Experimental Study of Local Scour Around Four Piles Under Different Attack Angles and Gap Ratios

In an effort to investigate and quantify the patterns of local scour,researchers embarked on an in-depth study using a systematic experimental *** research focused on the effects of local scour around a set of four piles,each subjected to different hydromechanical *** particular,this study aimed to determine how different attack angles—the angles at which the water flow impinges on the piles,and gap ratios—the ratios of the spacing between the piles to their diameters,influence the extent and nature of scour.A comprehensive series of 35 carefully designed experiments were orchestrated,each designed to dissect the nuances in how the gap ratio and attack angle might contribute to changes in the local scour observed at the base of pile *** these experimental trials,a wealth of local scour data were collected to support the *** data included precise topographic profiles of the sediment bed around the pile groups,as well as detailed scour time histories showing the evolution of scour at strategic feature points throughout the test *** analysis of the experimental data provided interesting *** study revealed that the interplay between the gap ratio and the attack angle had a pronounced influence on the scouring dynamics of the pile *** of the key observations was that the initial phases of scour,particularly within the first hour of water flow exposure,were characterized by a sharp increase in the scour depth occurring immediately in front of the *** this initial rapid development,the scour depth transitioned to a more gradual change *** contrast,the scour topography around the piles continuously *** suggests that sediment displacement and the associated sculpting of the seabed around pile foundations are sustained and progressive processes,altering the underwater landscape over *** results of this empirical investigation have significant implications for the design and constructio

Numerical study of a bi-directional in-band pumped dysprosium-doped fluoride fiber laser at 3.2μm

Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber lasers have important applications in environment monitoring,real-time sensing,and polymer *** present,achieving a high-efficiency and high-power Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber laser in the mid-infrared(mid-IR)region over 3μm is a scientific and technological ***,Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber lasers use a unidirectional pumping method,which suffers from the drawback of high thermal loading density on the fiber tips,thus limiting power *** this study,a bi-directional in-band pumping scheme,to address the limitations of output power scaling and to enhance the efficiency of the Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber laser at 3.2μm,is investigated numerically based on rate equations and propagation *** simulation results reveal that the optical‒optical efficiency of the bi-directional in-band pumped Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber laser can reach 75.1%,approaching the Stokes limit of 87.3%.The potential for further improvement of the efficiency of the Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber laser is also *** bi-directional pumping scheme offers the intrinsic advantage of mitigating the thermal load on the fiber tips,unlike unidirectional pumping,in addition to its high *** a result,it is expected to significantly scale the power output of Dy^(3+)-doped fluoride fiber lasers in the mid-IR regime.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is one of the most common childhood malignancies. Sixty percent of patients present with widely disseminated clinical signs at diagnosis and exhibit poor outcomes. However, the molecular mechanisms triggering NB metastasis remain largely uncharacterized. In this study, we generated a transcriptomic atlas of 15 447 NB cells from eight NB samples, including paired samples of primary tumors and bone marrow metastases. We used time-resolved analysis to chart the evolutionary trajectory of NB cells from the primary tumor to the metastases in the same patient and identified a common 'starter' subpopulation that initiates tumor development and metastasis. The 'starter' population exhibited high expression levels of multiple cell cycle-related genes, indicating the important role of cell cycle upregulation in NB tumor progression. In addition, our evolutionary trajectory analysis demonstrated the involvement of partial epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (p-EMT) along the metastatic route from the primary site to the bone marrow. Our study provides insights into the program driving NB metastasis and presents a signature of metastasis-initiating cells as an independent prognostic indicator and potential therapeutic target to inhibit the initiation of NB metastasis.

Photocatalytic water splitting has emerged as a new frontier for converting solar energy to green H_(2) and value-added ***,great challenges still remain for developing efficient photocatalysts for pure water splitting without sacrificial *** this work,we demonstrate that doping hexagonal ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS) with Pd single atoms(Pd_(0.03)/ZIS) can serve as a highly efficient photocatalyst for pure water splitting to simultaneously produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) without any sacrificial *** from aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy,X-ray fine spectroscopy,insitu electron paramagnetic resonance and diffuse Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveal that doping ZIS with Pd single atoms facilitates the formation of S vacancies(S_(v)),where the photogenerated electrons can transfer to Pd single atoms,as a result of enhanced separation of electron-hole pairs and improved photocatalytic ***,Pd_(0.03)/ZIS displays a stoichiometric ratio of H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) with the productivity of 1,037.9 and 1,021.4μmol g^(-1)h^(-1),respectively,which has largely outperformed pure ZIS and other reported catalysts for pure water *** work provides an efficient photocatalyst for water splitting to produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2),which may attract rapid interest in materials science,chemistry,and heterogeneous catalysis.

