than simply cutting irrigation supply on a proportional basis to overcome water shortages.

Impact of Fine Sediment on TSS and Turbidity in Retention Structure

A study of the impact of fine sediment on various water quality parameters in retention structure such as sediment basin was conducted on stagnant and flowing condition. 7 water quality parameters (pH, TSS, turbidity, DO, BOD, COD, ammonium nitrogen) were measured and classified according to the Interim National Water Quality Standard (INWQS) for Malaysia. Results show higher fine sediment concentration causes higher TSS and turbidity. Besides, results show TSS and turbidity were influenced by soil type for the same amount of fine sediment. Soil Siri Rasau 1 showed highest TSS and turbidity value followed by soil Siri Bungor and soil alluvium. A good positive correlation of TSS versus turbidity and has been investigated in this study. Multiple nonlinear regression analysis revealed that parameter TSS is dependent on time, total soil mass, fine soil mass and flow rate.

In this work,wemodeled the brittle fracture of shell structure in the framework of Peridynamics Mindlin-Reissener shell theory,in which the shell is described by material points in themean-plane with its drilling rotation neglected in kinematic *** improve the numerical accuracy,the stress-point method is utilized to eliminate the numerical instability induced by the zero-energy mode and *** crack surface is represented explicitly by stress points,and a novel general crack criterion is proposed based on *** of the critical stretch used in common peridynamic solid,it is convenient to describe thematerial failure by using the classic constitutive model in continuum *** this work,a concise crack simulation algorithm is also provided to describe the crack path and its development,in order to simulate the brittle fracture of the shell *** examples are presented to validate and demonstrate our proposed *** reveal that our model has good accuracy and capability to represent crack propagation and branch spontaneously.

【目的】为建立大鼻吻鮈(Rhinogobio nasutus)规模化人工繁育技术,并为其生产性育苗工艺和种质资源保护等提供科学依据。【方法】采用野生的大鼻吻鮈经人工催产获得受精卵,记录并分析其胚胎及仔鱼发育各时期的形态特征。【结果】大鼻吻鮈成熟卵呈圆球形,浅绿色,为漂流性卵,卵径(0.60±0.08)mm,受精卵吸水充分膨胀后卵径(0.76±0.08)mm。在水温(23.2±1.0)℃,pH 8.71~8.86条件下,受精卵3.67 h发育至囊胚期,5.95 h发育至原肠期,9.55 h胚体形成,13.38 h器官开始形成,19.98 h出现肌肉效应情况,24.05 h心跳出现,40.43 h完成出膜,至仔鱼期。大鼻吻鮈初孵仔鱼全长3.00~4.00 mm,心跳101~132次/min;在水温26℃条件下,仔鱼2 d全部吸收完卵黄,部分泄殖孔已开,3 d全部开口摄食。【结论】利用人工催产的方法记录、分析和描述了大鼻吻鮈的胚胎发育过程,并且成功获得了大鼻吻鮈初孵仔鱼,其胚胎发育过程经历胚盘期、卵裂期、囊胚期、原肠胚期、神经胚期、器官形成期及孵化出膜7个阶段,每个发育阶段又有若干个发育时期。

Preoperative laser reduces silicone oil use in primary diabetic vitrectomy

AIM: To identify the predictive factors and laser photocoagulation associated with the use of silicone oil as endotamponade during primary diabetic vitrectomy. METHODS: The medical and surgical records of 690 patients(798 eyes) who underwent primary diabetic vitrectomy at a tertiary eye hospital in China from January 2018 to December 2018 were reviewed in this retrospective cohort study. The patients’ baseline characteristics and preoperative treatments were recorded. The binary Logistic regression model was used to evaluate the risk factors for the use of silicone oil as endotamponade agent during primary vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)-related ***: Among 690 patients with mean age of 52.1±10.5 y(range: 18-85 y), 299/690(43.3%) were female. The 31.6% of the eyes received preoperative laser treatment, and 72.4% of the eyes received preoperative anti-VEGF adjuvant therapy. Non-clearing vitreous haemorrhage(VH) alone or combined with retinal detachment was the main surgical indication(89.5%) for primary vitrectomy. Silicone oil was used as endotamponade in 313(39.2%) eyes. Lack of preoperative laser treatment [odds ratio(OR) 0.66, 95% confidence interval(CI): 0.48-0.92;P=0.015] and older age(OR 0.96, 95%CI: 0.95-0.98;P<0.001) were predictors of silicone oil tamponade during primary vitrectomy for PDR. CONCLUSION: The lack of preoperative laser treatment is a significant predictor of silicone oil tamponade during primary vitrectomy for PDR. However, the severity of PDR relevant to silicone oil use should be further evaluated.

Membrane lipid binding molecules for the isolation of bona fide extracellular vesicle types and associated biomarkers in liquid biopsy

Cancer exacts a heavy socioeconomic cost. Earlier detection and treatment are likely to mitigate this cost. Unfortunately, conventional tissue biopsy, the gold standard in cancer diagnosis cannot fulfill the goal of earlier detection. While liquid biopsy is a promising alternative to tissue biopsy, it has its challenges and limitations. A major challenge is the isolation of bona fide lipid membrane vesicles from biological fluids. In this review, we presented a new perspective of isolating different types of extracellular vesicles (EVs) by their affinity for membrane lipid binding ligands for liquid biopsy. EVs are lipid membrane particles naturally released by almost all cells and are found in almost all biological fluids suitable for liquid biopsy. They carry materials from the secreting cells that could affect the biology of the recipient cells and could thus inform on the state and progress of the disease. However, isolating bona fide EVs is a technical challenge as biological fluids have a complex composition and contain particles or aggregates that are physically similar to EVs. Here we review the use of membrane lipid-binding ligands to isolate different bona fide EV subtypes, and to circumvent the problem of co-isolating physically similar non-EV complexes in current EV isolation protocols. We will discuss the advantages of this technique and its potential for accelerated biomarker discovery and validation through examples of pre-clinical studies. We propose that isolating EV subtypes is a technically viable and robust strategy to overcome the current bottleneck of isolating EVs for liquid biopsy.

Calcifying tendinopathy is a tendon disorder with calcium deposits in the mid-substance presented with chronic activity-related pain, tenderness, local edema and various degrees of incapacitation. Most of current treatments are neither effective nor evidence-based because its underlying pathogenesis is poorly understood and treatment is usually symptomatic. Understanding the pathogenesis of calcifying tendlinopathy is essential for its effective evidence-based management. One of the key histopathological features of calcifying tendinopathy is the presence of chondrocyte phenotype which surrounds the calcific deposits, suggesting that the formation of calcific deposits was *** the origin of cells participating in the formation of chondrocyte phenotype and ossification is still unknown, many evidences have suggested that erroneous tendon cell differentiation is involved in the process. Recent studies have shown the presence of stem cells with self-renewal and multi-differentiation potential in human,horse, mouse and rat tendon tissues. We hypothesized that the erroneous differentiation of tendon-derived stem cells （TDSCs） to chondrocytes or osteoblasts leads to chondrometaplasia and ossification and hence weaker tendon, failed healing and pain, in calcifying tendinopathy. We present a hypothetical model on the pathogenesis and evidences to support this hypothesis. Understanding the key role of TDSCs in the pathogenesis of calcifying tendinopathy and the mechanisms contributing to their erroneous differentiation would provide new opportunities for the management of calcifying tendinopathy. The re-direction of the differentiation of resident TDSCs to tenogenic or supplementation of MSCsprogrammed for tenogenic differentiation may be enticing targets for the management of calcifying tendinopathy in e future.
