A seven-step total synthesis of(+)-cylindricine D and epi-cylindricine D is described.The efficiency relies on the highly diastereoselective reductive bis-functionalization of N,O-protected(S)-pyroglutaminol by our recently improved protocol to build the N-α-tert-alkylamine motif,and a telescoped one-step fourreaction protocol to build the fused bicyclic ring system.(+)-Cylindricine C and its 2-epimer were synthesized by essentially the same sequence in eight steps.Acetylation of the latter then delivered(+)-cylindricine E and its 2-epimer,respectively.

Objective:This article discusses the following aspects,including the history of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in the treatment of lung cancer,the breakthrough in the theory of TCM in treatment of lung cancer,clinical study of TCM in treating lung cancer,microscientific interpretation of TCM treatment for lung cancer and the prospect of TCM in treating lung cancer.Materials and Methods:In this paper,through a systematic search,combing traditional Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of lung cancer ancient books and modern literature.Results:A series of large sample and multi-centered clinical studies have proved that TCM comprehensive treatment significantly improves the clinical efficacy for lung cancer.“TCM treatment system for non-small cell lung cancer”based on staged and standardized integration of TCM and Western medicine has been well developed and popularized in practice.Furthermore,in virtue of the international cooperation platform established by the National Cancer Institute of the United States,the scientific connotation of TCM in the prevention and treatment of lung cancer is systematically and deeply studied,thereby promoting the research and development of new Chinese drugs for lung cancer.Conclusions:Nowadays,TCM has realized a landmark breakthrough in treating lung cancer,bringing benefits to all lung cancer patients.

To the Editor:Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidant,which is commonly used as a disinfectant mainly in medical and chemical workplaces.Hydrogen peroxide poisoning causes brain infarction,and ingestion of hydrogen peroxide injures the upper gastrointestinal tract.[1]Besides,food poisoning is often caused due to hydrogen peroxide.A case has been reported in China that cerebral embolism was caused by oral hydrogen peroxide poisoning.[2]The first two cases of hydrogen peroxide poisoning caused by sterilization and disinfection in China are illustrated in this article.

Objective To investigate the baseline levels of microorganisms’growth on the hands of anesthesiologists and in the anesthesia environment at a cancer hospital.Methods This study performed in nine operating rooms and among 25 anesthesiologists at a cancer hospital.Sampling of the hands of anesthesiologists and the anesthesia environment was performed at a ready-to-use operating room before patient contact began and after decontamination.Results Microorganisms’growth results showed that 20%(5/25)of anesthesiologists’hands carried microorganisms(>10 CFU/cm^(2))before patient contact began.Female anesthesiologists performed hand hygiene better than did their male counterparts,with fewer CFUs(P=0.0069)and fewer species(P=0.0202).Our study also found that 55.6%(5/9)of ready-to-use operating rooms carried microorganisms(>5 CFU/cm^(2)).Microorganisms regrowth began quickly(1 hour)after disinfection,and increased gradually over time,reaching the threshold at 4 hours after disinfection.Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from the hands of 20%(5/25)of anesthesiologists and 33.3%(3/9)of operating rooms.Conclusion Our study indicates that male anesthesiologists need to pay more attention to the standard operating procedures and effect evaluation of hand hygiene,daily cleaning rate of the operating room may be insufficient,and we would suggest that there should be a repeat cleaning every four hours.

S-phase kinase-associated protein 2(Skp2)is a well-characterized oncoprotein localized mainly in the nucleus and cytoplasm.It is an integral component of SCFskp2 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex which confers substrate selectivity to the ligase by specifically targeting a distinct set of proteins destined for proteasomal degradation such as p21,p27,cyclin E,and c-Myc.1 Skp2 is crucial in a multitude of cellular processes including cell cycle,cell proliferation,apoptosis,differentiation,and survival.However,despite its immense and well-established role in ubiquitin-proteasome system-mediated protein turnover,much is unknown about the function of Skp2 independent of the ubiquitination pathway.Previously,Skp2 has been reported to regulate RhoA gene transcription and the p300 signaling pathway in an E3 ligase-independent manner.2Moreover,Skp2 also acts as a cofactor for c-Myc-regulated gene expression.

Experiment and simulation of slurry flow in irregular channels to understand proppant transport in complex fractures

Slurry flow and proppant placement in irregular fractures are crucial to evaluate hydraulic fracturing stimulation but need to be better understood.This study aims to investigate how irregular fracture affects proppant transport and distribution using laboratory experiments and micro-scale numerical models.The unresolved method of the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and the discrete element method(DEM)considers Saffman lift force,Magnus force,and virtual mass force to accurately capture the frequent interaction between proppant and slickwater.Experimental results validated the reliability of the optimized CFD-DEM model and calibrated primary parameters.The effects of crack height and width,bending angle,and distance between the crack and inlet on particle distribution were studied.The results indicated that the improved numerical method could rationally simulate proppant transport in fractures at a scale factor.The small crack height causes downward and upward flows,which wash proppant to the fracture rear and form isolated proppant dunes.A wider region in the fracture is beneficial to build up a large dune,and the high dune can hinder particle transport into the fracture rear.When the crack is close to the inlet,the primary fracture without proppants will close to hinder gas production.The smaller the bending angle,the smaller the proppant dune.A regression model can precisely predict the dune coverage ratio.The results fundamentally understand how complex fractures and natural cracks affect slurry flow and proppant distribution.

Damaged neurons and harsh microenvironments contribute to the injury cascades following traumatic brain injury(TBI).Mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)therapy is considered a viable choice for brain in-jury treatment;however,its clinical use is hindered by limited engraftment,low survival ratio,and uncontrolled differentiation.Herein,the decellularized brain extracellular matrix(dBECM)was prepared through a new method as a delivery system for MSCs.dBECM-based hydrogel with favorable biochem-ical and biomechanical features provides a microenvironment for MSCs in nerve repair.The MSCs-encapsulated dBECM-based hydrogel is shown to improve neuron compensation and structural regen-eration,alleviate neuroinflammation,and promote M1-to-M2 polarization of microglia.Our results first demonstrate that the combination of dBECM and MSCs is a critical vehicle to promote TBI repair from neurogenesis and immunoregulation,showing promise for the physiological recovery of neurogenic dis-eases and injuries.

This paper studies the trading behavior of an irrational insider and its influence on the market equilibrium in the presence of market regulation.We find that the market with only one insider with private information is almost close to a strong efficient market,under the condition of market regulation.In the equilibrium,the probability of the insider being caught trading with private information is zero,which shows that the reasonable behavior of the regulator is to essentially give up regulation.But the market efficiency and the irrational trader’s trading intensity all greatly improve because of the existence of the market regulation.
