Biomedical metals are widely used as implant materials in the human or animal body to repair organs and restore function, such as heart valves, meninges, peritoneum and artificial *** element affects the microstructure, mechanical property, corrosion resistance and wear resistance, but also influences the antibacterial and biological ***, antibacterial metal alloys have shown great potential as a new kind of biomedical materials, in which Cu has been widely used as antibacterial agent *** addition, biodegradable metal alloys, including magnesium alloy and zinc alloy, also have attracted much attention *** was also used as alloying element to adjust the degradation ***, the role of Cu in the alloy design will be very important for the development of new *** this paper, we summarized the recent research results on the Cu-containing metal alloy for biomedical application and hoped that this review would give more suggestions for the further development of biomedical metal alloy.

Significant progress has been achieved for all-polymer solar cells(APSCs)in the last few years by the use of polymerized small molecular acceptors(PSMAs).Developing high electron mobility polymer acceptors has been considered a feasible solution to further improve the photovoltaic performance of APSCs and fabricate thick film devices,which contributed to roll-to-roll printing *** this work,we designed and synthesized PSV,an A-DA’D-A small molecule acceptor-based PSMA with the vinyl group as a bridged linkage to reduce the steric hindrance between the 1,1-dicyanomethylene-3-indanone(IC)terminal *** comparison with the C-C bond linked polymer acceptor PS,PSV exhibits an almost planar conjugated framework and well-ordered molecular stacking in the thin ***,PSV exhibits superior n-type semiconducting properties with high electron mobility of up to 0.54 cm^(2)·V^(−1)·s^(−1),which is the highest value among reported *** utilizing PM6 as a polymer donor,PSV-based blend forms a favorable nanomorphology and exhibits high and well-balanced hole/electron mobilities,which is beneficial for exciton separation and charge ***,APSCs based on PM6:PSV achieved high power conversion efficiencies of up to 15.73%,with a simultaneously realized high Voc of 0.923 V,Jsc of 23.2 mA·cm^(-2),and FF of *** superior features enable PSV with excellent thickness-insensitive properties and over 13%PCE was obtained at 300 *** the best of our knowledge,the high PCE of 15.73%with excellent electron mobility of 0.54 cm^(2)·V^(−1)·s^(−1)is the highest values reported for *** results point to the great significance of developing polymer acceptors with a high electron mobility for boosting the performance of APSCs.

Transgenic insect-resistant cotton is being increasingly planted in Xinjiang cotton-planting regions, where geographical climate conditions and species composition of pests and natural enemies are greatly unique in China. Limited studies have been conducted on the ecological impacts of transgenic insect-resistant cotton, especially for transgenic double genes （Bt＋CpTI） cotton, in this region. In this study, the potential effects of transgenic Bt＋CpTI cotton on the seasonal abundance of non-target pests and predators were assessed from 2009 to 2011 in Korla, Xinjiang. The results showed that species composition and seasonal abundance of 5 groups of pests and 5 groups of predators were not significantly different between transgenic Bt＋CpTI cotton and non-transgenic cotton every year. It suggests that transgenic Bt＋CpTI cotton per se does not affect the population dynamics of non-target pests and predators on this crop in Xinjiang.

Parameter estimation in exponential models by linear and nonlinear fitting methods

Estimation of unknown parameters in exponential models by linear and nonlinear fitting methods is discussed. Based on the extreme value theorem and Taylor series expansion, it is proved theoretically that the parameters estimated by the linear fitting method alone cannot minimize the sum of the squared residual errors in the measurement data when measurement noise is involved in the data. Numerical simulation is performed to compare the performance of the linear and nonlinear fitting methods. Simulation results show that the linear method can obtain only a suboptimal estimate of the unknown parameters and that the nonlinear method gives more accurate results. Application of the fitting methods is demonstrated where the water spectral attenuation coefficient is estimated from underwater images and imaging distances, which supports the improvement in the accuracy of parameter estimation by the nonlinear fitting method.

A method using HPLC-DAD coupled with second-order calibration was developed to simultaneously determine metronidazole and tinidazole in plasma samples in this paper. The second-order calibration method based on APTLD （alternating penalty trilinear decomposition） algorithm was proposed to analyze the three-way HPLC-DAD data from both standard and prediction samples, which makes it possible that calibration can be performed even in the presence of unknown interferences with a simple and green chromatographic condition and short analysis time. The results showed that good recoveries were obtained although the chromatographic and spectral profiles of the analytes of interest as well as background were partially overlapped with each other in plasma samples.

In this paper, an updated vegetation map of the permafrost zone in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau （QTP） was delineated. The vegetation map model was extracted from vegetation sampling with remote sensing （RS） datasets by decision tree method. The spatial resolution of the map is 1 km×1 kin, and in it the alpine swamp meadow is firstly distinguished in the high-altitude areas. The results showed that the total vegetated area in the permafrost zone of the QTP is 1,201,751 km2. In the vegetated region, 50,260 km2 is the areas of alpine swamp meadow, 583,909 km2 for alpine meadow, 332,754 km2 for alpine steppe, and 234,828 km2 for alpine desert. This updated vegetation map in permafrost zone of QTP could provide more details about the distribution of alpine vegetation types for studying the vegetation mechanisms in the land surface processes of highaltitude areas.

Dementia is increasing dramatically and imposes a huge burden on society. To date, there is a lack of data on the health status of patients with dementia in China. In an attempt to investigate the comorbidity burden of dementia patients in China at the national level, we enrolled 2,938 patients with Alzheimer＇s disease（AD）, vascular dementia（Va D）, or other types of dementia, who were admitted to tertiary hospitals in seven regions of China from January2003 to December 2012. The Charlson Comorbidity Index（CCI） was used to evaluate the comorbidity burden of the patients with dementia. Among these patients, 53.4% had AD, 26.3% had Va D, and 20.3% had other types of dementia. The CCI was 3.0 ± 1.9 for all patients,3.4 ± 1.8 for those with Va D, and 3.0 ± 2.1 for those with AD. The CCI increased with age in all patients, andthe length of hospital stay and daily expenses rose with age and CCI. Males had a higher CCI and a longer stay than females. Moreover, patients admitted in the last 5 years of the study had a higher CCI than those admitted in the first 5 years. We found that the comorbidity burden of patients with dementia is heavy. These findings provide a better understanding of the overall health status of dementia patients, and help to increase the awareness of clinicians and policy-makers to improve medical care for patients.

Background Prostate cancer is one of the most common urogenital tumors in the world with an increasing incidence in China. Androgen deprivation therapy is the major therapeutic option for advanced prostate cancer. However, the role of androgen receptor （AR） in hormone-refractory prostate cancer still remains unclear. This work aimed to investigate the role of AR in an androgen independent prostate cancer cell line by in vitro and in vivo studies. Methods The role of AR in the proliferation and invasion/metastasis ability of PC3-AR9 （a PC3 stable clone expressing human AR driven by natural human AR promoter） were examined with M-IF assay, soft agar assay, chamber invasion assay, wound healing assay, and also with orthotopic xenograft mouse model. Results Restoring androgen receptor in PC3 cells resulted in decreased proliferation and invasion/metastasis ability in MTT, soft agar, chamber invasion and wound healing assay. In the mouse orthotopic xenograft model, PC3-AR9 resulted in smaller primary tumors and metastasis tumors, with a lower proliferation rate and higher apoptosis rate. Conclusion The AR might function as a tumor suppressor in PC3 cells both in vitro and in vivo.