We explored a new approach to search for a low-mass Z′particle through J/ψdecays by identifying its existence through parity-violating phenomena in the isospin-violating final states ofΛΣ¯^(0)and the corresponding charge conjugated states ofΛΣ¯^(0).Our investigation centered on a generation-independent and leptophobic Z′with mass below 10 *** the present experimental conditions at Beijing Spectrometer III(BESIII)and the anticipated opportunities at the Super Tau Charm Factory(STCF),we conducted Monte-Carlo simulations to predict possible events at both ***,we foresee a substantial enhancement in the precision of the lower limit estimation ofαNP as well as a reduction in statistical uncertainty with upcoming STCF ***,it is essential to highlight that a null result in the measurement ofαNP would impose stringent constraints,requiring the Z′−q−q couplings to be in the order of 10^(−2).

Attributing to the rapid demand expansion for the edible medicinal materials in the market,the limited throughput of highperformance liquid chromatography-multiple reaction monitoring(HPLC-MRM)cannot fully address the measurement workload for a huge number of testing ***,it is urgent to pursue more efficient approaches for the quality *** of the greater selectivity of MRM cubed(MRM^(3))over MRM,there might be a chance to omit the time-intensive LC *** current study,we attempted to develop a direct infusion(DI)-MRM^(3) program,and the applicability was thereafter assessed through simultaneous determination of four ganoderic acids(GAs)in one of the most famous tonic herbal medicines namely Ganoderma(Chinese name:Lingzhi).Primary parameters such as Q1>Q3>QLIT ion transitions,collision energy(CE),and excitation energy were optimized by programming online energy-resolved mass spectrometry with authentic compounds.A single DI-MRM measurement merely costed four minutes,and in spite of the wide occurrences of isomers,satisfactory selectivity was *** validation assays demonstrated the method to be sensitive,precise,accurate,and *** quantitative results from DI-MRM^(3) were also justified by conducting LC-MRM measurements in *** differences occurred for the content patterns between the two original sources namely Ganoderma lucidum and ***,and,moreover,either cultivar or harvest time showed dramatical influence on the quantitative features of the four targeted *** importantly,DI-MRM3 is a meaningful analytical option for rapid quantitative analysis of herbal medicines,because of the comparable reliability,nonetheless,less consumptions of both measurement time and solvent,compared with LC-MRM.

Development and validation of a nomogram model for predicting the risk of gallstone recurrence after gallbladder-preserving surgery

Background:The high incidence of gallstone recurrence was a major concern for laparoscopic gallbladderpreserving *** study aimed to investigate the risk factors for gallstone recurrence after gallbladder-preserving surgery and to establish an individualized nomogram model to predict the risk of gallstone ***:The clinicopathological and follow-up data of 183 patients who were initially diagnosed with gallstones and treated with gallbladder-preserving surgery at our hospital from January 2012 to January 2019 were retrospectively *** independent predictive factors for gallstone recurrence following gallbladder-preserving surgery were identified by multivariate logistic regression analysis.A nomogram model for the prediction of gallstone recurrence was constructed based on the selected *** C-index,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and calibration curve were used to evaluate the predictive power of the nomogram model for gallstone ***:During the follow-up period,a total of 65 patients experienced gallstone recurrence,and the recurrence rate was 35.5%.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the course of gallstones>2 years[odds ratio(OR)=2.567,95%confidence interval(CI):1.270-5.187,P=0.009],symptomatic gallstones(OR=2.589,95%CI:1.059-6.329,P=0.037),multiple gallstones(OR=2.436,95%CI:1.133-5.237,P=0.023),history of acute cholecystitis(OR=2.778,95%CI:1.178-6.549,P=0.020)and a greasy diet(OR=2.319,95%CI:1.186-4.535,P=0.014)were independent risk factors for gallstone recurrence after gallbladder-preserving surgery.A nomogram model for predicting the recurrence of gallstones was established based on the above five *** results showed that the C-index of the nomogram model was 0.692,suggesting it was valuable to predict gallstone ***,the calibration curve showed good consistency between the predicted probability and actual ***:The nomogram model for

Lithium-ion battery(LIB)is the key technology for climate change *** sustainability of LIB supply chain has caused widespread concern since the material utilization efficiency of LIB supply chain has not been well *** study aims to fill this research gap by conducting a dynamic material flow analysis of lithium in China from 2015 to *** indicate that within the temporal boundary,lithium flow and in-use stock grew significantly in China due to the rapid development of the EV market,with lithium flow in domestic production of basic chemicals increasing by 614%to 100 kt,end-use consumption increasing by 160%to 35 kt,and in-use stock increasing by 62%to 195 *** has been a net importer of lithium,of which cumulative imports and exports were 343 kt and 169 kt,*** addition,103 kt of lithium was converted to inventories or was lost during the processing from 2015 to *** optimizing inventory and processing,developing substitutes for lithium for non-battery applications,and improving lithium recycling,China's net import dependency of lithium could be reduced from 27%-86%to 0%-16%.Our study demonstrates that it is urgent to improve material utilization efficiency so that the lithium resource supply can be secured.
