Cellulose Nanocrystals-mediated Phase Morphology of PLLA/TPU Blends for 3D Printing

Incorporation of nanoparticles into polymer blend to obtain finely dispersed morphology has been considered as an effective strategy to prepare nanocomposites. Owing to the renewable and degradable characters, cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs) have been proposed to tailor the phase morphology of poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) blend for producing high-performance fused deposition modeling(FDM) consumables. However,the main challenge associated with the ternary systems is the dispersion of the highly hydrophilic CNCs in non-polar PLLA blend by industrial melt blending without involving solution. Herein, with poly(vinyl acetate)(PVAc) modified CNCs powder(a mixture of PVAc grafted from CNCs and PVAc homopolymer latex), the selective dispersion of CNCs in PLLA has been achieved by simple melt processing of PLLA/TPU(polyether polyurethane)/CNCs blend. This results in the ultra-fine TPU droplets at nanoscale in PLLA and improves the melt processibility of composites in FDM due to the decreased viscosity ratio of the dispersed/matrix and the enhanced melt elasticity of PLLA. Combined with the intensive shear and continuous stretch effect during FDM, aligned TPU nanofibers(TNFs) were in situ formed along the elongational flow direction during deposition, which in turn contributed to the improvement of PLLA/TPU/CNCs with 5 wt% filler loading in tensile ductility by 418%, inter-layer adhesion strength and notched impact toughness by 261% and 210%, respectively, as well as achieved good dimensional accuracy and very fine surface quality.

Background: Fasting is a simple metabolic strategy that is used to estimate the maintenance energy requirement where the energy supply for basic physiological functions is provided by the mobilization of body ***, the underlying metabolic components of maintenance energy expenditure are not clear. This study investigated the differences in heat production(HP), respiratory quotient(RQ) and plasma metabolites in pigs in the fed and fasted state, using the techniques of indirect calorimetry and ***: Nine barrows(45.2 ± 1.7 kg BW) were fed corn-soybean based meal diets and were kept in metabolism crates for a period of 14 d. After 7 d adaptation, pigs were transferred to respiratory chambers to determine HP and RQ based on indirect calorimetry. Pigs were fed the diet at 2,400 k J ME/(kg BW0.6·d) during d 8 to 12. The last 2 d were divided into 24 h fasting and 48 h fasting treatment, respectively. Plasma samples of each pig were collected from the anterior vena cava during the last 3 d(1 d while pigs were fed and 2 d during which they were fasted).The metabolites of plasma were determined by high-resolution mass spectrometry using a metabolomics ***: Indirect calorimetry analysis revealed that HP and RQ were no significant difference between 24 h fasting and 48 h fasting, which were lower than those of fed state(P < 0.01). The nitrogen concentration of urine tended to decrease with fasting(P = 0.054). Metabolomics analysis between the fed and fasted state revealed differences in15 compounds, most of which were not significantly different between 24 h fasting and 48 h fasting. Dynamic imbibition,which is significantly affected by flow rate,plays an important role in the development of tight *** study investigated the impact of flow rate on dynamic imbibition in fractured tight sandstone cores via online nuclear magnetic resonance core-flooding *** oil expulsion efficiency and capillary number of multiscale pores were quantitatively analyzed to elucidate the influence of flow rate on the oil recovery during dynamic *** pores of the cores used were divided into micropores(0.01-1.00 μm in diameter),mesopores(1.00-30.00 μm in diameter),and macropores(30.00-400.00 μm in diameter) by matching the T_(2)spectrum and the mercury intrusion *** volume proportion of micropores was 52.0%,and that of macropores was 19.0%.The total oil recovery of the core was found to reach 29.8% at the optimal flow rate of 0.1 mL/*** the optimal flow rate,the oil recovery of micropores reached 50.4%,followed by that of macropores(28.6%),and that of mesopores was the lowest(15.8%).The oil expulsion efficiency,the capillary number,and the contribution to total oil recovery of micropores significantly increased with the decrease in flow rate,while those of macropores *** was caused by the synergy of capillary force and displacement *** dynamic imbibition at a low flow rate,the oil in micropores was effectively expelled driven by capillary force,and the effect of displacement pressure was weak,leading to large amounts of remaining oil trapped in *** the contrary,when the flow rate was too high,large amounts of remaining oil would be trapped in *** at a moderate flow rate did the capillary force and displacement pressure both have significant effects on oil expulsion,and the oil in different sized pores was effectively expelled,thus generating a relatively high total oil recovery.

