Basical characteristics of fluid geologic process of interlayer oxidation zone sandstone-typeuranium deposit

This paper reveals the physicochemical properties such as component, formulation, genesis, tem- perature, pH, Eh, salinity and pressure of all main alteration fluid of interlayer oxidation zone sand- stone-type uranium deposits after studying the geologic process and geochemistry of internal typical sandstone-type uranium deposits such as Shihongtan deposit in the Turpan-Hami basin, 512 deposit in the Yili basin, Dongsheng deposit in the Ordos basin. The composition of fluid can be divided into two parts based on the analysis of inclusion: one can be affirmed as atmospheric water with ordinary temperature epigenesist according to the character of hydrogen and oxygen isotope of inclusion, the other is natural gas containing gaseous hydrocarbon like CH4, and CO2 as well as a little H2S, CO, H2, N2 and so on, it always contains a small quantity of hydrocarbon liquid in petroliferous basins. The fluid property of oxidation alteration zone is always oxidation alkaline, and neutrality or weak acid-weak alkaline and reducibility during the metallizing process, but at secondary reduction or deoxidization zone it becomes strong reduction alkaline. Oxygenic groundwater in the fluid is the activate and mig- ratory medium of uranium element, but the gaseous hydrocarbon like CH4 as well as H2, H2S, CO from natural gas is the important sedimentary reducer of uranium mineral; the transformation of pH,Eh in fluid environment is the main reason for the formation of uranium metallization.

Radiogenesis of Low Maturity Natural Gas in the Turpan-Hami Basin,NW China

The origin of the Jurassic low maturity natural gas in the Turpan-Hami Basin has attracted scientists’attention for some time,and it is known that radiogenesis may have played a ***,little has been done on the uranium-rich background of the whole *** on plentiful logging and geological data for the Jurassic strata in the Turpan-Hami Basin,this research examined the features and factors controlling the distribution of rocks with high gamma *** results show that 70%-100%of the rocks with high gamma readings correspond to mudstones in the prodelta subfacies rather than those in semideep-deep lacustrine subfacies rich in ***,we propose that the distribution of rocks with high gamma readings is mainly controlled by sedimentary facies rather than by *** analysis of the gamma spectrometry logging data shows that high gamma values are more strongly correlated with U content than with Th or K *** comparing the U and Th contents of felsic rocks in peripheral provenances,we find that the Jueluotage Mountain and Harlik Mountain were the dominant uranium sources for the Jurassic Turpan-Hami *** due to high-level uranium in the prodelta subfacies can make the low maturity source rocks generate H2 and CH4,thus contributing to the production of low maturity natural gas in the Turpan-Hami Basin.

Discovery of Kilometer-Scale Uplift and Exhumation Related to the Late Indosinian Movement in the Northern Ordos Basin, North China

The tectonic response of the Ordos Basin to Indosinian movement mainly occurred in the southwestern part of the basin due to the Late Triassic collisional Qinling orogeny to the *** orogeny resulted in intense uplift and exhumation of the southwestern section of the Ordos Basin,where the upper and middle parts of the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation were exhumated and the magnitude of exhumation progressively decreased to the northeast(liu chiyang et al.,2008).However,little attention has been paid to the influence of Indosinian movement to the northern Ordos *** this study,stratigraphic observations and new apatite fission track(AFT)data are integrated to characterize the effect of Indosinian movement in the northern Ordos Basin.

Radioactive Genesis of Hydrogen Gas under Geological Conditions: an Experimental Study

The coexistence of hydrogen-containing materials and radioactive substances in source rocks is *** documents have researched whether the latter can radiate the former to generate hydrogen gas(H2)as well as the factors controlling this *** work conducted a series of radiation experiments to address this *** were placed in sealed Pyrex glass containers and subject to cobalt(60 Co)γirradiation and components and contents of resultant gases were analyzed using *** results show that all the samples released variable amounts of H2 after irradiation and that the yield(H2)of decane is lower than that of 3-tetradecylthiophene but higher than that of distilled water,which implies that a weaker H-X bond energy(X indicates O,C or other element)in homogeneous materials corresponds with increased yield(H2).The yields(H2)of samples decreased with the decreasing solutions concentrations in sequence from mixed salts solution,KCl solution,Yellow Sea water,oil field water,gypsum solution to distilled *** experimental results also show that the yield(H2)of distilled water with montmorillonite is higher than that of distilled water with kaolinite,because due to the larger specific surface area,ion exchange capacity and more effective energy transfer effect of ***,the irradiation of oxygen-and carbon-containing materials also releases O2 and *** production of H2 via the irradiation of hydrogen-containing materials makes the involvement of exogenous H2 into hydrocarbon generation possible,which can enhance the hydrocarbon volume and optimize crude oil.

