Oxidation Evolution and Activity Origin of n-Doped Carbon in the Oxygen Reduction Reaction

n-doped carbon materials,with their applications as electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),have been extensively ***,a negletcted fact is that the operating potential of the ORR is higher than the theoretical oxida-tion potential of carbon,possibly leading to the oxidation of carbon ***,the infl uence of the structural oxidation evolution on ORR performance and the real active sites are not *** this study,we discover a two-step oxida-tion process of n-doped carbon during the *** fi rst oxidation process is caused by the applied potential and bubbling oxygen during the ORR,leading to the oxidative dissolution of n and the formation of abundant oxygen-containing functional *** oxidation process also converts the reaction path from the four-electron(4e)ORR to the two-electron(2e)***,the enhanced 2e ORR generates oxidative H_(2)O_(2),which initiates the second stage of oxidation to some newly formed oxygen-containing functional groups,such as quinones to dicarboxyls,further diversifying the oxygen-containing functional groups and making carboxyl groups as the dominant *** also reveal the synergistic eff ect of multiple oxygen-containing functional groups by providing additional opportunities to access active sites with optimized adsorption of OOH*,thus leading to high effi ciency and durability in electrocatalytic H_(2)O_(2) production.

Effects of freeze-thaw cycles on sandstone in sunny and shady slopes

A growing rock engineering activity in cold regions is facing the threat of freeze-thaw(FT)weathering,especially in high mountains where the sunny-shady slope effects strongly control the difference in weathering behavior of *** this paper,an investigation of the degradation of petrophysical characteristics of sandstone specimens subjected to FT cycle tests to simulate the sunny-shady slope effects is *** this aim,non-destructive and repeatable testing techniques including weight,ultrasonic waves,and nuclear magnetic resonance methods on standard specimens were *** the sunny slope specimens,accompanied by the enlargement of small pores,100 FT cycles caused a significant decrease in P-wave velocity with an average of 23%,but a consistent rise of 0.18%in mass loss,34%in porosity,67%in pore geometrical mean radius,and a remarkable 14.5-fold increase in ***,slight changes with some abnormal trends in physical parameters of the shady slope specimens were observed during FT cycling,which can be attributed to superficial granular disaggregation and pore throat *** shocks enhance rock weathering on sunny slopes during FT cycles,while FT weathering on shady slopes is restricted to the small pores and the superficial *** two factors are primarily responsible for the differences in FT weathering intensity between sunny and shady *** conclusions derived from the interpretation of the experimental results may provide theoretical guidance for the design of slope-failure prevention measures and the selection of transportation routes in cold mountainous regions.

Quantum machine learning has made remarkable progress in many important ***,the gate complexity of the initial state preparation is seldom considered in lots of quantum machine learning algorithms,making them ***,we propose a quantum algorithm for the node embedding problem that maps a node graph's topological structure to embedding *** resulting quantum embedding state can be used as an input for other quantum machine learning *** O(log(n))qubits to store the information of n nodes,our algorithm will not lose quantum advantage for the subsequent quantum information ***,owing to the use of a parameterized quantum circuit with O(poly(log(n)))depth,the resulting state can serve as an efficient quantum *** addition,we explored the measurement complexity of the quantum node embedding algorithm,which is the main issue in training parameters,and extended the algorithm to capture high-order neighborhood information between ***,we experimentally demonstrated our algorithm on an nuclear magnetic resonance quantum processor to solve a graph model.

Enhancing corrosion resistance of plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings on AM50 Mg alloy by inhibitor containing Ba(nO_(3))_(2) solutions

To enhance the long-term corrosion resistance of the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coating on the magnesium(Mg)alloy,an inorganic salt combined with corrosion inhibitors was used for posttreatment of the *** this study,the corrosion performance of PEO-coated AM50 Mg was significantly improved by loading sodium lauryl sulfonate(SDS)and sodium dodecyl benzene sulf-onate into Ba(nO_(3))_(2) post-sealing *** electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,and ultraviolet-visible analyses showed that the inhibitors enhanced the incorporation of BaO_(2) into PEO *** impedance showed that post-sealing in Ba(nO_(3))_(2)/SDS treatment enhanced corrosion resistance by three orders of *** total impedance value remained at 926Ω·cm^(2)after immersing in a 0.5wt%naCl solution for 768 h.A salt spray test for 40 days did not show any obvious region of corrosion,proving excellent post-sealing by Ba(nO_(3))_(2)/SDS *** corrosion resistance of the coating was enhanced through the synergistic effect of BaO2 pore sealing and SDS adsorption.

