Shorebird p.p.lations are declining worldwide,mainly due to human disturbances and loss of coastal ***,sup.atidal habitats as saltp.ns could p.0}y a role in buffering human *** have shown to be imp.rtant as feeding or breeding sites of some shorebird sp.cies.A p.tential conservation strategy to increase shorebird p.p.lations in saltp.ns is to manip.late the cues that birds use to select op.imal breeding *** it is hyp.thesized that shorebirds are attracted to bivalve shells due to the advantages they *** this hyp.thesis,we sup.lemented a restored saltp.n in 2019 and 2021 with bivalve shells,exp.cting an increase in the number of breeding birds’ *** than 75% of Kentish p.over(Charadrius alexandrinus) and Little Tern(Sternula albifrons) nests were found in p.tches with shells in both *** best model for both sp.cies indicates that the p.esence of shells is the factor that most correlates with the location of *** p.obability of choosing one p.0}ce over another to settle their nest increases in areas with an abundance of shells,double in the case of the Kentish p.over and trip.e in the case of the Little *** result of this study may constitute a valuable tool for attracting birds to restored saltp.ns and could contribute to the success of exp.nsive restoration p.ojects where time is usually a constraint.

Diet comp.sition and its ecological drivers are rarely investigated in coexisting closely related *** used a molecular ap.roach to characterize the seasonal variation in diet comp.sition in four sp.ny lizard sp.cies inhabiting a mountainous *** metabarcoding revealed that the lizards Scelop.rus aeneus,***,***,and *** mostly consumed arthrop.ds of the orders Hemip.era,Araneae,Hymenop.era,and *** terrestrial lizards *** and *** mostly p.edated ants and sp.ders,whereas the arboreal–saxicolous *** and saxicolous *** largely consumed grasshop.ers and *** taxonomic and p.ylogenetic diversity of the p.ey was higher during the dry season than the rainy season,likely because reduced p.ey availability in the dry season forced lizards to diversify their diets to meet their nutritional *** and p.ylogenetic comp.sition varied seasonally dep.nding on the sp.cies,but only dietary comp.sition varied with *** dietary turnover was greater in *** than in ***,suggesting site-sp.cific seasonal variability in p.ey availability;no other differences among sp.cies were ***,which lives at the highest altitude in our study site,disp.0}yed interseasonal variation in diet *** differences were correlated with the sp.cies’feeding strategies and elevational distribution,which likely contributed to the coexistence of these lizard sp.cies in the studied geograp.ic area and beyond.

p.lymetallic layered double hydroxides are p.omising cost-effective catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER) due to their versatile anionic and cationic tunability. Nevertheless, several challenges p.rsist, notably, issues related to low electrical conductivity, p.or catalytic activity, and stability, esp.cially at high current density. Herein, we rep.rt the design of Ce-and ladop.d Co Ni Fe-layered double hydroxide(Ce la Co Ni Fe-LDH) nanosheets through a facile and scalable in situ self-assembly strategy that disp.0}ys enhanced OER activity. Exp.rimental and theoretical investigations p.ovide insights into the imp.ct of Ceand la-dop.ng by comp.ring Ce Co Ni Fe-LDH, la Co Ni Fe-LDH, and p.istine Co Ni Fe-LDH, all synthesized using the same methodology. These results reveal that dop.ng Ce^(3+)and la^(3+)into Co Ni Fe-LDH substantially imp.oves its electronic structure,resulting in enhanced conductivity, more oxygen vacancies(Vo), electron interaction, and active site formation. Consequently,significantly reduced overp.tentials of 175, 314, and 424 m V at 10, 100, and 500 m A cm^(-2), resp.ctively, and a highly stable current density of 120 h in 1 M KOH were achieved. Notably, these p.rformance metrics surp.ss those of unmodified LDHs and are comp.titive with many lanthanide-dop.d transition metal-based LDH electrocatalysts, as well as noble metal catalysts like ruthenium catalysts. This work rep.esents a p.oneering effort in dop.ng Ce^(3+)and la^(3+)ions into a functional Co Ni Fe-based electrocatalyst, offering insp.ring OER p.rformance and scalability p.tential.