The Chang 7 member of the upper Triassic in the southwest Ordos Basin:Carbon isotope studay of dispersed organic matter and its paleoclimate significance

The carbon isotope δ 13C value of dispersed organic matter in the Upper Triassic sediments in the Ordos basin is （-24.5 to -26.6） ×10^-3 with the carbon being derived from C3-1ike pleustons. The paleoclimate of the Late Triassic, especially during the deposition of the Chang 7 member, was characterized by a hot and humid climate. It underwent four small climate cycles from humid and warm to humid and hot.

Sequence framework of two different kinds of margins and their response to tectonic activity during the Middle-Late Triassic,Ordos Basin

Two kinds of margin respectively occur in the Ordos Basin during the Middle-Late Triassic(Yanchang Age),one is foreland margin developed under the background of flexural subsidence by thrusting intensively in the southwest margin,and the other is intracratonic basin margin by stable subsidence in northern and central parts of the *** Middle-Late Triassic Yanchang Formation can be divided into four regional third-order sequences,which are separated by gentle angular unconformity or regional erosion surface,made up of lowstand system tract(LST),expanding system tract(EST)and highstand system tract(HST)from lower to upper within a *** there are distinct differences of the sequence framework between the southwest margin and northern and central parts of the *** southwest margin develops heavy conglomerate layer and unconformity as a result of orogeny by thrusting,and the intracratonic basin margin by stable subsidence in the northern and central parts grows aggradational sandstone,conglomerate in fluvio-delta system and parallel *** depositional framework of southwest margin reflects the tectonic evolution from flexural subsidence by thrusting to rebounded *** formation of sequence boundary is related to the resilient uplift and *** sequence stratigraphic framework and depositional system tract configuration in the foreland basin are controlled by structural activity of the fold and thrust belt,and the sequence succession reflects episodic thrusting of the Middle-Late Triassic toward the foreland *** sequence evolution in northern and central parts reflects the depositional succession of fluvio-delta system under intracratonic background,composed of coarse-grained sediment in braided channel deposit at the lower,meandering channel deposit in the middle and fine-grained sediment in the flood plain at the upper,dominated by lake level *** the deposit of the LST in the intracraton basin,accommodation spa

Geochemistry,geochronology and Hf isotope of granitoids in the northern Alxa region:Implications for the Late Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt

The tectonic setting of the northern Alxa region during the Late Paleozoic is highly *** key to resolve this controversy is to recognize the Late Paleozoic magmatic processes in the northern *** this paper,we present new zircon U-Pb ages,Hf-isotopic compositions and whole-rock geochemical data of four granitoids along the Zhusileng-Hangwula Tectonic Belt in the northern Alxa region that could provide critical information about the tectonic evolution of this *** zircon U-Pb data could be grouped as two phases:Late Devonian granite and diorite(ca.373-360 Ma),and Late Carboniferous granodiorite(ca.318 Ma).The Late Devonian granites and diorites are metaluminous to slightly peraluminous,with A/CNK and A/NK ratios of 0.90-1.11 and0.95-2.19,*** Late Devonian diorites are characterized by high MgO,Cr and Ni contents and MgO#values,together with variableεHf(t)values from-1.0 to+1.3 and old TDM2 ages varied from 1283 Ma to 1426 Ma,indicating the primary magma was potentially derived from magma mixing of depleted mantle with Mesoproterozoic continental *** though the Late Devonian granites yielded most positive and minor negative eHf(t)values between-1.1 to+5.7(three grains are negative)with two-stage model ages(TDM2)of 1003-1438 Ma,they display low MgO,Cr and Ni contents and MgO#values,suggesting that they were mainly derived from juvenile crustal materials,mixed with a small amount of ancient *** Late Carboniferous granitoids are metaluminous and medium-K calc-alkaline series,with A/CNK and A/NK ratios ranging from 0.88 to 0.95 and1.75 to 1.90,*** rocks were potentially derived from juvenile crustal materials mixed with depleted mantle,as evidenced by their highεHf(t)values(+11.6 to+14.1)and young TDM2 ages(427 Ma to 586 Ma),as well as high Mg#values,and MgO,Ni and Cr *** data,along with available sedimentary evidence and previous researches,indicate that the Late Devonian and Late Carboniferous rock

