Regional sea level change in Northwest Pacific： Process, characteristic and prediction

Based on 22 sparse-distributed tide gauge records in the Northwest Pacific Ocean marginal sea, the process, characteristic and prediction of regional sea level change are discussed by the integration of the following methods. Firstly, the regularized EM algorithm （RegEM） and the Multi-taper Spectral Method （MTM） are adopted to interpret their multiscale fluctuation processes and their spatial-temporal variations. Secondly, the orderly cluster method is introduced to classify these tidal stations, and with the consideration of the space adjacent relation, we obtain five sub-regions （the coasts of Bohai Sea-northern Yellow Sea, Yellow Sea-East China Sea along Chinese coast, the East China Sea along Japanese coast, the southern East China Sea and the northwestern South China Sea）. Furthermore, the Mean Generation Function （MGF） is explored to predict the medium- and long-term trends of each tide station. Finally, the Principal Component Analysis （PCA） is employed to obtain regional-scale sea level change trends, sea level rise rates of the above five sub-regions from 2001 to 2030 are 1.23-1.27 mm/a, 3.30-3.34 mm/a, 2.72-2.76 mm/a, 1.43-1.47 mm/a and 1.13-1.15 mm/a respectively, and the whole region sea level rise rate is between 2.01 mm/a and 2.11 mm/a. The aim of our work is to conduct an integrated research on regional sea level change.

The Duroc pig has high adaptability and feeding efficiency, making it one of the most popular pig breeds worldwide. Over long periods of natural and artificial selection, genetic footprints, i.e., selective signatures, were left in the genome. In this study, a Duroc pig population （n=715） was genotyped with the Porcine SNP60K Bead Chip and the GeneSeek Genomic Profiler （GGP） Porcine Chip. The relative extended haplotype homozygosity （REHH） method was used for selective signature detection in a subset of the population （n=368）, selected to represent a balanced family structure. In total, 154 significant core regions were detected as selective signatures （,P〈0.01）, some of which overlap with previously reported quantitative trait loci associated with several economically important traits, including average daily gain and backfat thickness. Genome annotation for these significant core regions revealed a variety of interesting candidate genes including GATA3, TAF3, ATP5C1, and FGFI. These genes were functionally related to anterior/posterior pattern specification, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase signaling, embryonic skeletal system morphogenesis, and oxidation-reduction processes. This research provides knowledge for the study of selection mechanisms and breeding practices in Duroc and other pigs.

Dear Editor,This letter studies output consensus problem of heterogeneous linear multiagent systems over directed graphs. A novel adaptive dynamic event-triggered controller is presented based only on the feedback combination of the agent's own state and neighbors' output,which can achieve exponential output consensus through intermittent communication. The controller is obtained by solving two linear matrix equations, and Zeno behavior is excluded.

Fine particle detachment and subsequent migration can lead to severe pore plugging and consequent permeability decline. Therefore, it is crucial to quantify the critical condition when fine particle detachment occurs. The frequently observed deviations or even contradictions between experimental results and theoretical predictions of fines detachment arise from an insufficient understanding of adhesion force that can be highly influenced by salinity and temperature. To clarify the intrinsic influence of salinity and temperature on fines detachment, adhesion forces between carboxyl microspheres and hydrophilic silica substrates in an aqueous medium were measured at various salinities and temperatures using atomic force microscopy(AFM). The AFM-measured adhesion force decreases with increasing salinity or temperature. Trends of mean measured adhesion forces with temperature and salinity were compared with the DLVO and XDLVO theories. DLVO theory captured the trend with temperature via the impact of temperature on electric double layer interactions, whereas XDLVO theory captured the observed trend with salinity via the impact of salinity on the repulsive hydration force. Our results highlight the significance of hydration force in accurately predicting the fate of fines in porous media.

Understanding the mechanical properties of the lithologies is crucial to accurately determine the horizontal stress *** investigate the correlation between the rock mass properties and maximum horizontal stress,the three-dimensional(3D)stress tensors at 89 measuring points determined using an improved overcoring technique in nine mines in China were adopted,a newly defined characteristic parameter C_(ERP)was proposed as an indicator for evaluating the structural properties of rock masses,and a fuzzy relation matrix was established using the information distribution *** results indicate that both the vertical stress and horizontal stress exhibit a good linear growth relationship with *** is no remarkable correlation between the elastic modulus,Poisson's ratio and depth,and the distribution of data points is scattered and ***,there is no obvious relationship between the rock quality designation(RQD)and *** maximum horizontal stress σ_(H) is a function of rock properties,showing a certain linear relationship with the C_(ERP)at the same *** addition,the overall change trend of σ_(H) determined by the established fuzzy identification method is to increase with the increase of C_(ERP).The fuzzy identification method also demonstrates a relatively detailed local relationship betweenσ_H and C_(ERP),and the predicted curve rises in a fluctuating way,which is in accord well with the measured stress data.