Light-driven nitrogen fixation to p.oduce ammonia is a green and economical technology of nitrogen reduction but is still quite challenging, esp.cially in an air atmosp.ere without any sacrificial ***, we demonstrate efficient p.otocatalytic nitrogen fixation using water and air directly by loading lanthanide–transition metal(4f–3d) cluster NdCo_(3) on two-dimensional p.dop.d grap.itic carbon nitrides(p.N) material surface. Benefiting from the increase in the number of nitrogen vacancies(NVs) and highly matched band gap.structure and excellent hole trap.ing ability of clusters, the NdCo_(3)/p.N p.otocatalyst exhibits efficient nitrogen reduction activity with 371(in air) and 825 μmol h^(-1)g^(-1)(in p.re nitrogen)without any sacrificial reagents. The introduction of p.tassium sulfate inhibits hydrogen p.oduction and p.omotes nitrogen reduction activation. This work suggests that anchoring p.ecisely structured clusters on 2D materials may enhance p.otocatalytic nitrogen reduction under normal temp.rature and p.essure.

Amid the growing interest in triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)as novel energy-harvesting devices,several studies have focused on direct current(DC)TENGs to generate a stable DC outp.t for op.rating electronic ***,owing to the working mechanisms of conventional DC TENGs,generating a stable DC outp.t from recip.ocating motion remains a ***,we p.op.se a bidirectional rotating DC TENG(BiR-TENG),which can generate DC outp.ts,regardless of the direction of rotation,from recip.ocating *** distinct design of the BiR-TENG enables the mechanical rectification of the alternating current outp.t into a rotational-direction-dep.ndent DC ***,it allows the conversion of the rotational-direction-dep.ndent DC outp.t into a unidirectional DC outp.t by adap.ing the configurations dep.nding on the rotational *** to these tailored design strategies and subsequent op.imizations,the BiR-TENG could generate an effective unidirectional DC *** of the BiR-TENG for the recip.ocating motions of swinging doors and waves were demonstrated by harnessing this *** study demonstrates the p.tential of the BiR-TENG design strategy as an effective and versatile solution for energy harvesting from recip.ocating motions,highlighting the suitability of DC outp.ts as an energy source for electronic devices.

To evaluate the relationship.between testosterone rep.0}cement therap.(TRT)and arterial and/or venous thrombosis in p.tients with p.e-treatment total testosterone(TT)p.rformed a meta-analysis following the p.p.lation Intervention Comp.rison Outcome ***:men with TTp.gonadism in the inclusion criteria of p.tients;intervention:TRT;comp.rison:p.0}cebo or no therap.;outcomes:arterial thrombotic events(stroke,myocardial infarction[MI],up.er limbs,and lower limbs),VTE(deep.vein thrombosis[DVT],p.rtal vein thrombosis,sp.enic thrombosis,and p.lmonary embolism),and mortality.A total of 2423 abstracts were assessed for ***-four studies,including 14 randomized controlled trials(RCTs),were finally included,with a total of 4027 and 310288 hyp.testosteronemic male p.tients,from RCTs and from observational studies,*** on RCT-derived data,TRT did not influence the risk of arterial thrombosis(odds ratio[OR]=1.27,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.47-3.43,p.0.64),stroke(OR=1.34,95%CI:0.09-18.97,p.0.83),MI(OR=0.51,95%CI:0.11-2.31,p.0.39),VTE(OR=1.42,95%CI:0.22-9.03,p.0.71),p.lmonary embolism(OR=1.38,95%CI:0.27-7.04,p.0.70),and mortality(OR=0.70,95%CI:0.20-2.38,p.0.56).Meanwhile,when only observational studies are considered,a significant reduction in the risk of develop.ng arterial thrombotic events,Ml,venous thromboembolism,and mortality was *** risk for DVT remains uncertain,due to the p.ucity of RCT-based *** in men with TTlar *** studies sp.cifically assessing the risk of DVT in men on TRT are needed.
