Considering the discontinuous characteristics of sea ice on various scales,a modified discrete element model（DEM） for sea ice dynamics is developed based on the granular material rheology.In this modified DEM,a soft sea ice particle element is introduced as a self-adjustive particle size function.Each ice particle can be treated as an assembly of ice floes,with its concentration and thickness changing to variable sizes under the conservation of mass.In this model,the contact forces among ice particles are calculated using a viscous-elastic-plastic model,while the maximum shear forces are described with the Mohr-Coulomb friction law.With this modified DEM,the ice flow dynamics is simulated under the drags of wind and current in a channel of various widths.The thicknesses,concentrations and velocities of ice particles are obtained,and then reasonable dynamic process is analyzed.The sea ice dynamic process is also simulated in a vortex wind field.Taking the influence of thermodynamics into account,this modified DEM will be improved in the future work.

Aer Met100 steel thick wall is fabricated by in-situ rolling composite wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM).The microstructure and mechanical properties of Aer Met100 steel after heat treatment are studied.The results show that after the introduction of in-situ rolling force,the grain of Aer Met100 steel is broken,the anisotropy is eliminated,and the microstructure is refined obviously.The microstructure of Aer Met100 steel after heat treatment is mainly lath martensite and reverse austenite.There are 40 nm-68.6 nm alloy carbides precipitated in the martensitic matrix,and the hardening mechanism is mainly Orowan bypass strengthening.The film-like reverse austenite with the thickness ranging from 2 nm to 5 nm exists between the martensitic lath,which improves the toughness of the maraging steel.Good combination of strength and toughness can be achieved through proper heat treatment process.

The wave method is introduced to vibration analysis of the fluid-conveying carbon nanotube. The constitutive relation of carbon nanotube on micro-scale is founded using the non- local elastic theory. The governing equation on micro-scale is obtained. And the first five orders of the natural frequency of the carbon nanotube conveying fluid with various speeds are calculated through the wave method. Besides, the critical flow velocity when the carbon nanotube loses stability is obtained. Meanwhile, a contrast is made between the result obtained through tile wave method and that in previous researches.

Patients with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) relapse within months after completing previous therapies. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of anlotinib as third- or further-line therapy in patients with short-term relapsed SCLC from ALTER1202. Patients with short-term relapsed SCLC (disease progression within 3 months after completing ≥ two lines of chemotherapy) in the anlotinib (n = 67) and placebo (n = 34) groups were analyzed. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). The secondary endpoints included overall survival, objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate, and safety. Anlotinib significantly improved median PFS/OS (4.0 vs. 0.7 months, P line anlotinib treatment was associated with improved survival benefit. Further studies are warranted in this regard.

It is important to eliminate lipopolysaccharide(LPS)along with killing bacteria in periprosthetic joint infection(PJI)therapy for promoting bone repair due to its effect to regulate macrophages response.Although natural antimicrobial peptides(AMPs)offer a good solution,the unknown toxicity,high cost and exogenetic immune response hamper their applications in clinic.In this work,we fabricated a nanowire-like composite material,named P@C,by combining chitosan and puerarin via solid-phase reaction,which can finely mimic the bio-functions of AMPs.Chitosan,serving as the bacteria membrane puncture agent,and puerarin,serving as the LPS target agent,synergistically destroy the bacterial membrane structure and inhibit its recovery,thus endowing P@C with good antibacterial property.In addition,P@C possesses good osteoimmunomodulation due to its ability of LPS elimination and macrophage differentiation modulation.The in vivo results show that P@C can inhibit the LPS induced bone destruction in the Escherichia coli infected rat.P@C exhibits superior bone regeneration in Escherichia coli infected rat due to the comprehensive functions of its superior antibacterial property,and its ability of LPS elimination and immunomodulation.P@C can well mimic the functions of AMPs,which provides a novel and effective method for treating the PJI in clinic.

Vertical distribution of volatile organic compounds conducted by tethered balloon in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region of China

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) as precursors of ozone and secondary organic aerosols can cause adverse effects on the environment and human health.However,knowledge of the VOC vertical profile in the lower troposphere of major Chinese cities is poorly understood.In this study,tethered balloon flights were conducted over the juncture of BeijingTianjin-Hebei in China during the winter of 2016.Thirty-six vertical air samples were collected on selected heavy and light pollution days at altitudes of 50-1000 meters above ground level.On average,the concentration of total VOCs(TVOCs) at 50-100 m was 4.9 times higher than at 900-1000 m(46.9 ppbV vs.8.0 ppbV).TVOC concentrations changed rapidly from altitudes of 50-100 to 401-500 m,with an average decrease of 72%.With further altitude increase,the TVOC concentration gradually decreased.The xylene/benzene ratios of 34/36 air samples were lower than 1.1,and the benzene/toluene ratios of 34/36 samples were higher than 0.4,indicating the occurrence of aged air mass during the sampling period.Alkenes contributed most in terms of both OH loss rate(39%-71%) and ozone formation potential(40%-72%),followed by aromatics(6%-38%).Finally,the main factors affecting the vertical distributions of VOCs were local source emission and negative dispersion conditions on polluted days.These data could advance our scientific understanding of VOC vertical distribution.

Ti-based alloys have been widely applied in the aerospace field,owing to their outstanding performance.Precision casting can be used to make integrated near-net-shape components with complex thin-walled structures,which will further promote the engineering application of Ti-based alloys. In this paper,the research progress of Tibased alloys,e. g.,high-temperature Ti-based alloys,high-strength Ti-based alloys,TiAl-based alloys,Ti-based matrix composites,and their precision casting technologies are reviewed. In addition,the development directions of Tibased alloys are presented based on the application status of Ti-based alloys in the aerospace field.

Soybean(Glycine max L.)is a typical photoperiodsensitive crop,such that photoperiod determines its flowering time,maturity,grain yield,and phenological adaptability.During evolution,the soybean genome has undergone two duplication events,resulting in about 75%of all genes being represented by multiple copies,which is associated with rampant gene redundancy.Among duplicated genes,the important soybean maturity gene E2 has two homologs,E2-like a(E2La)and E2-like b(E2Lb),which encode orthologs of Arabidopsis GIGANTEA(GI).Although E2 was cloned a decade ago,we still know very little about its contribution to flowering time and even less about the function of its homologs.Here,we generated single and double mutants in E2,E2La,and E2Lb by genome editing and determined that E2 plays major roles in the regulation of flowering time and yield,with the two E2 homologs depending on E2 function.At high latitude regions,e2 single mutants showed earlier flowering and high grain yield.Remarkably,in terms of genetic relationship,genes from the legume-specific transcription factor family E1 were epistatic to E2.We established that E2 and E2-like proteins form homodimers or heterodimers to regulate the transcription of E1 family genes,with the homodimer exerting a greater function than the heterodimers.In addition,we established that the H3 haplotype of E2 is the ancestral allele and is mainly restricted to low latitude regions,from which the loss-of-function alleles of the H1 and H2haplotypes were derived.Furthermore,we demonstrated that the function of the H3 allele is stronger than that of the H1 haplotype in the regulation of flowering time,which has not been shown before.Our findings provide excellent allelic combinations for classical breeding and targeted gene disruption or editing.
