High-temperature superconducting(HTS)rare-earth Ba_(2)Cu_(3)O_(7-x)(REBCO)coated conductors(CCs)have significant potential in high-current and high-field ***,owing to the weak interface strength of the laminated composite REBCO CCs,the damage induced by the thermal mismatch stress under a combination of epoxy impregnation,cooling,and quenching can cause premature degradation of the critical *** this study,a three-dimensional(3D)electromagnetic-thermal-mechanical model based on the H-formulation and cohesive zone model(CZM)is developed to study the critical current degradation characteristics in an epoxy-impregnated REBCO CC caused by the damage during a *** temperature variation,critical current degradation of the REBCO CC,and its degradation onset temperature calculated by the numerical model are in agreement with the experimental data taken from the *** delamination of the REBCO CC predicted by the numerical model is consistent with the experimental *** numerical results also indicate that the shear stress is the main contributor to the damage propagation inside the REBCO *** premature degradation of the critical current during a quench is closely related to the interface shear strength inside the REBCO ***,the effects of the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)of the epoxy resin,thickness of the substrate,and substrate material on the critical current degradation characteristics of the epoxy-impregnated REBCO CC during a quench are also *** results help us understand the relationship between the current-carrying degradation and damage in the HTS applications.

Ramping loss and mechanical response in a no-insulation high-temperature superconducting layer-wound coil and intra-layers no-insulation coil

The layer-wound coil has a great potential in nuclear magnetic resonance and magnetic resonance imaging owing to the better spatial homogeneity of the magnetic ***,high-temperature superconducting(HTS)coil wound by no-insulation(NI)layer-wound technique has been verified with a long field delay time.A new method named the intra-layer no-insulation(LNI)winding technique has been proposed to reduce the charging delay time of the *** paper is mainly to study and compare the ramping loss and mechanical characteristics of the layer-wound coil and LNI *** results indicate that the total ramping loss can be significantly reduced by using the LNI winding *** effects of the ramping rate of power supply current and the contact resistivity on the ramping loss are also discussed in the ***,the stress distributions in the layer-wound coil and LNI coil are compared,where the cooling process and Lorentz force are both *** can be found that the copper sheet of the LNI coil experiences relatively higher stress than its(RE)Ba;Cu;O;(REBCO)conductor ***,the magnitude of stress generated in the REBCO conductor of the LNI coil is slightly different from that of the layer-wound coil.

Mechanical Response of Conductor on Round Core(CORC)Cables Under Electromagnetic Force

The conductor on round core(CORC)cables are fabricated with multilayer high-temperature superconductor tapes,which are helically wound around a circular central *** large Lorentz force will be generated by the transport current in CORC cables under high magnetic field,which will affect the stress and strain distributions of tapes in the cables and the performance of superconducting *** paper establishes a two-dimensional axisymmetric model to analyze the mechanical response of CORC cables subjected to the Lorentz force and analyzes the influence of air gaps on stress and strain distributions inside the *** T-A method is used to calculate the distributions of current density,magnetic field and the Lorentz force in CORC *** mechanical response of CORC cables is analyzed by applying the Lorentz force as an external load in the mechanical *** direction of electromagnetic force is analyzed in CORC cables with and without shielding current,and the results show that the shielding current can lead to the concentration of electromagnetic *** maximum stress and strain occur on both sides of the superconducting tapes in the cables with shielding *** the size of air gaps can reduce the stress and strain in the superconducting *** analysis of mechanical response of CORC cables can play an important role in optimizing the design of CORC cables and improving transmission performance.

Mechanical Analysis of a No-insulation Pancake Coil with the Overband During a Quench

The no-insulation(NI)winding approach can remarkably improve the thermal stability of high-temperature superconducting ***,mechanical issues have gradually become a key factor to block the development of NI magnets in recent *** paper mainly analyzes the effect of the overband on the mechanical behaviors of an NI coil during a quench.A numerical model including a quench model combined with a three-dimensional homogeneous mechanical model is employed to study the change of stress in the coil without and with the over band during a local *** results show that the overband has an obvious effect on the stress distribution as the heater is located at the outer turn of the ***,the values of stress in the coil are also affected by the ***,the effects of the thickness of the overband and the location of the heater on the mechanical behaviors of the coil are also *** is worth noting that the overband can remarkably reduce the hoop and axial tensile stresses of the coil during a quench。

Magnetic reduction of gas back-mixing in bubbling fluidized beds with Geldart-B magnetizable particles

This study investigated the performance of magnetic fields in reducing gas back-mixing in bubbling fluidized beds with Geldart-B magnetizable *** Peclet number(Pe)and axial dispersion coefficient(Da,g)were determined using the one-dimensional dispersion model.A weak magnetic field reduced gas back-mixing to a certain extent,while a moderate field resulted in minimal *** performance of a strong magnetic field varied significantly depending on the operation *** the magnetization-FIRST operation mode,gas back-mixing was significantly *** corresponding Pe and Da,g were calculated as∼76 and∼3.6×10^(−4) m^(2)/s,indicating that the gas flow approached the ideal plug-flow ***,when the magnetization-LAST operation mode was used,the strong magnetic field failed to mitigate gas ***,the performance of magnetic fields in reducing gas back-mixing depended not only on their intensity but also on their application sequence to the gas flow field.

