The in vitro and in vivo effects of corn peptides（CPs） prepared from corn gluten meal by proteolysis with an alkaline protease and fractions of CPs from Sephadex G-15 and G-10 columns on activities of alcohol dehydroge-nase（ADH） were studied. The results show that CPs and fraction 3 of CPs from Sephadex G-10 column enhance in vitro ADH activity. Furthermore, the in vitro accelerating effect of the fraction 3 of CPs on ADH activity was superior to that of glutathione, which was also found even in the presence of ADH inhibitor, such as pyrazole. In the in vivo experiments, the animals were fed with different dosages of CPs and with a dose of Chinese distilled spirit orally, and sacrificed for the measurement of ADH activity. In vivo experimental results indicate that CPS enhanced hepatic ADH activities. To test the safety of CPs as health food, 30 d feeding test was performed. No obvious toxic effects were detected in treated Wistar rats.

In this paper, a robust output-feedback adaptive control is proposed for linear time-invariant （LTI） single- input single-output （SISO） plants with unmeasurable input disturbance. Using dynamic surface control （DSC） technique, it is shown that the explosion of complexity problem in backstepping control can be eliminated. Furthermore, the proposed adaptive DSC scheme has the following merits： 1） by introducing an initialization technique, the L~ performance of system tracking error can be guaranteed even if the plant high-frequency gain is unknown and the input disturbance exists, and 2） the adaptive law is necessary only at the first design step, which significantly reduces the design procedure. It is proved that with the proposed scheme, all the closed-loop signals are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） is a key reactive oxygen species （ROS） in signal transduction pathways leading to activation of plant defenses against biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, we investigated the effects of H2O2 pretreatment on aluminum （AI） induced antioxidant responses in root tips of two wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） genotypes, Yangmai-5 （AI-sensitive） and Jian-864 （AI-tolerant）. AI increased accumulation of H2O2 and O2^- leading to more predominant lipid peroxidation, programmed cell death and root elongation inhibition in Yangmai-5 than in Jian-864. However, H2O2 pretreatment alleviated AI- induced deleterious effects in both genotypes. Under AI stress, H2O2 pretreatment increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase and monodehydroascorbate reductase, glutathione reductase and glutathione peroxidase as well as the levels of ascorbate and glutathione more significantly in Yangmai-5 than in Jian-864. Furthermore, H2O2 pretreatment also in- creased the total antioxidant capacity evaluated as the 2, 2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl-radical scavenging activity and the ferric reducing/antioxidant power more significantly in Yangmai-5 than in Jian-864. Therefore, we conclude that H2O2 pretreatment improves wheat AI acclimation during subsequent AI exposure by enhancing the antioxidant defense capacity, which prevents ROS accumulation, and that the enhancement is greater in the AI-sensitive genotype than in the AI-tolerant genotype.

A quadratic coupling enabled parametric oscillation in an optomechanical system is used to modify the nonlinear static responses of a mechanical oscillator with a normal linear coupling. The mean value study showed that the modification of the static response on a mechanical oscillator is extremely sensitive and useful, which can readily enhance or suppress the nonlinear displacement response from a bistability case to singlet or triplet well case, freely bifurcating the equilibrium position from one to two or three. The static equilibria structure and the stability regions for mean-value controls on nano-oscillator were analyzed trader the possible modification parameters.

The pycnocline in a closed domain is tilted by external wind forcing and tends to restore to a level posi- tion when the wind falls. An internal seiche oscillation exhibits if the forcing is weak, otherwise internal surge and internal solitary waves emerge, which serve as a link to cascade energy to small-scale processes. A two-dimensional non-hydrostatic code with a turbulence closure model is constructed to extend previous laboratory studies. The model could reproduce all the key phenomena observed in the corresponding labo- ratory experiments. The model results further serve as a comprehensive and reliable data set for an in-depth understanding of the related dynamical process. The comparative analyses indicate that nonlinear term favors the generation of internal surge and subsequent internal solitary waves, and the linear model predicts the general trend reasonably well. The vertical boundary can approximately reflect all the incoming waves, while the slope boundary serves as an area for small-scale internal wave breaking and energy dissipation. The temporal evolutions of domain integrated kinetic and potential energy are also analyzed, and the results indicate that about 20% of the initial available potential energy is lost during the first internal wave breaking process. Some numerical tactics such as grid topology and model initialization are also briefly discussed.

