Long-term continuous health care monitoring,using wearable technologies has received considerable interest due to the significant contribution of wearables to the diagnosis of diseases and identification of health *** have been widely applied in human societies due to their unique advantages,including stretchability,small diameters,high dynamic bending elasticity,high length-to-width ratios,and mechanical strength.A new generation of fiber-based electrodes is being integrated into smart textiles and wearables for continuous long-term biosignal *** fiber-based electrodes are breathable,flexible,and durable,unlike conventional disposable gel electrodes,which are difficult to employ for long-term applications because of skin irritation and allergic responses caused by their moist and adhesive interface with the *** this review,we provide a concise summary of recent breakthroughs in the design,and manufacturing of dry fiber-based electrodes for electrophysiology applications,with a particular emphasis on applications in electrocardiography,electromyography,and *** on numerous features of electroactive fiber materials,fiber processing,electrode fabrication,scaled-up manufacturing,standardization of testing and performance criteria,we discuss current limitations and provide an outlook for the future development of this field.

New approaches to quantify progressive damage and associated dynamic rock mass blockiness

In the past decade, numerical modelling has been increasingly used for simulating the mechanical behaviour of naturally fractured rock masses. In this paper, we introduce new algorithms for spatial and temporal analyses of newly generated fractures and blocks using an integrated discrete fracture network (DFN)-finite-discrete element method (FDEM) (DFN-FDEM) modelling approach. A fracture line calculator and analysis technique (i.e. discrete element method (DEM) fracture analysis, DEMFA) calculates the geometrical aspects of induced fractures using a dilation criterion. The resultant two-dimensional (2D) blocks are then identified and characterised using a graph structure. Block tracking trees allow track of newly generated blocks across timesteps and to analyse progressive breakage of these blocks into smaller blocks. Fracture statistics (number and total length of initial and induced fractures) are then related to the block forming processes to investigate damage evolution. The combination of various proposed methodologies together across various stages of modelling processes provides new insights to investigate the dependency of structure's resistance on the initial fracture configuration.

An efficient congestion control approach should gain weighted fairness and also robustness against external ***,variations in the number of active sources cause a network to operate as a switched system in which the initial values affect the transient *** main contribution of this article is to design a rate-based adaptive robust queue management contemplating the initial value compensation(IVC).The congestion is avoided via Two-Degree-of-Freedom Internal Model Control protocol as a robust *** utilisation factors are designated according to the delay of each source(weighted fairness)in which the sources will use the maximum value of the bottleneck capacity(maximum utilisation).On the other hand,the number of the users is determined adaptively and effects of non-zero initial values are eliminated through a protocol called *** results through Network Simulator 2 and Simulink software confirm the analytical results and the efficacy of the proposed method.

Integral sliding-mode robust observer-based congestion control for wireless access networks

Designing a robust active queue management(RAQM)is mandatory to avoid congestion in networks with wireless access links,because transmission control protocol(TCP)can detect con-gestion after its occurrence in a communication network and wireless links suffer from bottleneck capacity variations caused by fading and packet error rate(PER)in the acknowledgement ***,the average window size cannot be measured explicitly from the output signal and input and state delay are imposed to a network,which complicate theRAQMdesign problem in nonlinear ***,the main contribution of this study is to design a robust observer based control procedure based on integral sliding mode protocol to estimate the average window size,to control congestion in a TCP/RAQM network and to compensate input and state ***-ulation results via professional simulator NS-2 and SIMULINK confirm that the procedure can effectively estimate the window size and can robustly avoid congestion.

The levels of antioxidant activity and vitamins can change with varying ratios of different *** study was conducted as a pot experiment under soilless culture conditions in order to investigate the interactive effects of light supplementation and nutrition(calfomyth solution)on some qualitative traits of tomato *** research was carried out as a split-plot experiment based on a completely randomized design with three light treatments including without supplementary light(control),60% red light+40% blue light and 90%red light+10% blue *** were two nutritional treatments including no spraying with calfomyth as commercial fertilizer and foliar application with a concentration of 2 mg/L in three *** to the results,the amounts of vitamin C(16.1 mg/g FW fruit),soluble solids(12.33 mg/g FW fruit),and lycopene(2.95 mg/g FW fruit)were all uppermost by the effect of a higher percentage of red light *** percentage of the blue light resulted in the highest leaf chlorophyll content(38.4 mg/g FW leaf),but supplementary light treatments had no significant effects on the titratable ***(calfomyth foliar application)showed positive impacts on all treatment traits compared to ***-carotene content was affected by none of the treatments with no significant *** to this research,it can be expected that the use of complementary light treatments and calfomyth foliar spray may have positive effects on most of the qualitative traits in tomato fruit(cv.240).

