Protective Effect and Mechanism of Kuntai Capsule on Angiotensin II-Induced Hypertension in Ovariectomized Rats

Objective To explore the protective effect and mechanism of Kuntai(KT)Capsule on angiotensin II(Ang II)-induced hypertension in ovariectomized(OVX)rats.Methods Fifty-four rats were randomly divided into 6 groups according to a random number table,9 in each group:control,OVX sham+Ang II,OVX,OVX+Ang II,OVX+Ang II+E2,and OVX+Ang II+KT.OVX rats model was constructed by retroperitoneal bilateral ovariectomy.After 4 weeks of pretreatment with KT Capsule[0.8 g/(kg·d)and 17-β-estradiol(E2,1.2 mg/(kg·d)]respectively,Ang II was injected into a micro-osmotic pump with a syringe to establish a hypertensive rat model.Blood pressure of rat tail artery was measured in a wake state of rats using a non-invasive sphygmomanometer.Blood pressure changes were compared between the intervention groups(OVX+Ang II+KT,OVX+Ang II+E2)and the negative control group(OVX+Ang II).Serum malondialdehyde(MDA)level and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity were detected respectively.The expressions of oxidative stress-related protein superoxide dismutase2(SOD2)and anti-thioredoxin(TRX),autophagy marker protein[beclin1,light chain(LC)3 II/I ratio and autophagy canonical pathway protein phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/serine/threonine kinase(AKT)-mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)]were evaluated by Western blotting.Results Compared with the OVX+Ang II group,the systolic blood pressure of OVX+Ang II+KT group was significantly lowered(Plusion KT could protect blood pressure of Ang II-induced OVX rats by inhibiting

Global air pollution has become a major threat to human health. Daily variations in air pollution have been linked to increased risks of cardiopulmonaryrelated morbidity and mortality. In particular, fine particulate matter(PM) with an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 2.5 μm(PM2.5), which mostly originates from coal combustion, vehicle exhaust, and open sources in Chinese cities, is detrimental to health[1].Epidemiological and experimental investigations have demonstrated that long-term exposure to PM2.5, the most dangerous particulate in the Earth’s atmosphere, is a pivotal risk factor for cardiorespiratory diseases.

High mercury leachate containing HgS22- complex ion： Detoxifying solidification and high efficiency Hg extraction

Clean and efficient treatment of high-mercury leachate produced from remediation of mercury-polluted soil has become a huge challenge for environmental scientists. In this work, cement solidification was firstly adopted to treat the high-concentration mercury leachate, which had high alkalinity. Different mercury concentrations, namely 3.120 mg/L Hg mercury leachate and 9.243 mg/L Hg mercury concentrated leachate, were separately solidified by Portland cement. The results indicated that simply using the cement can properly solidify both the leachates to meet the waste landfill standard, with liquid （mL）/solid （g） ratio （US ratio） of 4：10-6：10. In order to make full use of mercury in the leachates, a Hg extraction method was subsequently carried out under different experimental parameters, such as temperature and pH value. It was shown that the Hg extraction ratio could reach as high as 99.84% and almost all the mercury in the leachate could be transformed to HgS precipitate; moreover, the Hg concentration in the treated leachate was reduced from 3.120 to 0.005 mg/L at pH 2.98 and 30℃, which was much less than the limit of the national standard, indicating that the leachate had been completely cleaned and could be discharged freely. Hence, simple cement solidification renders high-mercury leachate nontoxic, and the Hg extraction method can successfully recover the Hg and enable the residual leachate to be discharged safely.

Let H=(V,E)be an n-balanced k-partite k-graph with partition classes V1,...,Vk.Suppose for every legal(k-1)-tuple f contained in V\V1 and for every legal(k-1)-tuple g contained in V\Vk such that f∪g■E(H),we have d(f)+d(g)≥n+1.In this paper,we prove that under this condition H must have a perfect matching.Another result of this paper is about the perfect matching in 3-uniform hm-bipartite hypergraphs.Let G be a 3-uniform hm-bipartite hypergraph with one of whose sides V1 has the size n,the another side V2 has size 2 n.If for all the legal 2-tuple f with|f∩V1|=1 and for all the legal 2-tuple g with|g∩V1|=0,we have d(f)≥n-2 and d(g)>n/2,then G has a perfect matching.

Large-scale 3D Semantic Mapping Using Stereo Vision

In recent years, there have been a lot of interests in incorporating semantics into simultaneous localization and mapping （SLAM） systems. This paper presents an approach to generate an outdoor large-scale 3D dense semantic map based on binocular stereo vision. The inputs to system are stereo color images from a moving vehicle. First, dense 3D space around the vehicle is constructed, and tile motion of camera is estimated by visual odometry. Meanwhile, semantic segmentation is performed through the deep learning technology online, and the semantic labels are also used to verify tim feature matching in visual odometry. These three processes calculate the motion, depth and semantic label of every pixel in the input views. Then, a voxel conditional random field （CRF） inference is introduced to fuse semantic labels to voxel. After that, we present a method to remove the moving objects by incorporating the semantic labels, which improves the motion segmentation accuracy. The last is to generate tile dense 3D semantic map of an urban environment from arbitrary long image sequence. We evaluate our approach on KITTI vision benchmark, and the results show that the proposed method is effective.

