Serum procalcitonin levels are associated with rhabdomyolysis following exertional heatstroke: an over 10-year intensive care survey

BACKGROUND:Heatstroke has become a common emergency event in hospitals.Procalcitonin(PCT)is used as a biomarker of infection in the emergency department(ED),but its role in rhabdomyolysis(RM)following exertional heatstroke(EHS)remains unclear.METHODS:A retrospective cohort study enrolled patients with EHS from the intensive care unit(ICU).We collected RM biomarkers,inflammation markers,critical disease scores at admission,24 h,48 h,and discharge,and 90-day mortality.Correlation analysis,linear regression and curve fi tting were used to identify the relationship between PCT and RM.RESULTS:A total of 162 patients were recruited and divided into RM(n=56)and non-RM(n=106)groups.PCT was positively correlated with myoglobin(Mb),acute hepatic injury,disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC),Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score,and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II(APACHE II)score,with correlation coefficients of 0.214,0.237,0.285,0.454,and 0.368,respectively(all P<0.05).Interestingly,the results of curve fi tting revealed a nonlinear relationship between PCT and RM,and a two-piecewise linear regression model showed that PCT was related to RM with an odds ratio of 1.3 and a cut-off of<4.6 ng/mL.Survival analysis revealed that RM was associated with higher mortality compared to non-RM cases(P=0.0093).CONCLUSION:High serum PCT concentrations are associated with RM after EHS in critically ill patients.Elevated PCT concentrations should be interpreted cautiously in patients with EHS in the ED.

Protective mechanisms of Tuina therapy against lipopolysaccharide-induced fever in young rabbits based on untargeted metabolomics analysis

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of Tuina on the plasma metabolites of lipopolysaccharide-induced febrile in infant rabbits.METHODS:Twenty-four infant New Zealand rabbits were selected and randomly divided into three groups:saline,model,and Tuina.The fever model was established by injecting LPS intravenously through the ear margin vein in the model group and Tuina group,respectively.The modeling was considered successful when the anal temperature increased by 0.5℃or above within 1 h.In the Tuina group,six Tuina techniques(i.e.,opening Tianmen/the heaven gate,pushing Kangong/the superciliary arch,kneading Taiyang and the prominent bone behind the ears,clearing Tianheshui,spine pinching)that alleviate fever were performed on the young rabbits 1 h after the modeling,whereas the model and saline groups were not given Tuina treatment,with the real-time anal temperature monitored during the experiment.The plasma was taken 3 h after the modeling for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS)untargeted metabolomics study.RESULTS:Our results showed a fever-reducing effects of Tuina therapy on lipopolysaccharide-induced fever in young rabbits,as indicated by a significantly lower anal temperature,maximum rise in body temperature,and body response index at 2 and 3 h after modeling in the Tuina group compared to the model group,with reductions in the PGE2 expression observed in the blood and hypothalamus.The differential metabolites including riboflavin,nicotinamide N-oxide,porphobilinogen,5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid,gamma-aminobutyric acid,and lysoPC(16:1(9Z)/0:0)were found following the Tuina intervention.Tuina primarily involves glycine-serinethreonine,arginine-proline,porphyrin-chlorophyll,pyrimidine,primary bile acid biosynthesis,and cyanoamino acid metabolic pathways.CONCLUSION:Tuina therapy has proven to be effective in reducing body temperature and down-regulating PGE2 expression in LPS-induced febrile young rabbits,with its mechanism of fever-reducing action possibly associated with the changes in plasma metab

Detection of Al, Mg, Ca, and Zn in copper slag by LIBS combined with calibration curve and PLSR methods

The precise measurement of Al, Mg, Ca, and Zn composition in copper slag is crucial for effective process control of copper pyrometallurgy. In this study, a remote laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) system was utilized for the spectral analysis of copper slag samples at a distance of 2.5 m. The composition of copper slag was then analyzed using both the calibration curve(CC) method and the partial least squares regression(PLSR) analysis method based on the characteristic spectral intensity ratio. The performance of the two analysis methods was gauged through the determination coefficient(R^(2)), average relative error(ARE), root mean square error of calibration(RMSEC), and root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP). The results demonstrate that the PLSR method significantly improved both R^(2) for the calibration and test sets while reducing ARE, RMSEC, and RMSEP by 50% compared to the CC method. The results suggest that the combination of LIBS and PLSR is a viable approach for effectively detecting the elemental concentration in copper slag and holds potential for online detection of the elemental composition of high-temperature molten copper slag.