Geochemical characteristics of Dongsheng sandstone-type uranium deposit, Ordos Basin

Generally, sandstone-type uranium deposits can be divided into three zones according to their redox conditions: oxidized zone, ore zone and reduced zone. The Dongsheng uranium deposit belongs to this type. In order to study its geochemical characteristics, 11 samples were taken from the three zones of the Dongsheng uranium deposit. Five samples of them were collected from the oxidized zone, four samples from the ore zone and two samples from the reduced zone. These samples were analyzed using organic and inorganic geochemical methods. The results of GC traces and ICP-MASS indicate that the three zones show different organic and inorganic geochemical characteristics.

Petrography and Geochemistry of the Upper Triassic Sandstones from the Western Ordos Basin, NW China: Provenance and Tectonic Implications

Petrographic and geochemical characteristics of the Upper Triassic sandstones in the western Ordos Basin were studied to provide insight into weathering characteristics,provenance,and tectonic *** features show that the sandstones are characterized by low-medium compositional maturity and textural *** CIA and CIW values reveal weak and moderate weathering history in the source *** geochemical characteristics together with palaeocurrent data show that the northwestern sediments were mainly derived from the Alxa Block with a typical recycled nature,while the provenance of the western and southwestern sediments were mainly from the Qinling-Qilian Orogenic *** tectonic setting discrimination diagrams signify that the parent rocks of sandstones in the western and southern Ordos Basin were mainly developed from continental island arc,which is closely related to the evolution of the QinlingQilian Orogenic ***,the sandstones in the northwestern Ordos Basin show complex features,which may be resulted from a typical recycling *** evidence from petrography,geochemistry and sedimentology,together with previous researches suggest the Kongtongshan and Helanshan areas were the southwestern and northwestern boundary of the Ordos Basin,respectively,and there was no clear boundary between the Hexi Corridor Belt and Ordos Basin,where a large,uniform sediment dispersal system developed during the Late Triassic.

Latest Triassic to Early Jurassic Thrusting and Exhumation in the Southern Ordos Basin, North China: Evidence from LA-ICP-MS-based Apatite Fission Track Thermochronology

The contractional structures in the southern Ordos Basin recorded critical evidence for the interaction between Ordos Basin and Qinling Orogenic Collage. In this study, we performed apatite fission track （AFT） thermochronology to unravel the timing of thrusting and exhumation for the Laolongshan-Shengrenqiao Fault （LSF） in the southern Ordos Basin. The AFT ages from opposite sides of the LSF reveal a significant latest Triassic to Early Jurassic time-temperature discontinuity across this structure. Thermal modeling reveals at the latest Triassic to Early Jurassic, a ~50~C difference in temperature between opposite sides of the LSF currently exposed at the surface. This discontinuity is best interpreted by an episode of thrusting and exhumation of the LSF with -1.7 km of net vertical displacement during the latest Triassic to Early Jurassic. These results, when combined with earlier thermochronological studies, stratigraphic contact relationship and tectono-sedimentary evolution, suggest that the southern Ordos Basin experienced coeval intense tectonic contraction and developed a north-vergent fold-and-thrust belt. Moreover, the southern Ordos Basin experienced a multi-stage differential exhumation during Mesozoic, including the latest Triassic to Early Jurassic and Late Jurassic to earliest Cretaceous thrust-driven exhumation as well as the Late Cretaceous overall exhumation. Specifically, the two thrust-driven exhumation events were related to tectonic stress propagation derived from the latest Triassic to Early Jurassic continued compression from Qinling Orogenic Collage and the Late Jurassic to earliest Cretaceous intracontinental orogeny of QinUng Orogenic Collage, respectively. By contrast, the Late Cretaceous overall exhumation event was related to the collision of an exotic terrain with the eastern margin of continental China at -100 Ma.
