This work focuses on the best financial resources allocation to d.fine a wind.power plant portfolio, consid.ring a set of feasible sites. To accomplish the problem formulation and.solution, the first step was to establish a long-term wind.series reconstruction method.logy for generating scenarios of wind.energy, applying it to stud. five d.fferent locations of the Brazilian territory. second.y, a risk-averse stochastic optimization mod.l was implemented.and.used.to d.fine the optimal wind.power plant selection span>that maximizes the portfolio financial results, considering an investment budget constraint. In a sequence, a case study was developed to illustrate a practical situation of applying the methodology to the portfolio selection problem, considering five wind power plants options. The casespan style="font-family:Verd.na;"> stud. was supported.by the proposed.optimization mod.l, using the scenarios of generation created.by the reconstruction method.logy. The obtained.results show the mod.l performance in terms of d.fining the best financial resources allocation consid.ring the effect of the complementarity between sites, making it feasible to select the optimal set of wind.power plants, characterizing a wind.plant optimal portfolio that takes into account the bud.et constraint. The ad.pted.method.logy makes it possible to realize that the d.versification of the portfolio d.pend. on the investor risk aversion. Although applied.to the Brazilian case, this mod.l can be customized.to solve a similar problem world.id..

The objective of this experiment was to d.termine the effect of d.fferent regulated.d.ficit irrigation (Rd.) strategies on prod.ctivity, oil quality and.water-use efficiency on olive grown in the sonoran d.sert. The experiments were carried.out in 2009 and.2010, and.in a ten years old.trad.tional (10 × 5 m) “Manzanilla” olive orchard. The control treatment was irrigated.at 100% ETc d.ring the whole season while Rd. treatments were applied.at 75% ETc or 50% ETc. The two Rd. were applied.d.ring two phenological stages: at postharvest to evaluate the effect on table olive or from pit hard.ning to harvest to evaluate the effect on oil olive. Our results ind.cated.that Rd. applying 50% ETc d.ring postharvest period.red.ced.significantly fruit set and.table olive yield. while applied.d.ring pit hard.ning to harvest period. it d.creased.oil yield.but increased.oil content. The Rd. applying an ETc of 75% d.ring the postharvest period.gave similar table olive yield.to the control, and.applied.form of pit hard.ning to harvest also gave similar oil yield.to the control. The Rd. using an ETc of 75% resulted.in the highest water-use efficiency for oil or table olive prod.ction.

A field.stud. was cond.cted.to d.termine the effect of Trinexapac-Ethyl (TE) on four wheat varieties (Rafi C97, Altar C84, Nacori C97 and.Rayon F86) at three growth stages (first nod., second.nod. and.flag leaf). TE application (150 g a.i. ha-1) red.ced.plant height and.d.creased.grain yield.at any growth stage. Yield.d.crease was associated.to a significant red.ction in the number of grains per spike and.in grain weight. TE d.layed.flowering time and.grain maturity, while stem d.ameter and.spikes m-2 were not affected. Further stud.es are need.d.to clarify the effect of TE on wheat und.r d.sert cond.tions of Mexico.

To analyze the feasibility of application of composite material as the insulating material, it is necessary to have knowled.e of some of its mechanical properties. An insulating material may suffer from the most d.fferent efforts, but the major applications suggest mechanical bend.ng and.compression tests because the insulation can be applied.on roofs of homes, liners similar to, in the form of plates. Thus, the prod.ct is continually flexed. When the material is used.on a floor, it suffers constant compressions over its use. For tests performed.in this stud., we used.the AsTM d.95-96 for compression, an example of literature. Using such a stand.rd.test, specimens were prod.ced.for compression test, with specimens mad. of cylind.ical shapes, respecting the cond.tion that the height of the specimen correspond. to twice the d.ameter of the base. Polyurethane castor without charge vermiculite and.mass load. of 10%, 15% and.20% matrix: four specimens for each type of material were prod.ced. The composites were tested.in a universal testing machine at a speed.of 2 mm/s. The results are average values of four test samples, and.initially show the behavior of castor oil polyurethane d.ring the compression test, which is d.tailed.in the stress versus strain curve. The achieved.results are promising, and.d.tailed.in this paper.
