Generating sufficient strains on metal surfaces are highly challenging owing to that most metals can deform plastically to relax the strains on the surfaces.In this work,we developed a facile but highly efficient stacked deposition strategy to in situ activation and reconstruction of NiO/NiOOH on Ni matrix,following with the migration of Fe ions to NiOOH.The Fe sites on the Ni/NiO/NiOOH facilitate the formation of the stable*OH oxygenated intermediates,and the Ni matrix in the catalyst provides the catalyst excellent stability.The oxygen evolution reaction(OER)performance of the stacked NiFe-5 with compressive strain displays the strengthened binding to oxygenated intermediates and superior OER activity,the ultralow overpotentials of 162 versus reversible hydrogen electrode at 10 mA cm^(-2).On the other hand,the Ni-5 without the incorporation of Fe has shown an outstanding hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)activity,affording an overpotential of 47 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2).The NiFe-5‖Ni-5 enables the overall water splitting at a voltage of 1.508 V to achieve 20 mA cm^(-2) with remarkable durability.The stacked deposition strategy improves binding strength of Ni-based catalysts to oxygenated intermediates via generating compressive strain,causing high catalytic activities on OER and HER.

Flexible piezoelectrics realise the conversion between mechanical movements and electrical power by conformally attaching onto curvilinear surfaces,which are promising for energy harvesting of biomedical devices due to their sustainable body movements and/or deformations.Developing secondary functions of flexible piezoelectric energy harvesters is becoming increasingly significant in recent years via aiming at issues that cannot be addressed or mitigated by merely increasing piezoelectric efficiencies.These issues include loose interfacial contact and pucker generation by stretching,power shortage or instability induced by inadequate mechanical energy,and premature function degeneration or failure caused by fatigue fracture after cyclic deformations.Herein,the expedient secondary functions of flexible piezoelectrics to mitigate above issues are reviewed,including stretchability,hybrid energy harvesting,and self-healing.Efforts have been devoted to understanding the state-of-the-art strategies and their mechanisms of achieving secondary functions based on piezoelectric fundamentals.The link between structural characteristic and function performance is unravelled by providing insights into carefully selected progresses.The remaining challenges of developing secondary functions are proposed in the end with corresponding outlooks.The current work hopes to help and inspire future research in this promising field focusing on developing the secondary functions of flexible piezoelectric energy harvesters.

Mechanochemical reaction involves simultaneous chemical reaction and particle crushing;the latter increases the effective reaction area and improves the reactivity,thus enhancing its kinetics.The classical shrinking core model was used to model the kinetics of bastnaesite mechanochemical decomposition in NaOH solution,which shows a questionable result.Mechanochemical reaction is a dynamic process,where the particle shape and concentration in reaction interface undergo constant change.Thus,a physically consistent model was applied to describe the kinetics.The variations in OH^-concentration and particle shape were considered in the revision of model.Considering the variation in OH^-concentration in solution with time,the model with varying OH^-concentration agrees better with the experimental data,improving the regression coefficients to between 0.936 and 0.992.By introducing fractal geometry to deal with the irregular system,the model was further optimized,and the regression coefficients increase to between 0.940 and 0.997.All these models considere shrinking particle approaches and controlling mechanisms for the diffusion and chemical reaction.Finally,the fractal model with varying OH^-concentration was selected to describe the mechanochemical decomposition of bastnaesite,which indicates that the process is controlled by chemical reaction.

Background Pulmonary hemorrhage (PH) is a life-threatening respiratory complication of extremely low-birth-weight infants (ELBWIs).However,the risk factors for PH are controversial.Therefore,the purpose of this study was to analyze the perinatal risk factors and short-term outcomes of PH in ELBWIs.Methods This was a retrospective cohort study of live born infants who had birth weights that were less than 1000 g,lived for at least 12 hours,and did not have major congenital anomalies.A logistic regression model was established to analyze the risk factors associated with PH.Results There were 168 ELBWIs born during this period.A total of 160 infants were included,and 30 infants were diagnosed with PH.Risk factors including gestational age,small for gestational age,intubation in the delivery room,surfactant in the delivery room,repeated use of surfactant,higher FiO2 during the first day,invasive ventilation during the first day and early onset sepsis (EOS) were associated with the occurrence of PH by univariate analysis.In the logistic regression model,EOS was found to be an independent risk factor for PH.The mortality and intraventricular hemorrhage rate of the group of ELBWIs with PH were significantly higher than those of the group of ELBWIs without PH.The rates of periventricular leukomalacia,moderate-to-severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia and severe retinopathy of prematurity,and the duration of the hospital stay were not significantly different between the PH and no-PH groups.Conclusions Although PH did not extend hospital stay or increase the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia,it increased the mortality and intraventricular hemorrhage rate in ELBWIs.EOS was the independent risk factor for PH in ELBWIs.