【目的】对可解释机器学习方法及其在信息资源管理领域的应用研究进行梳理和总结,发现不足并做出展望。【文献范围】使用可解释机器学习的相关关键词构建检索式,在中国知网和Web of Science等平台中检索,根据纳入排除标准,共获取44篇相关文献进行评述。【方法】从机器学习流程出发,构建一般性的可解释机器学习框架,重点梳理可解释机器学习方法分类,然后对可解释机器学习在信息资源管理领域的应用现状进行归纳总结。【结果】一般性的可解释机器学习框架包含事前解释、可解释模型以及事后解释三个不同的模块;事后可解释方法在健康信息学、网络舆情、科学计量学以及社交网络用户行为等领域具有广泛的应用,其中常用的方法为SHAP和特征重要性分析;现有研究存在应用方法单一和融合不足、因果关系探究不够、针对多源异构数据的解释不足以及领域应用有待拓宽等问题。【局限】本文重点关注可解释机器学习的应用及存在的不足,未对算法原理进行深入阐述。【结论】未来研究应加强可解释机器学习方法的融合使用,探究基于因果机器学习的可解释机器学习,引入面向多源异构数据的可解释机器学习方法,拓宽在信息推荐、信息检索和信息计量等多个领域的应用。

Magnetic properties of two soil profiles from Yan'an,Shaanxi Province and their implications for paleorainfall reconstruction

The physical and chemical properties of soils are closely controlled by the climate factors and thus are significant for paleoclimate reconstruction.In this study,two adjacent soil profiles(LP and LPM) with different slopes from Yan'an,Shaanxi Province,were investigated using magnetic methods to determine the impact of topography on magnetic properties of soil.Our results show that although LP and LPM have similar magnetic minerals and grain size distribution,both the average and maximum magnetic susceptibility(x) of LP are almost doubled compared to those of LPM.In addition,the ratios of susceptibility enhancement to the background(Ex) for LP and LPM are 2.27 and 2.04,respectively;the ratios of saturation isothermal remnant magnetization(SIRM) enhancement(ESIRM) for these two profiles are 1.80 and 1.86,respectively.The slopes of the linear regression trends between frequency-dependent susceptibility(χFD) and "hard" isothermal remnant magnetization(HIRM)(χFD/HIRM),Anhysteretic remnant magnetization(ARM) and HIRM(ARM/HIRM),are almost free from the effect of parent material.χFD/HIRMs for LP and LPM are 28.7×10x5 and 28.9×10x5 A mx1,respectively;ARM/HIRMs are 0.35 and 0.33 for LP and LPM,respectively.These results demonstrate that parameters,χFD/HIRM,ARM/HIRM,Ex and ESIRM,are affected less by parent material and topography,which are better than the x for bulk samples to indicate the paleoclimatic conditions(e.g.,the paleorainfall) in a large-scale region.

针对锻件产品多品种、小批量的需求增加和绿色生产的需要，提出一种混线自由锻协同生产的节能调度方法．将锻件温度和运输车辆最大运输质量作为调度的关键约束因素，以最大完工时间和能源消耗最小化为目标，建立虑及锻造温度的混线协同生产多目标节能优化数学模型．结合数学模型通过改编非支配排序遗传算法(NSGA-Ⅱ)，得到模型优化后的生产时间、能耗及运输次数，对比可知混线协同生产节能调度比传统非协同生产调度时间减少约20%，能耗减少约40%，运输次数减少60%，验证了混线协同节能生产调度的有效性．

Modeling the impacts of drying trend scenarios on land systems in northern China using an integrated SD and CA model