This paper studies the sweep and ejection events in a channel flow with Reτ = 80 by using Direct Numerical Simulation （DNS）. The effects of ejection and sweep events on the transport of fluid particles are analyzed separately through a quadrant technique. By analyzing trajectories of the particles released at different wall-normal locations, it is found that the particles from the ejection events mainly move upward while the particles from the sweep events move downward of the flow during short and intermediate diffusion time durations. Numerical results show that the effects of the ejection and sweep events on the mean displacement and the mean square dispersion remain for a long time, one-order of magnitude larger than the streamwise Lagrangian integral ~cales.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT)via biventricu-lar pacing(BVP)is known to improve clinical outcomes and decreases all-cause mortality,particularly in patients with left bundle branch block(LBBB)and reduced left ventricular(LV)function.[1]Recently,several groups have shown the feasibility of left bundle branch area pacing(LBBAP)as an alternative choice to His bundle pacing in patients with LBBB by pacing the left bundle branch(LBB)region beyond the block site with a stable threshold and a short QRS duration(QRSd).[2,3]However,it is unknown whether the clinical efficacy of LBBAP with an appropriate atrioventricular(AV)delay would be the same as or better than that of LV epicardial pacing or CRT.

Electroacupuncture Promotes Functional Recovery after Facial Nerve Injury in Rats by Regulating Autophagy via GDNF and PI3K/m TOR Signaling Pathway

Objective:To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture(EA) in promoting recovery of the facial function with the involvement of autophagy,glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF),and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR) signaling pathway.Methods:Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into the control,sham-operated,facial nerve injury(FNI),EA,EA+3-methyladenine(3-MA),and EA+GDNF antagonist groups using a random number table,with 12 rats in each group.An FNI rat model was established with facial nerve crushing method.EA intervention was conducted at Dicang(ST 4),Jiache(ST 6),Yifeng(SJ 17),and Hegu(LI 4) acupoints for 2 weeks.The Simone’s 10-Point Scale was utilized to monitor the recovery of facial function.The histopathological evaluation of facial nerves was performed using hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining.The levels of Beclin-1,light chain 3(LC3),and P62 were detected by immunohistochemistry(IHC),immunofluorescence,and reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction,respectively.Additionally,IHC was also used to detect the levels of GDNF,Rai,PI3K,and mTOR.Results:The facial functional scores were significantly increased in the EA group than the FNI group(Plusions:EA could promote the recovery of facial function and repair the facial nerve damages in a rat model of FNI.EA may exert this neuroreparative effect through mediating the release of GDNF,activating the PI3

This paper is a discussion of Professor Tang Nong’s approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)while providing a case report at the end.Professor Tang Nong considered that the main etiologies of the disease are"cold,wet,and poisonous."He suggested resolving the body’s dampness by balancing internal organ functions,detoxifying the lungs,and providing heat.However,the treatment of cold with herbs and cleansing heat must not be performed too early to prevent the spread of the disease.Using principles from the basic theory of Fuyang Pai from traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),this project used the Huashi Qingfei immune formula(modified Guizhi Erchen decoction),which has been shown to be effective,to treat patients diagnosed with COVID-19.At present,the participation of TCM in our hospital is over 96%with a cure rate of approximately 90%.

Establishment of a cholangiocarcinoma risk evaluation model based on mucin expression levels

BACKGROUND Cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)is a highly malignant cancer,characterized by frequent mucin overexpression.MUC1 has been identified as a critical oncogene in the progression of CCA.However,the comprehensive understanding of how the mucin family influences CCA progression and prognosis is still incomplete.AIM To investigate the functions of mucins on the progression of CCA and to establish a risk evaluation formula for stratifying CCA patients.METHODS Single-cell RNA sequencing data from 14 CCA samples were employed for elucidating the roles of mucins,complemented by bioinformatic analyses.Subse-quent validations were conducted through spatial transcriptomics and immuno-histochemistry.The construction of a risk evaluation model utilized the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression algorithm,which was further confirmed by independent cohorts and diverse data types.RESULTS CCA tumor cells with elevated levels of MUC1 and MUC4 showed activated nucleotide metabolic pathways and increased invasiveness.MUC5AC-high cells were found to promote CCA progression through WNT signaling.MUC5B-high cells exhibited robust cellular oxidation activities,leading to resistance against antitumoral treatments.MUC13-high cells were observed to secret chemokines,recruiting and transforming macrophages into the M2-polarized state,thereby suppressing antitumor immunity.MUC16-high cells were found to promote tumor progression through interleukin-1/nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells signaling upon interaction with neutrophils.Utilizing the expression levels of these mucins,a risk factor evaluation formula for CCA was developed and validated across multiple cohorts.CCA samples with higher risk factors exhibited stronger metastatic potential,chemotherapy resistance,and poorer prognosis.CONCluSION Our study elucidates the functional mechanisms through which mucins contribute to CCA development,and provides tools for risk stratification in CCA.