Aim: To establish an in vitro injured motor neuronal model and investigate the neuroprotective effects and possible mechanism of celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, on this model. Methods: After macrophages were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS)+interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in the pre-sence or absence of celecoxib for 24 h, the cell-free supernatant of LPS-stimulated macrophages was transferred to the culture of NSC34 cells. Viability of NSC34 cells was assessed by MTT assay after a further 24 h and 72 h incubation. After macrophages were stimulated by LPS+IFN-γ for 12 h or 24h, the release of pros-taglandin E2(PGE2), nitric oxide (NO), reactive oxygen species (ROS), tumor necro-sis factor α(TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) from macrophages was measured by radioimmunoassay, Griess assay, fluorescence assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. The mRNA levels of COX-2, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), TNF-α and IL-1β in macrophages were determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction after macrophages were stimu-lated for 6 h and 12 h. Results: The supernatant of LPS-stimulated mouse mac-rophages induced the death of NSC34 cells and celecoxib protected the NSC34cells against this toxicity. The LPS-induced increases in the release of PGE2, NO,TNF-α and IL-1β from macrophages were attenuated by pre-treatment with celecoxib. However, celecoxib showed no effect on the ROS levels upregulated by LPS+IFN-γin the macrophage supernatant. The mRNA levels of COX-2, iNOS, TNF-α and IL-1β were increased in LPS-activated macrophages and, except COX-2, reduced by pre-treatment with celecoxib. Conclusion: An in vitro injured motor neuronal model was established by using the toxicity of LPS-stimulated mouse macrophages toward motor neuronal NSC34 cells. In this model, celecoxib exerted neuroprotective effects on motor neurons via an inhibition of the neurotoxic secretions from activated macrophages.

IL-6 plays important and pleiotropic roles in infection and inflammatory diseases,and its production needs to be tightly ***,the epigenetic mechanism underlying Il6 gene transcription remains to be fully ***,we report that lysine-specific demethylase 2b(KDM2B),which demethylates H3K4me3 and H3K36me2,is required in macrophages and dendritic cells for the induction of IL-6 but not TNF-α,IL-1,and IFN-β.Compared to wild-type mice,KDM2B-deficient mice were more resistant to endotoxin shock and colitis,with a less severe inflammatory pathogenesis phenotype and decreased IL-6 production in ***2B selectively bound the Il6 promoter but did not alter histone demethylation;instead,KDM2B interacted with Brahma-related gene 1(Brg1),the core ATPase subunit of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes,to facilitate chromatin accessibility of the Il6 ***,KDM2B directly recruited RNA Polymerase II to further initiate and promote Il6 ***,our finding identifies a novel nonclassical function of KDM2B in gene-specific transcription initiation and enhancement of Il6 independent of its demethylase activity and adds new insight into the specific epigenetic modification mechanism of inflammatory immune responses.

BaTiO_(3)(BT)has attracted extensive attention among advanced lead-free ferroelectric materials due to its unique dielectric and ferroelectric ***,the enormous remanent polarization and coercive field severely impede the improvement of its energy storage ***,the BaTiO_(3)e-Bi(Zn_(0.5)Hf_(0.5))O_(3)(BT-BZH)ceramics with high breakdown field strength and remarkable relaxation characteristics can be obtained by introducing the composite component BZH in BT to regulate the phase structure and grain size of the *** findings demonstrate that the improvement of energy storage performance is related to the increase of relaxation behavior.A large energy storage density(Wrec~3.62 J/cm^(3))along with superior energy storage efficiency(h~88.5%)is achieved in 0.88BT-0.12BZH relaxor ceramics only at 240 kV/*** addition,the sample suggests superior thermal stability and frequency stability within 25e115℃and 1e500 Hz,***,the outstanding chargedischarge properties with an ultrafast discharge time(100 ns),large discharged energy density(1.2 J/cm^(3)),impressive current density(519.4 A/cm^(2))and power density(31.1 MW/cm^(3))under the electric field of 120 kV/cm are achieved in studied *** excellent energy storage performance of BT-BZH ceramics provides a promising platform for the application of lead-free energy-storage materials.
