Objective:To study the chemical profile,antimicrobial properties,and synergistic effect with known antibiotics of essential oil extracted from the marine red macroalgae Centroceras clavulatum(***)Montagne,collected in ***:The chemical composition of the oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass *** oil was evaluated for antibacterial(Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Bacillus subtilis,Micrococcus luteus,Staphylococcus aureus,and Klebsiella pneumoniae),and antifungal activity(Candida albicans,Candida glabrata,Candida krusei,and Candida parapsilosis),by the disc diffusion *** minimum inhibitory and minimum microbicidal concentrations of the oil were determined,as well as the synergistic effects of its application combined with the antibiotics ciprofloxacin and fluconazole,by the checkerboard ***:Thirty molecules were identified in the essential oil,comprising 96.27%of the total oil *** such as carvacrol(36.06%)were the most abundant compounds,followed by caryophyllene(14.67%),endo-borneol(9.04%),pyroterebic acid(3.23%)and caryophyllene oxide(3.13%).The oil exhibited a moderate antimicrobial activity with inhibition zone diameters ranging from 9.0 to 15.0 *** minimum inhibitory concentration values varied between 0.9 and 14.7 mg/mL,and Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli were the more sensitive bacteria with 0.9 and 1.9 mg/mL,*** minimum microbicidal concentration values ranged from 0.4 to 14.7 mg/mL.A significant synergic action was observed when the oil was applied in combination with ciprofloxacin and fluconazole,with fractional inhibitory concentration index values ranging from 0.31 to *** was found in 80%of the combinations and a 2 to 16-fold reduction of antibiotics MIC was ***:Our findings suggest that the essential oil of Centroceras clavulatum should be further appraised for its potential use in the management of multi-drug resistant microo

We give sufficient conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness of an Eberlein-weakly almost periodic solution to the following linear equation dx/dt(t) = A(t)x(t) + f(t) in a Banach space X, where (A(t)) t ∈□ is a family of infinitesimal generators such that for all t ∈□, A(t + T) = A(t) for some T > 0, for which the homogeneuous linear equation dx/dt(t) = A(t)x(t) is well posed, stable and has an exponential dichotomy, and f:□ →X is Eberlein-weakly amost periodic.

Slope Stability Evaluations by Limit Equilibrium and Finite Element Methods Applied to a Railway in the Moroccan Rif

Since 1930, the analysis of slope stability is done according to the limit equilibrium approach. Several methods were developed of which certain remain applicable because of their simplicity. However, major disadvantages of these methods are (1) they do not take into account the soil behavior and (2) the complex cases cannot be studied with precision. The use of the finite elements in calculations of stability has to overcome the weakness of the traditional methods. An analysis of stability was applied to a slope, of complex geometry, composed of alternating sandstone and marls using finite elements and limit equilibrium methods. The calculation of the safety factors did not note any significant difference between the two approaches. Various calculations carried out illustrate perfectly benefits that can be gained from modeling the behavior by the finite elements method. In the finite elements analysis, the shape of deformations localization in the slope is nearly circular and confirms the shape of the failure line which constitutes the basic assumption of the analytical methods. The integration of the constitutive laws of soils and the use of field’s results tests in finite elements models predict the failure mode, to better approach the real behavior of slope soil formations and to optimize its reinforcement.

Radiation Forces on a Dielectric Sphere Produced by Finite Olver-Gaussian Beams

In this work, we use the analytical expression of the propagation of Finite Olver-Gaussian beams (FOGBs) through a paraxial ABCD optical system to study the action of radiation forces produced by highly focused FOGBs on a Rayleigh dielectric sphere. Our numerical results show that the FOGBs can be employed to trap and manipulate particles with the refractive index larger than that of the ambient. The radiation force distribution has been studied under different beam widths. The trapping stability under different conditions is also analyzed.

