In the 1990s, some geologists named the Early Triassic isolated carbonate platform in the Luodian area of southern Guizhou Province in South China as the ＂Great Bank of Guizhou＂. During the past twenty years, this term ＂Great Bank of Guizhou＂ was used in more than 300 articles in foreign countries. In the 1990s, the authors have studied the lithofacies palaeogeography of the Early and Middle Triassic in South China. In June 2014, we went to the Luodian area and studied the Early Triassic Bianyang section again. According to the geological data we acquired, in the Early Triassic of the Luodian area of southern Guizhou Province, there was only an isolated ＂Luodian Carbonate Platform＂, while no bank existed, not to mention the ＂Great Bank of Guizhou＂. It is worth further discussion.

During the past 30 years （1987-2016）, a great progress has been made in researches of soft-sediment deformation structures （SSDS）, seismites and pataeoearthquakes in China. However, the research thought of this academic fietd is not open enough. It is atmost with one viewpoint or one voice, i.e., atmost art the papers pubtished in journals of China considered the layers with SSDS as seismites. On the other hand, the authors are very glad to learn that the professors and students of China University of Petroleum （East China） have proposed different academic viewpoints on the origin of SSDS in lingshan Istand, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. It is a very active academic atmosphere. The authors＇ ideas are as follows：（1） The SSDS are sedimentary structures with multi-origin. The term ＂SSDS＂ is a good sedimentary and geological term and shoutd be utilized continuat[y. （2） The term ＂seismites＂ is a term which is definitety assigned to the layers with SSDS induced by earthquakes. It is one type of the tayers with SSDS. It is not equal to SSDS. （3） Some geotogists suggested obsoleting the term ＂seismites＂. These suggestions are rational However, since the term ＂seismites＂ has been utilized for a long time in China and worldwide, to obsolete this term should be discussed and agreement should be acquired from numerous geologists in China and worldwide. It may be suitable that let the geological practice decide whether to obsolete it or not. （4） Hopefully, further progress will be made in the researches of SSDS.

A new method of high-gravity combustion synthesis(HGCS)followed by post-treatment(PT)is reported for preparing high-performance high-entropy alloys(HEAs),Cr0.9FeNi2.5V0.2Al0.5 alloy,whereby cheap thermite powder is used as the raw *** this process,the HEA melt and the ceramic melt are rapidly formed by a strong exothermic combustion synthesis reaction and completely separated under a high-gravity ***,the master alloy is obtained after ***,the master alloy is sequentially subjected to conventional vacuum arc melting(VAM),homogenization treatment,cold rolling,and annealing treatment to realize a tensile strength,yield strength,and elongation of 1250 MPa,1075 MPa,and 2.9%,*** present method is increasingly attractive due to its low cost of raw materials and the intermediate product obtained without high-temperature *** on the calculation of phase separation kinetics in the high-temperature melt,it is expected that the final alloys with high performance can be prepared directly across master alloys with higher high-gravity coefficients.

Influence of water potential and soil type on conventional japonica super rice yield and soil enzyme activities

We carried out a pool culture experiment to determine the optimal water treatment depth in loam and clay soils during the late growth stage of super rice. Three controlled water depth treatments of 0-5, 0-10 and 0-15 cm below the soil surface were established using alternate wetting and drying irrigation, and the soil water potential （0 to -25 kPa） was measured at 5, 10 and 15 cm. A 2-cm water layer was used as the control. We measured soil enzyme activities, root antioxidant enzyme activities, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, and rice yield. The results showed that the 0-5-cm water depth treatment significantly increased root antioxidant enzyme activities in loam soil compared with the control, whereas soil enzyme activities, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and yield did not differ from those of the control. The 0-10- and 0-15-cm water depth treatments also increased root antioxidant enzyme activities, whereas soil enzyme activities, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and yield decreased. In clay soil, the soil enzyme activities, root antioxidant enzyme activities, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, and yield did not change with the 0-5-cm water treatment, whereas the 0-10- and 0-15-cm water treatments improved these parameters. Therefore,the appropriate depths for soil water during the late growth period of rice with a 0 to -25 kPa water potential were 5 cm in loam and 15 cm in clay soil.

AIM: To investigate the incidence, characteristics, and risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in Chinese patients with primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC).METHODS: We reviewed the data of 52 PB Cassociated HCC patients treated at Beijing 302 Hospital from January 2002 to December 2013 and analyzed its incidence and characteristics between the two genders. The risk factors for PBC-associated HCC were analyzed via a case-control study comprising 20 PBC patients with HCC and 77 matched controls without HCC. The matched factors included gender, age, follow-up period and Child-Pugh scores. Conditional logistic regression was used to evaluate the odds ratios of potential risk factors for HCC development. A P likely than the females to have undergone blood transfusion(18.75% vs 8.33%, P = 0.043), consumed alcohol(31.25% vs 8.33%, P = 0.010), smoked(31.25% vs 8.33%, P = 0.010), had a family history of malignancy(25% vs 5.56%, P = 0.012), and had serious liver inflammation, as indicated by the elevated levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(P < 0.05). Conditional logistic regression analysis revealed that body mass index(BMI) ≥ 25 [adjusted odds ratio(AOR) = 1.116, 95%CI: 1.002-1.244, P = 0.045] and history of alcohol intake(AOR = 10.294, 95%CI: 1.108-95.680, P = 0.040) were significantly associated with increased odds of HCC development in PBC patients. CONCLUSION: HCC is not rare in Chinese PBC patients. Risk factors for PBC-associated HCC include BMI ≥ 25 and a history of alcohol intake. In addition to regul

Although dilute magnetic semiconductors have promising potentials in spintronics applications,the mechanism of their ferromagnetism remains *** extensive theoretical models and exotic experimental evidences provide self-consistent but usually contradictory explanations on its either intrinsic or extrinsic *** find room temperature ferromagnetism in a series of Zn_(1-x)Co_(x)O(0.03≤x≤0.10)thin films prepared using magnetron co-sputtering method and treated with post-annealing at temperatures 350℃ and 500℃.The origin of the ferromagnetism is investigated in terms of electronic structure combining hard x-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)at Zn and Co K-edge,and soft x-ray XAS at O K-edge and Co L_(2,3)-*** full multiple scattering theory is employed to reinforce the interpretation of the XAS spectra,which concludes that full substitution of zinc by cobalt is responsible for the room temperature ferromagnetism due to the d states of cobalt within the framework of bound magnetic ***,the evidence of cobalt nanoclusters is detected at highly doped and annealed *** first principles calculation confirms the electronic structural evidences via the formation energy.