No consistent variation was found in soil respiration Q10 under various O2 conditions.Substrate C quality had a strong effect on Q10 in oxic soils.N limitation had a large impact on Q10 in soils under O2 limitation.Current studies on the temperature sensitivity(Q10)of soil organic matter(SOM)decomposition mainly focus on aerobic conditions.However,varia-tions and determinants of Q10 in oxygen(O2)-deprived soils remain unclear.Here we incubated three grassland soils under oxic,suboxic,and anoxic conditions subjected to varying temperatures to compare variations in Q10 in relation to changing substrates.No consistent variation was found in Q10 under various O2 conditions.Further analysis of edaphic properties demon-strated that substrate carbon quality showed a strong influence on Q10 in oxic soils,whereas nitrogen limitation played a more important role in suboxic and anoxic soils.These results suggest that substrate carbon quality and nitrogen limitation may play roles of varying importance in determining the temperature sensitivity of SOM decomposition under various O2 conditions.

Ionizable lipid nanocarriers have made historical contribution to COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.Here,we report ionizable polymeric nanoparticles that co-deliver bi-adjuvant and neoantigen peptides for cancer immunotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade(ICB).Current cancer ICB benefits only a small subset of patients,largely due to a lack of pre-existing target cells and checkpoint targets for ICB,tumor antigenic heterogeneity,and tumor immunosuppression.Therapeutic vaccines hold the potential to enhance ICB therapeutic efficacy by expanding antitumor cell repertoires,upregulating immune checkpoint levels and hence sensitizing ICB,and reducing tumor immunosuppression.Chemically defined peptide vaccines are attractive,but their current therapeutic efficacy has been limited due to 1)poor vaccine delivery to immunomodulatory lymph nodes(LNs)and antigen(Ag)-presenting cells(APCs),2)poor immunostimulant adjuvant efficacy with restricted target cell subsets in humans,3)limited adjuvant/Ag codelivery to enhance Ag immunogenicity,and 4)limited ability to overcome tumor antigenic heterogeneity.Here,we developed nanovaccines(NVs)using pH-responsive polymeric micellular nanoparticles(NPs)for the codelivery of bi-adjuvant[Toll-like receptor(TLR)7/8 agonist R848 and TLR9 agonist CpG]and peptide neoantigens(neoAgs)to draining LNs for efficient Ag presentation in a broad range of APC subsets.These NVs potentiated the immunogenicity of peptide Ags and elicits robust antitumor T cell responses with memory,and remodeled the tumor immune milium with reduced tumor immunosuppression.As a result,NVs significantly enhanced ICB therapeutic efficacy for murine colorectal tumors and orthotopic glioblastoma multiforme(GBM).These results suggest marked potential of bi-adjuvant/neoAg-codelivering NVs for combination cancer immunotherapy.

Accurate time synchronization of power reference station based on BD3 system

A Beidou 3(BD3)system-based power reference station can provide high-precision time synchronization for power distribution systems by sending synchronization data packets to devices in a multi-hop routing fashion.However,optimizing route selection to reduce both time synchronization error and delay is a challenging problem.In this paper,we establish a software-defined network-enabled power reference station time synchronization framework based on BD3.Then,we formulate the joint problem to minimize cumulative synchronization error and delay through multi-hop route selection optimization.A back propagation(BP)neural network-improved intelligent time synchronization route selection algorithm named BP-RS is proposed to learn the optimal route selection,which uses a BP neural network to dynamically adjust the exploration factor to achieve rapid convergence.Simulation results show the superior performance of BP-RS in synchronization delay,synchronization error,and adaptability with changing routing topologies.
