Magnetic phase transition and continuous spin switching in a high-entropy orthoferrite single crystal

Rare-earth orthoferrite REFeO_(3)(where RE is a rare-earth ion)is gaining *** created a high-entropy orthoferrite(Tm_(0.2.Nd_(0.2.Dy_(0.2.Y_(0.2.Yb_(0.2.)FeO_(3)(HEOR)by doping five RE ions in equimolar ratios and grew the single crystal by optical floating zone *** strongly tends to form a single-phase structure stabilized by high configurational *** the low-temperature region(11.6‒14.4 K),the spin reorientation transition(SRT)ofΓ_(2.(F_(x),C_(y),G_(z))‒Γ_(2.)‒Γ_(4)(G_(x),A_(y),F_(z))*** weak ferromagnetic(FM)moment,which comes from the Fe sublattices distortion,rotates from the a-to *** two-step dynamic processes(Γ_(2.‒Γ_(2.)‒Γ_(4))are identified by AC susceptibility *** in HEOR can be tuned in the range of 50‒60000 Oe,which is an order of magnitude larger than that of orthoferrites in the peer system,making it a candidate for high-field spin *** spin-switching(SSW)and continuous spin-switching(CSSW)effects occur under low magnetic fields due to the strong interactions between RE‒Fe *** CSSW effect is tunable between 2.‒50 Oe,and hence,HEOR potentially can be applied to spin modulation ***,because of the strong anisotropy of magnetic entropy change()and refrigeration capacity(RC)based on its high configurational entropy,HEOR is expected to provide a novel approach for refrigeration by altering the orientations of the crystallographic axes(anisotropic configurational entropy).

A three-dimensional numerical model is proposed for modeling the TP transport in the Horizontal Subsurface Flow （HSSF） and Wavy subsurface Flow （WSSF） constructed wetland in this article. Both numerical simulations and physical experiments indicate that the removal efficiency of WSSF is higher than that of HSSF. The difference ofperforrnance in removing pollutants, e.g., Total Phosphorus （TP）, between HSSF and WSSF is numerically analyzed from three interactive aspects, that is, the hydraulic behavior, the substrate and the plant roots. It is shown that the dead zone volume in WSSF is smaller than in HSSF with less short circuiting. The soil in the top layer is more used in WSSF than in HSSF. The TP uptake by the plant roots in WSSF is higher than that in HSSF.

The cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrdinger equation (CQNLS) plays important parts in the optical fiber andthe nuclear *** using the homogeneous balance principle,the bell type,kink type,algebraic solitarywaves,and trigonometric traveling waves for the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrdinger equation with variable coefficients(vCQNLS) are derived with the aid of a set of subsidiary high-order ordinary differential equations (sub-equations forshort).The method used in this paper might help one to derive the exact solutions for the other high-order nonlinearevolution equations,and shows the new application of the homogeneous balance principle.

In the era of exponential growth of data availability,the architecture of systems has a trend toward high dimensionality,and directly exploiting holistic information for state inference is not always computationally *** paper proposes a novel Bayesian filtering algorithm that considers algorithmic computational cost and estimation accuracy for high-dimensional linear *** high-dimensional state vector is divided into several blocks to save computation resources by avoiding the calculation of error covariance with immense *** that,two sequential states are estimated simultaneously by introducing an auxiliary variable in the new probability space,mitigating the performance degradation caused by state ***,the computational cost and error covariance of the proposed algorithm are analyzed analytically to show its distinct features compared with several existing *** results illustrate that the proposed Bayesian filtering can maintain a higher estimation accuracy with reasonable computational cost when applied to high-dimensional linear systems.

Activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3),a member of the activating transcription factor/cAMPresponsive element binding protein (ATF/CREB) family of transcription factors,is induced by manyphysiological *** investigate the activity of ATF/CREB in cells with physiological stresses,we developeda practical reporter vector,the plasmid pATF/CRE-luc,bearing activating transcription factor/cAMP responsiveelement (ATF/CRE) binding *** plasmid was constructed by inserting three repeats of the ATF/CREbinding element into the plasmid pG51uc,replacing the GAL-4 binding *** plasmids pACT/ATF3 andpATF/CRE-luc were transfected into HeLa and NIH3T3 cells,respectively,and the results showed that theexpression of luciferase .was increased in a dose-dependent manner on plasmid pACT/*** datasuggested that the plasmid pATF/CRE-luc could be used as a sensitive and convenient reporter system ofATF3 activity.

