Development of synthetic bone substitutes has arisen as a major research interest in the need to find an alternative to autologous bone *** an ovine model,the present pre-clinical study presents a synthetic bone graft(BonelikeVR)in combination with a cellular system as an alternative for the regeneration of non-critical *** association of biomaterials and cell-based therapies is a promising strategy for bone tissue *** stem cells(mScs)from human dental pulp have demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo to interact with diverse biomaterial systems and promote mineral deposition,aiming at the reconstruction of osseous ***,these cells can be found and isolated from many ***-critical bone defects were treated with BonelikeVR with or without mScs obtained from the human dental *** showed that BonelikeVR and mScs treated defects showed improved bone regeneration compared with the defects treated with BonelikeVR ***,it was observed that the biomaterial matrix was reabsorbed and gradually replaced by new bone during the healing *** therefore propose this combination as an efficient binomial strategy that promotes bone growth and vascularization in non-critical bone defects.

Effects of forced aeration on community dynamics of free and attached bacteria in copper sulphide ore bioleaching

Bacterial community dynamics and copper leaching with applied forced aeration were investigated during low-grade copper sulphide bioleaching to obtain better bioleaching *** illustrated that appropriate aeration improved bacterial concentrations and leaching *** highest bacterial concentration and cu^(2+)concentration after 14-d leaching were 7.61×10^(7) cells·mL^(−1) and 704.9 mg·L^(−1),respectively,at aeration duration of 4 h·d^(−1).The attached bacteria played a significant role during bioleaching from 1 to 7 ***,free bacteria dominated the bioleaching processes from 8 to 14 *** phenomenon was mainly caused by the formation of passivation layer through Fe3+hydrolysis along with bioleaching,which inhibited the contact between the attached bacteria and ***,16S rDNA analysis verified the effect of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans on the bioleaching *** results demonstrate the importance of free and attached bacteria in bioleaching.

NiWO4 powders prepared via polymeric precursor method for application as ceramic luminescent pigments

Ni WO4 was prepared using the polymeric precursor method and studied in terms of physical and chemical properties to verify its stability for industrial applications as *** characterization was accomplished using thermal analyses,X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEm),photoluminescence(PL)and UV–Vis spectroscopies,colorimetric coordinates,and Raman *** the temperature,successive exothermic reactions were observed and they are related with thermal decomposition of the organic *** stability was reached at^700℃.The material is verified to become completely free of second phase at^800℃.The end Ni WO4 powders showed an intense charge transfer(cT)-related tail centered in the ultraviolet region,resulting in a yellow *** addition,the powders exhibited broad excitation band and broad deep blue–green emission band,which were enhanced with increasing powders’crystallinity.

Hydrodynamics of the interceptor on a 2-D flat plate by cFD and experiments

Nowadays, the use of interceptor by both partial and total dynamic lift crafts is quite common. in this article, a lot of evidence is given regarding the effectiveness of interceptor. The interceptor, when placed at the stern region, changes the pressure distribution around the craft. its presence affects drag force, lifting force and the position of pressure＇s center leading to a new trim. This study focuses on hydrodynamic effects of interceptors on a 2-D fiat plate based on both computational fluid dynamic （cFD） and experimental approaches. The Reynolds average Navier-Stokes （RANS） equations are used to model the flow around a fixed flat plate with an interceptor at different heights and attack angles. Based on finite volume method and SimPLE algorithm which uses static structures, this model can be analyzed and the RANS results can be compared with the experimental data obtained in the current channel of the laboratory of waves and current of cOPPE/UFRJ （loc in Portuguese acronym）. According to the results, the increase of pressure at the end of the flat plate was proportional to the interceptor height. in addition, the existence of interceptors can significantly increase the lift force coefficient at high angles of attack also proportional to the interceptor height. The presence of interceptor at the end of the fiat plate increased both the lift coefficient and the drag coefficient but hydrodynamic drag did not grow as fast as the lift coefficient did. The lift coefficient increased much more. Furthermore, the results showed that the interceptor effectiveness is proportional to the boundary layer thickness at the end of the fiat plate. As the interceptor was inside the boundary layer alterations of flow speed led to changes in boundary layer thickness, directly affecting interceptor＇s efficiency. Optimum choice of interceptor height had a great effect on its efficiency, and in choosing it the flow speed and length of the boat must be taken into consideration.

A code-independent technique for computational verification of fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems

The goal of this paper is to present a versatile framework for solution verification of PDE＇s. We first generalize the Richardson Extrapolation technique to an optimized extrapolation solution procedure that constructs the best consistent solution from a set of two or three coarse grid solution in the discrete norm of choice. This technique generalizes the Least Square Extrapolation method introduced by one of the author and W. Shyy. We second establish the conditioning number of the problem in a reduced space that approximates the main feature of the numerical solution thanks to a sensitivity analysis. Overall our method produces an a posteriori error estimation in this reduced space of approximation. The key feature of our method is that our construction does not require an internal knowledge of the software neither the source code that produces the solution to be verified. it can be applied in principle as a postprocessing procedure to off the shelf commercial code. We demonstrate the robustness of our method with two steady problems that are separately an incompressible back step flow test case and a heat transfer problem for a battery. Our error estimate might be ultimately verified with a near by manufactured solution. While our pro- cedure is systematic and requires numerous computation of residuals, one can take advantage of distributed computing to get quickly the error estimate.

Undoped nickel-based catalysts supported on depleted uranium oxide allow one to carry out cO_(2)methanation process under extremely low reaction temperature under atmospheric pressure and powered by a contactless induction *** adjusting the reaction conditions,the catalyst is able to perform cO_(2)methanation reaction under autothermal process operated inside a non-adiabatic reactor,without any external energy *** autothermal process is possible thanks to the high apparent density of the UO_x which allows one to confine the reaction heat in a small catalyst volume in order to confine the exothermicity of the reaction inside the catalyst and to operate the reaction at equilibrium heat in-heat *** autothermal operation mode allows one to significantly reduce the complexity of the process compared to that operated using adiabatic reactor,where complete insulation is required to prevent heat disequilibrium,in order to reduce as much as possible,the heat exchange with the external *** catalyst displays an extremely high stability as a function of time on stream as no apparent *** is expected that such new catalyst with unprecedented catalytic performance could open new era in the field of heterogeneous catalysis where traditional supports show their limitations to operate catalytic processes under severe reaction conditions.