Embolic Effects of Bletilla striata Microspheres in Renal Artery and Transplanted VX2 Liver Tumor Model in Rabbits

Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of Bletilla striata microspheres(BSMs) and its effects as an embolic agent in a rabbit model. Methods: BSMs were prepared with an emulsi?cation-cool condensation-chemical cross-linking method. The characteristics of BSMs in vitro were observed. Embolization experiments were performed in renal artery of rabbit and in a rabbit liver VX2 carcinoma model. Seventy-two New Zealand rabbits were divided into 2 groups, and the right renal artery was embolized with BSMs(200 μm in diameter) in the experimental group and with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) of the same size in the control group. The pathological findings were examined with hematoxylin-eosin and Masson stainings. Liver and renal functions were tested before and after ***2 tumor was transplanted in 15 New Zealand rabbits, which were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=5). Group A were treated with saline, group B with a mixture of doxorubicin and lipiodol, and group C with hepatic arterial infusion of BSMs(200 μm in diameter). Tumor growth rate was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging ***-related factors(bax, bcl-2) and tumor vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF) were evaluated through immunohistochemical staining. Results: The characteristics of BSMs in vitro were in full compliance with the requirements for use in interventional procedures. In the renal artery embolization experiment, after BSMs intervention, it was more dif?cult to form collateral circulation than that with PVAs, and the kidney manifested atrophy and calci?cation. There were no signi?cant difference of liver and renal functions in rabbits between groups. In the liver VX2 carcinoma embolization experiment, compared with group A, the growth rate of VX2 liver tumor and Bcl-2 levels was reduced, while apoptosis index, Bax, and VEGF were increased in group B(P0.05). Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have reached a recorded power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 25.7%just over a decade.1 Due to the solution processability,various deposition methods have been developed to prepare PSCs,including spin coating,blade coating,spray coating,slot-die printing,and ink-jet printing.2,3 Among them,screen printing has received great attention due to the unique advantages of customized pattern design,high throughput,and low-cost *** this technology holds a great promise for industrialization of perovskite solar cells.4 Till now,screen printing has been successfully applied to prepare buffer layers and electrodes of PSCs,but attempts in perovskite-layer fabrication have *** key problem is that the commonly used organic solvents with a low viscosity are not fit for screen printing,which limits the application of this deposition technology for perovskite-film manufacturing.

In this study,Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+)codoped Y_(2)O_(3)-ZnO ceramic phosphors were prepared by sol-gel *** samples had two emission bands,namely,green(535 nm) and red(660 nm),which are attributed to Er^(3+):^(2)H_(11/2)(^(4)S_(3/2))→^(4)I_(15/2)and Er^(3+):^(4)F_(9/2)→^(4)I_(15/2)radiative transitions,*** samples exhibited green-and red-emission intensity enhancement by 1.728 and 2.286 times that of the pure Y2O3host,respectively and by 514.468 and 214.341 times that of the pure ZnO *** emission intensities are first enhanced by lattice *** the change of Y:Zn ratio,the high surface energy is converted into low crystal surface resulting in the change of asymmetry crystal field for *** the intensity of the asymmetric crystal field reaches maximum,both emissions are further *** the high surface energy transforms into crystal surface energy,the microstructure changes into a compact mesoporous ***,the chemical stability of the samples improves significantly,and the final emission band of the three samples with mesoporous structures is continuously red.
