This article focuses on the experimental and numerical study of an industrial prototype furnace intended for the production of ceramics in order to improve the energy efficiency and therefore optimize the fuel consumption and the corresponding carbon dioxide *** order to understand the thermal behavior from which stems the energy efficiency of the experimental prototype,we establish in this work,a simplified modeling allowing to establish a mathematical model describing the thermal behavior of the *** model is able to accurately predict the spatial and temporal distribution of the temperature at each point of the furnace to control the firing of the refractory product so that the final product is of good quality in terms of resistance and *** addition,the power consumed by the prototype must be optimized in order to reduce energy and environmental *** particular,this efficient technology has allowed us to save 83% of energy used in the traditional furnace and to reduce 87.36% of the relative carbon dioxide *** simulation of the mathematical model made it possible to compare the numerical results with the experimental measurements obtained by the prototype as well as to validate the model and to adjust the heat transfer parameters.

Analysis of symbiotic microbial status of Atlantic sand dunes forest and its effects on Acacia gummifera and Retama monosperma(Fabaceae)to be used in reforestation

Atlantic forest natural soil flora was tested on two leguminous pioneer species Acacia gummifera and Retama monosperma to be used in rehabilitation programs of the coastal sand dunes forest of the Essaouira *** rhizospheric soil of two endemic plant species:*** and Juniperus phoenicea was sampled and split into two categories,one from native rhizospheric soil,the other of the sterilized rhizospheric *** was focused on mycorrhizal formations,but other forms of beneficial symbiosis such as rhizobia and viable soil microflora were also *** and nutrition variables assessed included lengths of roots and shoots,number of branches,ratio of root to shoot dry mass and water,nitrogen and phosphorus *** showed important mycorrhizal associations in roots of both plants,presence of nodules and abundance of viable soil *** had a 100%frequency of mycorrhizal formation and an intensity of 80%compared to a frequency of 80%and intensity of 54%for *** had the same density of CFU regardless of the *** of viable microflora in rhisospheric soil of ***,*** and the control differed *** the studied variables for *** and ***,nitrogen and phosphorus uptakes significantly wit the use of the nonsterilized rhizospheric *** species doubled their phosphorus uptake when colonized by mycorrhizal species,*** doubled its nitrogen uptake and *** increased it by seven times compared with the *** significant difference was noted for the other variables.

Valorization of mining waste and tailings through paste backfilling solution, Imiter operation, Morocco

Mine waste and process tailings storage is one of important challenge for which mining operations are increasingly confronted. Treatment discharges of plants and main part of waste rock development are generally stored on surface areas. The volume and chemical characteristics of these materials generate serious problem for required storage spaces and mainly environmental degradation. Paste backfill(PBF) is one of ingenious solutions to minimize the quantity of tailings to store. PBF is basically defined as a combination of mine processing tailings, binder, and water mixing. The purpose of this paper is to present backfilling components characterization and formula verification for a waste valorization solution through paste backfilling technology in Imiter operation. Obtained results and realized analysis demonstrate PBF conformity and adequacy with assigned underground functions. However the studied recipe can be more ameliorated to obtain an optimal mixture ensuring the required mechanical strength.

Comparing growth and fine root distribution in monocultures and mixed plantations of hybrid poplar and spruce

Disease prevention, biodiversity, productivity improvement and ecological considerations are all factors that contribute to increasing interest in mixed plantations. The objective of this study was to evaluate early growth and productivity of two hybrid poplar clones, P. balsamifera x trichocarpa （PBT） and P. maximowiczii x balsamifera （PMB）, one improved family of Norway spruce （Picea glauca （PA）） and one improved family of white spruce （Picea abies （PG）） growing under different spacings in monocultures and mixed plots. The plantations were established in 2003 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, Canada, in a split plot design with spacing as the whole plot factor （1 × 1 m, 3 × 3 m and 5 × 5 m） and mixture treatments as subplot factor （pure： PBT, PMB, PA and PG, and 1：1 mixture PBT：PA, PBT：PG, PMB：PA and PMB：PG）. Results showed a beneficial effect of the hybrid poplar-spruce mixture on diameter growth for hybrid poplar clones, but not for the 5 × 5 m spacing because of the relatively young age of the plantations. Diameter growth of the spruces decreased in mixed plantings in the 1 × 1 m, while their height growth increased, resulting in similar aboveground biomass per tree across treatments. Because of the large size differences between spruces and poplars, aboveground biomass in the mixed plantings was generally less than that in pure poplar plots. Leaf nitrogen concentration for the two spruce families and hybrid poplar clone PMB was greater in mixed plots than in monocultures, while leaf nitrogen concentration of clone PBT was similar among mixture treatments. Because of its faster growth rate and greater soil resources demands, clone PMB was the only one showing an increase in leaf N with increased spacing between trees. Fine roots density was greater for both hybrid poplars than spruces. The vertical distribution of fine roots was insensitive to mixture treatment.