Evaluation of apoptotic effects of mPEG-b-PLGA coated iron oxide nanoparticles as a eupatorin carrier on DU-145 and LNCaP human prostate cancer cell lines

Many studies have so far confirmed the efficiency of phytochemicals in the treatment of prostate ***,a flavonoid with a wide range of phytomedical activities,suppresses proliferation of and induces apoptosis of multiple cancer cell ***,low solubility,poor bioavailability,and rapid degradation limit its *** aim of our study was to evaluate whether the use of mPEG-b-poly(lactic-co-glycolic)acid(PLGA)coated iron oxide nanoparticles as a carrier could enhance the therapeutic efficacy of eupatorin in DU-145 and LNcaP human prostate cancer cell *** were prepared by the co-precipitation method and were fully characterized for morphology,surface charge,particle size,drug loading,encapsulation efficiency and in vitro drug-release *** inhibitory effect of nanoparticles on cell viability was evaluated by MTT *** was then determined by Hoechest staining,cell cycle analysis,NO production,annexin/propidium iodide(PI)assay,and Western *** results indicated that eupatorin was successfully entrapped in Fe_(3)O_(4)@mPEG-b-PLGA nanoparticles with an efficacy of(90.99±2.1)%.The nanoparticle’s size was around(58.5±4)nm with a negative surface charge[(-34.16±1.3)mV].In vitro release investigation showed a 30% initial burst release of eupatorin in 24 h,followed by sustained release over 200 *** MTT assay indicated that eupatorinloaded Fe_(3)O_(4)@mPEG-b-PLGA nanoparticles exhibited a significant decrease in the growth rate of DU-145 and LNcaP cells and their IC50 concentrations were 100 μM and 75 μM,***,apoptosis was confirmed by nuclear condensation,enhancement of cell population in the sub-G1 phase and increased NO ***/PI analysis demonstrated that eupatorin-loaded Fe_(3)O_(4)@mPEG-b-PLGA nanoparticles could increase apoptosis and decrease necrosis ***,Western blotting analysis confirmed these results and showed that Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and the cleaved caspase-3 level were up-

In vitro differentiation of human umbilical cord Wharton's jelly mesenchymal stromal cells to insulin producing clusters

AIM: To investigate the differentiation of human Wharton's jelly derived mesenchymal stromal cells(WJMSCs) to insulin producing clusters(IPC) this study was conducted. METHODS: The umbilical cords samples were collected from full term caesarian section mothers and the WJ-MSCS were cultured from tissue explants in High glucose-Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium(H-DMEM); H-DMEM supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum(FBS) and antibiotics. The expression of CD90, CD44, CD105, CD34 and CD133 as well as osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of cells in appropriate medium were also evaluated. The cells were differentiated toward IPC with changing the culture medium and adding the small molecules such as nicotinic acid, epidermal growth factor, and exendin-4 during 3 wk period. The gene expression of PDX1, NGN3, Glut2, insulin was monitored by reveres transcription polymerase chain reaction method. The differentiated clusters were stained with Dithizone(DTZ) which confirms the presence of insulin granules. The insulin challenge test(low and high glucose concentration in Krebs-Ringer HEPES buffer) was also used to evaluate the functional properties of differentiated ***: WJ-MSCS were positive for mesenchymal surface markers(CD90, CD44, CD105), and negative for CD34 and CD133. The accumulation of lipid vacuoles and deposition of calcium mineral in cells were considered as adipogenic and osteogenic potential of WJ-MSCS. The cells also expressed the transcriptional factors such as Nanog and OCT4. During this three step differentiation, the WJ-MSCS morphology was gradually changed from spindle shaped cells in to epithelioid cells and eventually to three dimensional clusters. The clusters expressed PDX1, NGN3, Glut2, and insulin. The cells became bright red color when stained with DTZ and the insulin secretion was also confirmed. Redox-sensitive, PEG-shielded carboxymethyl PEI nanogels silencing MicroRNA-21, sensitizes resistant ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin

A series of branched polyethylenimine(PEI) modifications including PEGylation(PEG2 k-PEI) for steric shielding, redox-sensitive crosslinking for synthesis PEG2 k-PEI-ss nanogels and subsequent carboxymethylation(PEG2 k-CMPEI-ss) for modulation of the polymer pk a have been introduced for cellular delivery of Anti-mi R-21. The synthesis was characterized using 1 H NMR, FTIR, TNBS, potentiometric titration, particle size and ζ potential. Loading of Anti-mi R-21 at various N/P ratios was investigated by gel retardation, ethidium bromide dye exclusion, heparin sulfate competition and DNase I digestion experiments. The mi R-21 silencing was measured by stem-loop RT PCR in A2780 ovarian cancer cell lines whether it is sensitive to resistant to cisplatin. It has been shown that PEG2 k-CMPEI-ss was well suited for delivery of Anti-mi R-21 in terms of nucleic acid loading, preservation against extracellular matrix and nucleases and sequence-specific silencing of mi RNA-21 in vitro. Moreover, it has been demonstrated that pre-treating cells with Anti-mi R-21 loaded nanogels can sensitize them to cis-Pt even at non-toxic concentraions. The results indicate that PEG2 k-CMPEIss mediated micro RNA delivery can be considered as a novel strategy for ovarian cancer therapy.

Lattice Boltzmann simulation of double diffusive natural convection in a square cavity with a hot square obstacle

Double diffusion convection in a cavity with a hot square obstacle inside is simulated using the lattice Boltzmann method. The results are presented for the Rayleigh numbers 104,105 and 106, the Lewis numbers 0.1, 2 and 10 and aspect ratio A(obstacle height/cavity height) of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 for a range of buoyancy number N = 0 to- 4 with the effect of opposing flow. The results indicate that for |N| b 1, the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers decrease as buoyancy ratio increases, while for |N| N 1, they increase with |N|. As the Lewis number increases, higher buoyancy ratio is required to overcome the thermal effects and the minimum value of the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers occur at higher buoyancy ratios. The increase in the Rayleigh or Lewis number results in the formation of the multi-cell flow in the enclosure and the vortices will vanish as |N| increases.
