Left atrial minimum volume by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography as an indicator of diastolic dysfunction

Background Left atrial （LA） maximum volume is becoming a prognostic biomarker for left ventricular （LV） diastolic dysfunction. However, we assessed LV diastolic function by measuring LA phasic volumes using real-time threedimensional echocardiography （RT3DE） in patients with stable coronary artery disease （CAD）. Methods Sixty-five stable CAD patients with normal LV ejection fraction （LVEF） were divided into three groups according to degree of coronary stenosis： control （n=15） with 〈50% stenosis as control group, mildS （n=25） with mild stenosis （50%- 70%） and severeS （n=25） with 〉70% stenosis. LA phasic volumes and function were evaluated and compared using RT3DE and two dimensional echocardiography （2DE）. N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide （NT-proBNP） levels were examined. The correlations of RT3DE-derived parameters with other conventional indices were analyzed. Results Significant correlations between RT3DE and 2DE for LA volume measurements were： control, r=0.93; mildS, 1=0.94; severeS, r=0.90 （all P 〈0.05）. Patients with severe coronary stenosis presented higher NT-proBNP level, indices of LA minimum volume and volume before atrial contraction, but lower LA total emptying fraction （LAEF） and LAEFpass^ve. Significant correlations of RT3DE derived LA volume indices with E/E＇（r=0.695） and NF-proBNP （r=0.630） level were found. Conclusions RT3DE derived, LA indices correlate well with NT-proBNP level and may be superior to 2DE measurements for the evaluation of LV diastolic dysfunction. Enlargement of LA minimum volume in stable CAD patients without systolic dysfunction appears earlier and may be better correlated with LV diastolic function than that of LA maximum volume.

A new interacting capillary bundle model on the multiphase flow in micropores of tight rocks

Surfactants are widely used in the fracturing fluid to enhance the imbibition and thus the oil recovery rate. However, current numerical models cannot capture the physics behind capillary imbibition during the wettability alteration by surfactants. Although the interacting capillary bundle(ICB) model shows potential in characterizing imbibition rates in different pores during wettability alteration, the existing ICB models neglect the influence of wettability and viscosity ratio on the imbibition behavior, making it difficult to accurately describe the oil-water imbibition behavior within the porous media. In this work,a new ICB mathematical model is established by introducing pressure balance without assuming the position of the leading front to comprehensively describe the imbibition behavior in a porous medium under different conditions, including gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition and oil-water *** the pore size distribution of a tight rock is known, this new model can predict the changes of water saturation during the displacement process in the tight rock, and also determine the imbibition rate in pores of different sizes. The water saturation profiles obtained from the new model are validated against the waterflooding simulation results from the CMG, while the imbibition rates calculated by the model are validated against the experimental observations of gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition. The good match above indicates the newly proposed model can show the water saturation profile at a macroscopic scale while capture the underlying physics of the multiphase flow in a porous medium at a microscopic scale. Simulation results obtained from this model indicate that both wettability and viscosity ratio can affect the sequence of fluid imbibition into pores of different sizes during the multiphase flow, where less-viscous wetting fluid is preferentially imbibed into larger pores while more-viscous wetting fluid tends to be imbibed into smaller pores. Modified Sadowski formula-based model for the slope shape amplification effect under multistage slope blasting vibration

In-situ SEM characterization of fracture mechanism of TiB/Ti-2Al-6Sn titanium matrix composites after electroshocking treatment

In this article,in-situ scanning electron microscope characterization of the tensile properties of TiB/Ti-2Al-6Sn titanium matrix composite(TMC)was conducted before and after electroshocking treatment(EST).After EST,the tensile strength increased by 113.2 *** effect of EST on the tensile strength and fracture behavior of TiB was investigated using in-situ characterization of the fracture morphology and crack propagation path of the matrix and *** EST,TiB fracture introduced cracks that extended into the matrix,resulting in material *** EST,the refined TiB improved the bearing capacity of the matrix,thereby improving TMC ***,after EST,the cracks were introduced into the matrix,and resulting the fracture of matrix *** an increase in the external load,cracks in the matrix were observed to propagate to TiB,and the refined TiB was fractured,detached,and pulled out,resulting in the formation of *** the propagation path of the main crack after EST showed that the deflection angle of the main crack *** micro structure of the fracture surface indicated that the fracture of the matrix was plastic,whereas that of TiB was *** EST,the size and area of the dimples increased,confirming the increase in *** results revealed that the comprehensive mechanical properties of TiB/Ti-2Al-6Sn improved after ***,EST is an efficient method for tailoring the micro structures and mechanical properties of TMCs.