Removal of Methylene Blue from Water Using Hydroxyapatite Submitted to Microwave Irradiation

This study investigated the power of hydroxyapatite adsorbent prepared by a combined precipitation-microwave method, for removing a cationic dye methylene blue in aqueous media. The used adsorbent was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). The adsorption tests were conducted in batch mode. The effect of temperature, the pH of the solution and the mass of the adsorbent on the adsorption were determined. It is found that the adsorption was pH and temperature dependent. The kinetic study showed that the second-order model gives a better description of the kinetics of the adsorption reaction than the first-order model. Analysis of adsorption isotherms using different classical models showed that adsorption may be governed by the isotherms of Langmuir. The thermodynamic parameters were determined from the values of the maximum adsorption capacity and equilibrium constants.

Propagation characteristics of finite Airy-Gaussian beams through an apertured misaligned first-order ABCD optical system are studied. In this work, the generalized Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral and the expansion of the hard aperture function into a finite sum of complex Gaussian functions are used. The propagation of Airy-Gaussian beam passing through: an unapertured misaligned optical system, an apertured aligned ABCD optical system and an unapertured aligned ABCD optical system are derived here as particular cases of the main finding. Some numerical simulations are performed in the paper.

Melting of Argon Cluster: Dependence of Caloric Curves on MD Simulation Parameters

We report on molecular dynamics simulations performed using microcanonical ensemble to predict the melting of argon particles in nanometer size range 10 nm and to investigate the effect of the time step integration. We use the Lennard- Jones potential functions to describe the interatomic interactions, and the results are evaluated by using caloric curves of the melting phenomenon. Thermodynamic properties, including the total energy, Lindemann parameter, kinetic and potential distribution’s functions, are used to characterize the melting process. The data shows bimodal behavior only in a certain interval of integration time step Δt, while the internal energy increases monotonically with the temperature. For the other time step values, the back bending disappears. We claim that negative specific heat is related to a possible decrease of entropy in an isolated system;this can be interpreted as a result of the internal interactions, especially attractive process and specific relaxation time.

Theoretical Introduction and Generation Method of a Novel Nondiffracting Waves: Olver Beams

In this paper, we introduce a new class of scalar nondiffracting Helmholtz-equation solution. We demonstrate that this novel wave-equation solution has some specific orders;among these ordinary Airy beams which are regarded as the zeroth order. Moreover, a general expression of these novel beams, which are named Olver Beams and referred to OBs, is developed. The zeroth and the first high orders of the incident OBs are presented theoretically and numerically in this paper. Yet, based on a computer generated holograms method, the generation’s masks of the Finite OBs in first orders are given in this work. Also, the incident transverse intensity distribution in 1-D and 2-D of the first orders of OBs is performed.

Diachronic Study of the Vegetation Covers Spatiotemporal Change Using GIS and Remote Sensing in the Ferkla Oasis: Case Study, Bour El Khourbat, Tinjdad, Morocco

The Oasis of Ferkla is part of the Oases of Tafilalt in southern Morocco. These are classified by UNESCO as the Oases of Southern Morocco Biosphere Reserve. The Ferkla Oasis is increasingly experiencing a situation of increased regression and degradation, aggravated by the effects of climate change. These foreshadow a considerable acceleration of desertification and drought with the effect of the loss of production systems whose social, ecological and economic role remains major for the whole country. In order to contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of the vegetation in this territory and the impact of climate change in the Oasis of Ferkla, we used spatial remote sensing to trace the evolution of changes in the vegetation cover in an agricultural extension called Bour El Khourbat. Calculation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index for seven multidate satellite images allowed us to follow the vegetation in this oasis zone from the year 1984 to 2019. Indeed, from these multi-temporal images, this study clearly shows the evolution of the vegetation with a remarkable agricultural extension towards the South-East of the zone. This extension is due not only to the installation of a diversion dam upstream but also to the development of the localized irrigation system “Drop by Drop” which is a technique that saves water resources in addition to the presence in the area. Bour El Khourbat specifies a geological structure, in the primary, relatively favorable to having water linked to cracks.