Cupressus atlantica Gaussen （Cupressaceae） is an endemic and endangered coniferous tree geographically restricted to the N＇Fis valley in South-Western Morocco. Like many forest species, C. atlantica exhibits dormancy which delays and reduces germination. To improve seed germination, different pre-treatments were conducted on C. atlantica seeds after storage for different periods （one, two and five years） including： scarification with sandy paper; soaking seeds in hot distilled water at 60℃ and 80℃ for 15 min and soaking seeds for 48 h in a gibberellic acid （GA3） at 1,000 and 2,000 mg·L-1. Results showed that scarification with sandy paper increased the germination rate of Atlas cypress by up to 67%, indicating that the species possess essentially an exogenous dormancy （physical dormancy） due to the hard seed coat （hardseededness）. Exogenous application of gibberellic acid （GA3） at 1,000 mg.L-1 was also effective in breaking seed dormancy and germination induction. These two treatments induced faster speed germination expressed by low number of days to first germination （8-10 days） and low values of mean germination times （MGT）. However, germination rate, under any treatment, is greatly dependent on the year of seed collection. Seeds collected in year 2004 gave the highest value, suggesting that even after five years of storage, the germination capacity of C. atlantica seeds could remain high. This observation is very interesting in the ex-situ conservation of such endemic and endangered species where the production of seeds is irregular over the years.

Characterization and photoluminescence properties of ultrafine copper molybdate(α-CuMoO_4) powders prepared via a combustion-like process

We report a simple method for preparing copper（II） molybdate（CuMoO_4） powders via a combustion-like process. A gel was first prepared by the polymerizable complex method, where citric acid was used as a complexing and polymerizing agent and nitric acid was used as an oxidizing agent. The thermal decomposition behavior of the（CuMo）-precursor gel was studied by thermogravimetry–differential thermal analysis（TG–DTA）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, and X-ray diffraction（XRD）. We observed that the crystallization of CuMoO_4 powder was completed at 450°C. The obtained homogeneous powder was composed of grains with sizes in the range from 150 to 500 nm and exhibited a specific surface area of approximately 5 m^2/g. The average grain size increased with increasing annealing temperature. The as-prepared CuMoO_4 crystals showed a strong green photoluminescence emission at room temperature under excitation at 290 nm, which we mainly interpreted on the basis of the Jahn-Teller effect on [MoO_4^（2-）] complex anions. We also observed that the photoluminescence intensity increased with increasing crystallite size.

Endophytic actinobacteria of medicinal plant Aloe vera: Isolation, antimicrobial, antioxidant, cytotoxicity assays and taxonomic study

Objective: To explore the new sources of novel bioactive compounds having pharmaceutical and agricultural interest and to search the endophytic actinobacteria from medicinal plants. Methods: NAF-1 an endophyte actinobacteria was isolated from leaves of medicinal plant Aloe vera collected in Marrakesh, Morocco using Bennett agar as selective medium. NAF-1 was tested for its antimicrobial activity against five pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus PIC 53156, Micrococcus luteus ATCC381, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 14579, Pseudomonas aeruginosa DSM 50090 and Escherichia coli ATCC 8739 and four human clinic fungi belonging to the Candida, Aspergillus and Microsporum genera. Several antioxidant activities were studied such as DPPH free radical scavenging, β-carotene and linoleic acid and reducing power assays. The total of phenol and flavonoid was also calculated. Using Artemia salina shrimp assay, the cytotoxicity of NAF-1 crude extract was determined. Results: The results revealed that the actinobacteria showed a high activity(≥20 mm) against only Gram positive bacteria but it had a moderate activity(between 13 and 15 mm) against Human clinic fungi. The isolate also exhibited a LD50 of 14.20 μg/mL in the cytotoxicity assay. The result showed that the crude extract presented an interesting free radical-scavenging activity with IC50 value of(5.58 ± 0.26) μg/mL and a high value of phenolic and flavonoid compounds with(15.41 ± 0.18) μg GAE/mg extract and(11.41± 0.06) μg QE/mg extract respectively. Moreover, the taxonomic position of our endophyte actinobacteria using the morphological and physiological criteria and using 16 S r RNA gene sequence(polyphasic approach) showed that the NAF-1 isolate was similar to Streptomyces hydrogenans which was never described as an endophyte actinobacteria. Conclusions: This isolated strain appears promising resources of bioactive agents and can be exploited to produce therapeutic agents active against pathogenic disease.

YIELD AND FRUIT QUALITY OF ALMOND,PEACH AND PLUM UNDER REGULATED DEFICIT IRRIGATION

The effects of regulated deficit irrigation(RDI)on the performance of almond ***,peach ***-Hall and plum *** were assessed on the Saiss Plain(NW,Morocco)over three consecutive growing seasons(2011–2013).Irrigation treatments consisted of a control,irrigation applied to fully satisfy crop water requirements(100%ETC),and two RDI treatments,irrigation applied to 75%ETC(RDI-75)and 50%ETC(RDI-50).These three treatments were applied during fruitgrowth slowdown periods corresponding to Stages II and III in almond and Stage II in peach and *** and fruit quality traits were *** effect of RDI differed between *** and fruit size were reduced significantly only in peach under *** quality improved in this species in the first year of the experiment,with an increase of sugar/acid ratio and polyphenol *** quality also improved but the effects were significant only in the second and third *** results were recorded in almond kernel,but their epidermal grooves were deeper under RDI-50,and this may have affected their commercial *** is concluded that water can be saved during the fruitgrowth slowdown period by up to 25%in peach and 50%in almond and plum with improvements in fruit quality without affecting total yield.