Internet-Based Optimization and Choice of Insert Grooves for Face-Milling

Manufacture is facing more furiously competition in the new century. It tends to be globalized. Rapid response and technology innovation have become the key factor to the success of manufacture enterprise. At present, internet-based manufacturing develops rapidly. With the development of engineering material and machining techniques, better cutting properties of metal cutting tools are required. The world is paying more attention to the study of indexable carbide inserts with three-dimensional complex grooves which can affect cutting properties directly and chip-controlling. So the variety and specification of indexable insert develop quickly and the application of insert with three-dimensional complex chip-former becomes wider and wider. Because milling is an interrupted cutting, the process of milling is complicated and the failure of the milling inserts is severe. It is important to choose suitable milling inserts groove for particular machining conditions before actual machining, it will extend tool life and raise productivity. Optimization and choice of inserts with complex groove via internet may serve for manufacture enterprises all over the world. The milling inserts with three-dimensional complex grooves are optimized and chosen via Internet in this paper. The face-milling process is studied, with the mathematics models of cutting force for different shape of cutting edges established, the cutting forces predicted and stress-fields of different insert grooves analyzed by FEM, according to the predictable results and the most suitable insert groove for particular machining conditions are optimized and chosen. The complex groove optimization and choice are based on a client/server model, with the client and server being on different machines across the internet. Communication between the client and server uses the TCP/IP. The result of optimization and choice will be sent to the users via Internet. Ni supported on activated carbon as catalyst for flue gas desulfurization

A series of Ni supported on activated carbon are prepared by excessive impregnation and the desulfurization activity is investigated. It has been shown that the activated carbon-supported Ni is an efficient solid catalyst for flue gas desulfurization. The activated carbon treated by HNO3 exhibits high desulfurization activity, and different amounts of loaded-Ni on activated carbon significantly influence the desulfurization activity. The catalysts are studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results of XRD and XPS indicate that the activated carbon treated by HNO3 can increase oxygen-containing functional groups. Ni on activated carbon after calcination at 800 °C shows major Ni phase and minor NiO phase, and with increasing Ni content on activated carbon, Ni phase increases and affects the desulfurization activity of the catalyst, which proves that Ni is the main active phase.

Polarizable electrodes of electric double layer capacitor (EDLCs) were made from carbon nanotubes. Effects of different binders, which are phenolic resin (PF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), on the properties of polarizable electrodes are studied. Results indicate that the microstructure, pore size distribution and specific capacitance of the electrodes with PTFE binder are superior to those electrodes with PF binder after carbonization. The suitable binder (PTFE) for carbon nanotubes electrodes is proposed.

Neuromorphic computing is known for its efficient computational speed,low latency,and reduced power consumption,which is considered a pivotal technology to overcome the von Neumann *** synapses are an indispensable component of neuromorphic computational artificial neural *** guarantee effective and precise processing of optical signals,it must have a high responsivity,detectivity,and the ability to adapt to various ***,a synaptic transistor based on the HfS_(2./VO_(2. heterojunction with a responsivity of8.6×10^(3) A·W^(-1)and a detectivity of 1.2.×10^(14)Jones at405 nm laser was ***,the typical synaptic behavior was successfully simulated,including postsynaptic currents(PSCs),the transition from shortterm plasticity(STP)to long-term plasticity(LTP).When VO_(2. converts from the semiconductor state to the metal state,the HfS_(2./VO_(2. heterojunction transforms into a Schottky heterojunction from a TypeⅡheterojunction with ***'s important,the heterojunction still exhibits excellent responsivity and detectivity,as well as stability of synaptic *** addition,the classical Pavlovian conditioning experiment is simulated under different laser intensity to study the brain's associative learning *** results demonstrate that the HfS_(2./VO_(2. heterojunction synapse exhibits significant responsivity and detectivity and is adaptable to high-temperature environments,showing great potential for neuromorphic computational applic ations.