Fabrication of SmCo_(5) alloy via cobalt-induced calciothermic reduction and magnetic properties of its ribbon

SmCo_(5)alloy was prepared via direct calciothermic reduction using anhydrous samarium fluoride(SmF_(3))as raw material and cobalt as *** of the thermodynamic calculation show that the direct reduction of cobalt-induced SmF_(3)for preparing SmCo_(5)alloy is *** alloy with 33.89 wt%samarium and a yield of 96.45%were achieved under the optimal conditions of 10%and 20%excess of SmF_(3)and calcium over the stoichiometry,respectively,and 1450℃for 4 *** X-ray diffraction results show that the reduction products are SmCo_(5)alloy and CaF_(2).The scanning electron microscopy micrograph of the SmCo_(5)alloy ingot exhibits a distinct dendritic morphology composed of samarium and *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that the atomic ratio of samarium to cobalt is approximately 1:5 and both elements demonstrate zero valency(Sm^(0),Co^(0)).The magnetic properties measurement of the SmCo_(5)alloy melt-spun ribbon shows the remanent magnetization B_r=0.59 T,intrinsic coercivity H_(Ci)=345.82 kA/m and maximum magnetic energy density(BH)_(max)=42.20 kJ/m^(3).These results may be helpful for the development of novel valence-variable rare-earth alloys.

Form Gene Clustering Method about Pan-Ethnic-Group Products Based on Emotional Semantic

The use of pan-ethnic-group products form knowledge primarily depends on a designer＇s subjective experience without user participation. The majority of studies primarily focus on the detection of the perceptual demands of consumers from the target product category. A pan-ethnic-group products form gene clustering method based on emotional semantic is constructed. Consumers＇ perceptual images of the pan-ethnic-group products are obtained by means of product form gene extraction and coding and computer aided product form clustering technology. A case of form gene clustering about the typical pan-ethnic-group products is investigated which indicates that the method is feasible. This paper opens up a new direction for the future development of product form design which improves the agility of product design process in the era of Industry 4.0.

Electromagnetic-thermal-mechanical characteristics with active feedback control in a high-temperature superconducting noinsulation magnet

High-temperature superconducting(HTS) magnets consisting of no-insulation(NI) double-pancake coils(DPCs) with high thermal stability have been proposed for use in the preparation of high-field magnets. However, increased ramp time is a known disadvantage of the NI approach. To solve this problem, a proportional and integral(PI) active feedback control has been proposed in the charging experiments of the NI magnet. In this study, the electromagnetic-thermal-mechanical characteristics of an NI magnet with and without PI are analyzed to ensure the safety and reliability of PI control. Due to the increase in the radial current of the magnet, the turn-to-turn loss energy of the magnet with PI is more than twice that without PI. However, the magnetization loss energy of the magnet has a small difference with and without PI. It can be also found that the NI magnet with PI has a large temperature rise, and thus it has a low thermal stability margin. Moreover, in the high field, the hoop stress and hoop strain peaks of a magnet with PI are larger than those without PI. Thus, PI control can induce a relatively high risk of mechanical damage in the applications of NI magnets.

Influences of polymorphism of packed particles on bulk characterizations in fluidization realm

The characterization of a particle ensemble(rather than a single particle) is of paramount significance to various particle technologies and has long been a fundamental subject in the fluidization realm. However, many of such bulk characterizations as loosely-packed density(ρbl), minimum fluidization velocity(Umf), sphericity(φ), discharge rate through orifice(q), angle of repose(β), and segregation index(S),were found to be poorly reproducible, making the reported results seldom comparable. Since these bulk characterizations started from the packed state of particles, such poor reproducibility was ascribed to the polymorphism of packed particles in this work. We observed that in the fluidized bed, the settled/packed state of particles varied monotonously with the settling rate(a) from complete fluidization to zero. This phenomenon confirmed the polymorphic characteristic of packed particles and further enabled us to systematically disclose/clarify its influences on the aforementioned bulk characterizations. Such influences could be comprehensively and intuitively reflected by the impacts induced by a. With the decrease of a, ρbl, φ and q first increased, then decreased, and finally leveled off while Umfand β showed an opposite trend. On the other hand, S first increased and then remained invariant. As per these findings and definitions of these bulk characterizations, benchmarks were indicated to unify the selection of settled state among future scholars and further make their outcomes become fairly comparable. Additionally, most packed states of the particle ensemble were proved to be metastable with their formation and behavior being identical to those of the amorphous state.