Climate-induced drought has exerted obvious impacts on land systems in northern China.Although recent reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) have suggested a high possibility of climate-induced drought in northern China,the potential impacts of such drying trends on land systems are still unclear.Land use models are powerful tools for assessing the impacts of future climate change.In this study,we first developed a land use scenario dynamic model(iLUSD) by integrating system dynamics and cellular automata.Then,we designed three drying trend scenarios(reversed drying trend,gradual drying trend,and acceleration of drying trend) for the next 25 years based on the IPCC emission scenarios and considering regional climatic predictions in northern China.Finally,the impacts of drying trend scenarios on the land system were simulated and compared.An accuracy assessment with historic data covering 2000 to 2005 indicated that the developed model is competent and reliable for understanding complex changes in the land use system.The results showed that water resources varied from 441.64 to 330.71 billion m3 among different drying trend scenarios,suggesting that future drying trends will have a significant influence on water resource and socioeconomic development.Under the pressures of climate change,water scarcity,and socioeconomic development,the ecotone(i.e.,transition zone between cropping area and nomadic area) in northern China will become increasingly vulnerable and hotspots for land-use change.Urban land and grassland would have the most prominent response to the drying trends.Urban land will expand around major metropolitan areas and the conflict between urban and cultivated land will become more severe.The results also show that previous ecological control measures adopted by the government in these areas will play an important role in rehabilitating the environment.In order to achieve a sustainable development in northern China,issues need to be addressed such as how to arrange land use struc

Detection and tracking of clathrin-coated pits in biological images

Dynamically tracking hundreds of individual pits is essential to determine whether there exist "hot spots" for the formation of clathrin-coated pits or if the pits formed randomly on the plasma membrane. We propose an automated approach to detect these particles based on an improved á trous wavelet transform decomposition with automatic threshold selection and post processing solution, and to track the dynamic process with a greedy algorithm. The results indicate that the detection method can successfully detect most particles in an image with accuracy of 98.61% and 97.65% for adaptor and clathrin images, respectively, and that the tracking algorithm can resolve merging and splitting issues encountered when analyzing dynamic, live-cell images of clathrin assemblies.

Spatiotemporal dynamics of electric power consumption in Chinese Mainland from 1995 to 2008 modeled using DMSP/OLS stable nighttime lights data

Electric power consumption （EPC） is one of the basic indices for evaluating electric power use. Obtaining timely and accurate data on the spatiotemporal dynamics of EPC is crucial for understanding and practical deployment of electric power resources. In this study, an EPC model was developed using stable nighttime lights time-series data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program Operational Linescan System （DMSP/OLS）. The model was used to reconstruct the spatial patterns of EPC in Chinese Mainland at the county level from 1995 to 2008. In addition, the spatiotemporal dynamics of EPC were analyzed, and the fol-lowing conclusions were drawn. （1） The EPC model reliably represented the spatiotemporal dynamics of EPC in Chinese Mainland with approximately 70% accuracy. （2） The EPC in most regions of Chinese Mainland was at low to moderate levels, with marked temporal and spatial variations; of high-level EPC, 58.26% was concentrated in eastern China. Six urban agglomerations （Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region, Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou region, Pearl River Delta, Shandong Peninsula, middle-south of Liaoning Province, and Sichuan Basin） accounted for 10.69% of the total area of Chinese Mainland but consumed 39.23% of the electricity. （3） The EPC of most regions in Chinese Mainland increased from 1995 to 2008, and 64% of the mainland area showed a significant increase in EPC. Moderate increases in EPC were found in 61.62% of eastern China and 80.65% of central China from 1995 to 2008, whereas 75.69% of western China showed no significant increase in EPC. Meanwhile, 77.27%, 89.35%, and 66.72% of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou region, Pearl River Delta, and Shandong Peninsula, respectively, showed high-speed increases in EPC. Moderate increases in EPC occurred in 71.12% and 72.13% of the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region and middle-south of Liaoning Province, respectively, while no significant increase occurred in 56.34% of the Sichuan Basin.