Effect of preload forces on multidimensional signal dynamic behaviours for battery early safety warning

Providing early safety warning for batteries in real-world applications is *** this study,comprehensive thermal abuse experiments are conducted to clarify the multidimensional signal evolution of battery failure under various preload *** time-sequence relationship among expansion force,voltage,and temperature during thermal abuse under five categorised stages is *** characteristic peaks are identified for the expansion force,which correspond to venting,internal short-circuiting,and thermal *** particular,an abnormal expansion force signal can be detected at temperatures as low as 42.4°C,followed by battery thermal runaway in approximately 6.5 ***,reducing the preload force can improve the effectiveness of the early-warning method via the expansion ***,reducing the preload force from 6000 to 1000 n prolongs the warning time(i.e.,227 to 398 s)before thermal runaway is *** on the results,a notable expansion force early-warning method is proposed that can successfully enable early safety warning approximately 375 s ahead of battery thermal runaway and effectively prevent failure propagation with module *** study provides a practical reference for the development of timely and accurate early-warning strategies as well as guidance for the design of safer battery systems.

Metal-free graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)n_(4))has captured significant attention as a low-cost and efficient hydrogen production photocatalyst *** regulating the microstructure and accelerating the separation of photogenerated carriers remain crucial strategies for promoting the photocatalytic performance of this ***,a novel sulfur–carbon co-doped g-C_(3)n_(4)(SCCn)hierarchical microtubules filled with abundant nanosheets inside by thermal polymerization is *** nanosheets create abundant pores and cavities inside the SCCn microtubes,thereby increasing the specific surface area of g-C_(3)n_(4)and providing sufficient reactant attachment ***,the hierarchical structure of SCCn microtubules strengthens the reflection and scattering of light,and the utilization of visible light is favorably *** importantly,co-doping S and C has greatly improved the photocatalytic performance of graphitic carbon nitride,optimized the band gap structure and enhanced the photogenerated carrier ***,the SCCn exhibits a remarkable photocatalytic H_(2)evolution rate of 4868μmol/(g·h).This work demonstrates the potential of multi-nonmetal doped g-C_(3)n_(4)as the ideal photocatalyst for H2 evolution.

Flowing water can be used as an energy source for generators,providing a major part of the energy for daily ***,water is rarely used for information or electronic ***,we present the feasibility of a polarized liquid-triggered photodetector in which polarized water is sandwiched between graphene and a *** to the polarization and depolarization processes of water molecules driven by photogenerated carriers,a photo-sensitive current can be repeatedly produced,resulting in a high-performance *** response wavelength of the photodetector can be fine-tuned as a result of the free choice of semiconductors as there is no requirement of lattice match between graphene and the *** zero voltage bias,the responsivity and specific detectivity of Gr/naCl(0.5 M)W/n-Gan reach values of 130.7 mA/W and 2.3×10^(9)Jones under 350 nm illumination,***,using a polar liquid photodetector can successfully read the photoplethysmography signals to produce accurate oxygen blood saturation and heart *** with the commercial pulse oximetry sensor,the average errors of oxygen saturation and heart rate in the designed photoplethysmography sensor are~1.9%and~2.1%,*** study reveals that water can be used as a high-performance photodetector in informative industries.

Fabrication of CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2) photocatalyst with intrinsic p-n junction for highly efficient bisphenol A degradation

The construction and application of novel highly efficient photocatalysts have been the focus in the field of environmental pollutant *** this work,a novel CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)photocatalysts were synthesized by simple hydrothermal and chemical precipitation *** fabricated CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)composite exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than pristine CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)in the removal of bisphenol A(BPA)under visible-light illumination,which ascribed to the intrinsic p-n junction of CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2).The photocatalytic degradation rate of BPA on CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)with an optimized CuFe_(2)O_(4)content(1.0 wt.%)reached 93.0%within 30 *** capture experiments of active species confirmed that the hydroxyl radicals(·OH)and superoxide radicals(·O_(2)^(-))played crucial roles in photocatalytic BPA degradation ***,the possible degradation mechanism and pathways of BPA was proposed according to the detected intermediates in photocatalytic reaction process.