Janus Quasi‑Solid Electrolyte Membranes with Asymmetric Porous Structure for High‑Performance Lithium‑Metal Batteries

Quasi-solid electrolytes(QSEs)based on nanoporous materials are promising candidates to construct high-performance Limetal batteries(LMBs).However,simultaneously boosting the ionic conductivity(σ)and lithium-ion transference number(t^(+)) of liquid electrolyte confined in porous matrix remains ***,we report a novel Janus MOFLi/MSLi QSEs with asymmetric porous structure to inherit the benefits of both mesoporous and microporous *** Janus QSE composed of mesoporous silica and microporous MOF exhibits a neat Li^(+) conductivity of 1.5.10^(–4)S cm^(−1) with t^(+) of 0.71.A partially de-solvated structure and preference distribution of Li^(+)near the Lewis base O atoms were depicted by MD ***,the nanoporous structure enabled efficient ion flux regulation,promoting the homogenous deposition of Li^(+).When incorporated in Li||Cu cells,the MOFLi/MSLi QSEs demonstrated a high Coulombic efficiency of 98.1%,surpassing that of liquid electrolytes(96.3%).Additionally,NCM 622||Li batteries equipped with MOFLi/MSLi QSEs exhibited promising rate performance and could operate stably for over 200 cycles at 1 *** results highlight the potential of Janus MOFLi/MSLi QSEs as promising candidates for next-generation LMBs.

The shuttle effect of polysulfides is one of the key factors hindering the commercialization of lithiumsulfur batteries(LSBs).Owing to their high conductivity and advantageous structure,heterostructures can be used in sulfur fixation and catalysis of *** this study,a flower-shaped ZnO/ZnS heterostructure on a nitrogendoped porous carbon(NPC) sulfur host was *** ZnO/ZnS heterostructure regulates the electronic structure of the material and exhibits higher metal-like ***,the ZnO/ZnS heterostructure combines the strong adsorption property of ZnO and the high catalytic ability of ZnS to realize the anchoring-diffusionconversion of lithium poly sulfides(LiPSs).Results reveal that the developed ZnO/ZnS@NPC/S cathode has excellent electrochemical performance in LSBs,achieving a high discharge specific capacity of 1365.3 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1C and excellent rate capability(719 mAh·g^(-1) at 2C;the capacity decay rate is only 0.042% per cycle after 1000 cycles).Even under a high sulfur loading-E/S(electrolyte/sulfur)ratio of 5.1 mg·cm^(-2)-6 μl·mg^(-1),a high specific capacity of 723.7 mAh·g^(-1) is maintained after 60 *** study provides a new strategy for a multifunctional sulfur host that can effectively alleviate the shuttle effect of LiPSs and improve the utilization of sulfur active substances.

Study of baryon number transport dynamics and strangeness conservation effects using Ω-hadron correlations

In nuclear collisions at RHIC energies, an excess of Ω hyperons over ■ is observed, indicating that Ω has a net baryon number despite s and s quarks being produced in pairs. The baryon number in Ω may have been transported from the incident nuclei and/or produced in the baryon-pair production of Ω with other types of anti-hyperons such as Ξ. To investigate these two scenarios, we propose to measure the correlations between Ω and K and between Ω and anti-hyperons. We use two versions, the default and string-melting, of a multiphase transport(AMPT) model to illustrate the method for measuring the correlation and to demonstrate the general shape of the correlation. We present the Ω-hadron correlations from simulated Au+Au collisions at ■ =7.7 and 14.6 Ge V and discuss the dependence on the collision energy and on the hadronization scheme in these two AMPT versions. These correlations can be used to explore the mechanism of baryon number transport and the effects of baryon number and strangeness conservation on nuclear collisions.

Comparing short-term outcomes of robot-assisted and conventional laparoscopic total mesorectal excision surgery for rectal cancer in elderly patients

β-Receptor blocker enhances the anabolic effect of PTH after osteoporotic fracture
