Association of prealbumin with short-term and long-term outcomes in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND Prealbumin is considered to be a useful indicator of nutritional status. Furthermore, it has been found to be associated with severities and prognosis of a range of diseases. However, limited data on the association of baseline prealbumin level with outcomes of patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI) are *** We analyzed 2.1. patients admitted for acute STEMI between October 2.1. and December 2.2.. In-hospital outcomes and mortality during the 49 months(interquartile range: 2.–73 months) follow-up period were compared between patients with the low prealbumin level(170 mg/L) and those with the high prealbumin level(≥ 170 mg/L).RESULTS A total of 114 patients(4.9%) died during hospitalization. After propensity score matching, patients with the low prealbumin level than those with the high prealbumin level experienced higher incidences of heart failure with Killip class Ⅲ(9.9%vs. 4.4%, P = 0.034), cardiovascular death(8.4% vs. 3.4%, P = 0.035) and the composite of major adverse cardiovascular events(19.2.vs. 10.3%, P = 0.012.. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified that the low prealbumin level(170 mg/L) was an independent predictor of in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events(odds ratio = 1.918, 95% CI: 1.2.0–2.942. P = 0.003). The cutoff value of prealbumin level for predicting in-hospital death was 170 mg/L(area under the curve = 0.703, 95% CI: 0.651–0.754, P1;sensitivity = 0.544, specificity = 0.794). However, after multivariate adjustment of possible confounders, baseline prealbumin level(170 mg/L) was no longer independently associated with 49-month cardiovascular death. Subsurface deformation mechanism and the interplay relationship between strength–ductility and fretting wear resistance during fretting of a high-strength titanium alloy

Fretting wear damage of high-strength titanium fasteners has caused a large number of disastrous ***,it is believed that both high strength and excellent ductility can reduce fretting wear ***,whether strength and ductility are contradictory or not and their appropriate matching strategy under the external applied normal stress(Fw)are still confusing ***,by analyzing the subsurface-microstructure deformation mechanism of several samples containing variousαprecipitate features,for the first time,we design strategies to improve fretting damage resistance under different matching relation between Fw and the tensile strength of materials(Rm).It is found that when Fw is greater than Rm or Fw is nearly equivalent to Rm,the deformation mechanism mainly manifests as serious grain fragmentation ofβandαGB *** deformation in large areas only reduces damage to a limited *** is crucial to improve the strength to resist cracking and wear,but it is of little significance to improve the ***,when Fw is far less than Rm,coordinated deformation ability reflected by ductility plays a more important *** deformation mechanism mainly manifests as localized deformation ofβandαGB constituents(kinking induced by twinning and spheroidizing).A unique composite structure of nano-grained/lamellar layer and localized deformation transition layer reduces fretting damage by five times compared with a single nanograined *** when the strength is great enough,improving the plasticity can reduce *** study can provide a principle for designing fretting damage resistant alloys.

Phytic acid-derivative Co_(2.B-CoPO_x coralloidal structure with delicate boron vacancy for enhanced hydrogen generation from sodium borohydride

Application of transition metal boride(TMB) catalysts towards hydrolysis of NaBH_(4) holds great significance to help relieve the energy crisis. Herein, we present a facile and versatile metal-organic framework(MOF) assisted strategy to prepare Co_(2.B-CoPO_x with massive boron vacancies by introducing phytic acid(PA) cross-linked Co complexes that are acquired from reaction of PA and ZIF-67 into cobalt boride. The PA etching effectively breaks down the structure of ZIF-67 to create more vacancies, favoring the maximal exposure of active sites and elevation of catalytic activity. Experimental results demonstrate a drastic electronic interaction between Co and the dopant phosphorous(P), thereby the robustly electronegative P induces electron redistribution around the metal species, which facilitates the dissociation of B-H bond and the adsorption of H_(2.O molecules. The vacancy-rich Co_(2.B-CoPO_x catalyst exhibits scalable performance, characterized by a high hydrogen generation rate(HGR) of 7716.7 m L min^(-1)g^(-1) and a low activation energy(Ea) of 44.9 k J/mol, rivaling state-of-the-art catalysts. This work provides valuable insights for the development of advanced catalysts through P doping and boron vacancy engineering and the design of efficient and sustainable energy conversion systems.

Effect of acid oxidization of carbon nanotube electrode on the capacitances of double layer capacitors

Polarizable electrode of electric double layer capacitor was made from carbon nanotubes. The effect of acid oxidation of electrode on the specific capacitance was studied. Oxidation removed the redundant carbon, expanded the pore size and introducedf some kinds of functional groups on the surface of CNTs. The specific capacitance of the electrodes winth organic electrolyte was increased from 2..4 to 49.6 F/g after being oxidized at a volume ratio H2.O4 to HNO3 of 3:1.

Repair effect of diabetic ulcers with recombinant human epidermal growth factor loaded by sustained-release microspheres

In this study the w/o/w extraction–evaporation technique was adopted to prepare poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres loading recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF). The micro-spheres were characterized for morphology by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and particle size distribution. The release performances, the proliferation effects and therapeutic effects of rhEGF-loaded PLGA microspheres were all studied. The results showed that these spherical micro-spheres had a narrow size distribution and a high drug encapsulation efficiency (85.6%). RhEGF-loaded microspheres enhanced the growth rate of fibroblasts and wound healing more efficiently than pure rhEGF. The number of the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in the epidermis layer with the mi-crosphere treatment was significantly larger than those of the control groups. Overall locally sustained delivery of rhEGF from biodegradable PLGA microspheres may serve as a novel therapeutic strategy for diabetic ulcer repair.
