Reliability of power system is very essential for every nation to generate and transmit power without interruption. Power transformer is one of the most significant electrical apparatus and hence it must be kept in good health. Identification and classification of faults in power transformer is a major research area. Conventional method of fault classification in transformer uses gas concentrations data and interprets them using international standards. These standards are not able to classify the faults correctly under certain conditions. To overcome this limitation, several soft computing tools namely artificial neural network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) etc. are used to automate the process of classification of faults in transformers. However, there is a scope exists to improve the classification accuracy. Hence, this research work focuses to design Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) method for classifying fault very accurately using enthalpy of dissolved gas content in transformer oil as an input feature. The ELM method is tested with two databases: one based on IEC TC10 database (DB1) and the other one based on data collected from utilities in India (DB2). The application of ELM to Power Transformer fault classification based on enthalpy as input feature outperforms over the conventional classification based on gas concentration as input feature.

Risk factors for endophthalmitis following cataract surgery-our experience at a tertiary eye care centre in India

AIMTo determine the risk factors for acute endophthalmitis after cataract extraction in a tertiary care centre in *** performed a nested case control study within a retrospective cohort. The surgical records of all patients with clinically diagnosed endophthalmitis within one month after cataract surgery, performed between January 2006 and December 2009, were reviewed. These were compared with randomly selected age and gender-matched controls, from patients having routine cataract surgery within ±1wk of the endophthalmitis case. Univariable and multivariable analysis were performed to identify risk factors for *** the total 33 856 cataract surgeries performed during this period, there were 57 cases of postoperative acute endophthalmitis that met our study criteria. Thus, the overall incidence of endophthalmitis in our cohort was 1.6 per 1000 cataract extractions performed. Mean age of cases was 55.9y (SD: 10.9y) and for controls was 55.6y (SD: 9.8y). Thirty-five cases (61.4%) and 133 controls (59.6%) were males. Median time of onset of endophthalmitis was 4d (IQR 2-9d; range: 1-30d). Thirty-nine cases (68.4%) presented within 7d and 27 cases (47.4%) were culture positive. Two hundred and twenty-three age and gender matched controls were selected. In multivariate analysis, endophthalmitis was associated with posterior capsular rupture (PCR) during surgery (OR 6.98, 95%CI: 2.22-21.98), phacoemulsification via scleral incision with a foldable intraocular lens (IOL) implantation (OR 3.02, 95%CI: 1.13-8.04) and ocular co-morbidity (OR 2.32, 95%CI: 1.11-4.87).CONCLUSIONPCR, presence of ocular co-morbidity, and phacoemulsification via scleral incision with foldable-IOL were found to be independent risk factors for acute endophthalmitis.

Objective: To synthesize bio-inspired gold nanoparticles(AuNPs) using the leaf extract of Justicia adhatoda and evaluate the anti-cancer activity on human lung cancer cell line(A549).Methods: Synthesis of AuNPs was done using an aqueous leaf extract of Justicia adhatoda as a green route. The bio-synthesized AuNPs were confirmed and characterized by using various spectral studies such as UV-Vis spectrum, Scanning Electron Microscope with EDAX, Transmission Electron Microscope, Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscope analysis and Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy. The cell viability was determined by MTT reduction assay. In addition, cytomorphology and the nuclear morphological study of A549 cell line was observed under fluorescence microscope. Results: UV-Vis spectrum showed surface plasmon resonance peak at 547 nm, scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope studies showed the monodispersed spherical shape and its average size in the range of 40.1 nm was noticed. Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscope analysis confirmed that the C=O group of amino acids of proteins had strong ability to bind with the surface of nanoparticle. Interestingly, our results also demonstrated inhibited proliferation of A549 cell line by MTT(IC50 value: 80 μg/mL). Cell morphology was observed and cell death was caused by apoptosis as revealed by propidium iodide staining. Conclusions: The current study proves the anticancer potential of bio-synthesized AuNPs. Thus, synthesized AuNPs can be used for the treatment of human lung cancer cell(A549) and it can be exploited for drug delivery in future.

In this investigation, an approach using Coac-tive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (CANFIS) as diagnosis system for breast cancer has been proposed on Wisconsin Breast Cancer Data (WBCD). Recent days, heart ailments assume a fundamental role in the world. The physician gives different name for heart disease, for example, cardiovascular failure, heart failure and so on. Among the automated techniques to discover the coronary illness, this research work uses Named Entity Recognition (NER) algorithm to discover the equivalent words for the coronary illness content to mine the significance in clinical reports and different applications. The Heart sickness text information given by the physician is taken for the preprocessing and changes the text information to the ideal meaning, at that point the resultant text data taken as input for the prediction of heart disease. This experimental work utilizes the NER to discover the equivalent words of the coronary illness text data and currently uses the two strategies namely Optimal Deep Learning and Whale Optimization which are consolidated and proposed another strategy Optimal Deep Neural Network (ODNN) for predicting the illness. For the prediction, weights and ranges of the patient affected information by means of chosen attributes are picked for the experiment. The outcome is then characterized with the Deep Neural Network and Artificial Neural Network to discover the accuracy of the algorithms. The performance of the ODNN is assessed by means for classification methods, for example, precision, recall and f-measure values.

This paper presents the design of a controller for the measurement and reduction of conducted Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) caused in the power electronic circuits. The conducted EMI is also separating the Common Mode (CM) and Differential Mode (DM) simultaneously using Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN). EMI is mitigated by the fuzzy controller. By comparing common mode voltage with the standard reference value, the generated error can be minimized by using fuzzy controller. Fuzzy controller is varying the PWM signal of the power electronic switching devices for reducing the electromagnetic interference. In this paper, comparison of PI and fuzzy controller of the open loop and closed loop models are implemented using MATLAB® SIMULINK for measurement and reduction of the EMI level;and also simulation results of the PI controller and fuzzy controller analysis are presented in this paper. The fuzzy controller is provided to achieve the EMI level of the inverter within the standard limit.

Design of reliable wireless sensor network (WSN) needs to address the failure of single or multiple network components and implementation of the techniques to tolerate the faults occurred at various levels. The issues and requirements of reliability improvement mechanism depend on the available resources and application for which the WSN is deployed. This paper discusses the different modeling approaches to evaluate the reliability and classification of the approaches to improve it. Also the paper analyzes reliability enhancement by existing fault tolerant methods in WSN and compares the performance of these techniques with the technique we developed. From the results of the analysis we highlight the challenges and the characteristics of the sensor network affects the reliability and give some scope of future research directions in order to enhance reliability.
