Imaging findings and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of hepatic malignancy with right atrial embolus in 46 patients

AIM: To analyze the imaging findings of hepatic malignancy with right atrial (RA) embolus. METHODS: Forty-six patients with an embolus in the RA were diagnosed, including 44 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 1 patient with cholangiocellular carcinoma and 1 patient with hepatic carcinoma metastasis. The diagnosis was confirmed by clinical examination, serum α-fetoprotein and imaging. Seventeen patients underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). RESULTS: On enhancement computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, a nodular filling defect in the RA could be easily found, with a slight enhancement in the arterial phase. The coronal images of CT or MR showed the extent of lesion. lipiodol entered the embolus after TACE, hence reducing the speed of embolus growth. There was a survival benefit for patients receiving anticancer treatment. CONCLUSION: Patients with HCC, showing a filling defect of the inferior vena cava (IVC), hepatic vein (HV) and RA on images, can be diagnosed with RA embolus. Encroachment of the RA is very rare in patients with hepatic malignancies. Furthermore, a prolongation of survival time is found in those patients who underwent TACE.

As a simple binary compound, p-type SnS shows great competitiveness in thermoelectrics due to the certain appealing carrier and phonon transport behaviors, coupled with its cost-effectiveness, earth-abundance and environmental compatibility. To promote the application of low-cost thermoelectric devices, we synthesized n-type SnS crystals through bromine doping. Herein, we report a high in-plane power factor of ~28 μW cm^(-1)K^(-2), and attribute it to an outstanding in-plane carrier mobility in the crystal form and the large Seebeck coefficient benefitting from the low carrier concentration. The calculations of elastic properties show that the low lattice thermal conductivity in SnS is closely related to its strong anharmonicity. Combining the excellent electrical transport properties with low thermal conductivity, a final ZT of ~0.4 is attained at 300 K, projecting a conversion efficiency of ~5% at 873 K along the in-plane direction.

Ultrafine austenite grains with average size of 2μm were successfully obtained by combining thermo-mechanical control process followed by reheating in a vanadium microalloyed *** mixed microstructure transformed from pancaked austenite formed during controlled rolling has a higher density of high angle boundaries,compared to that transformed from equiaxial *** contributes to increasing nucleation density of austenite grain during the reheating process.A certain volume fraction of undissolved nano-sized（Ti,V）C particles,which are formed during the controlled rolling process and/or the reheating process,effectively inhibit austenite grain growth and consequently refine austenite grain size *** critical grain size of austenite calculated by Gladman model agrees well with the experimental result.

Due to ever-increasing concerns about safety issues in using li ionic batteries,solid electrolytes have extensively *** li-rich antiperovskite li3OBr has been considered as a promising solid electrolyte candidate,but it still suffers challenges to achieve a high ionic conductivity owing to the high intrinsic symmetry of the crystal ***,we presented a design strategy that introduces various point defects and grain boundaries to break the high lattice symmetry of li3OBr crystal,and their effect and microscopic mechanism of promoting the migration of li-ion were explored *** has been found that liiare the dominant defects responsible for the fast li-ion diffusion in bulk li3OBr and its surface,but they are easily trapped by the grain boundaries,leading to the annihilating of the Frenkel defect pair V'li+li,and thus limits the V'lidiffusion at the grain *** VBrdefect near the grain boundaries can effectively drive V'liacross the grain boundary,thereby converting the carrier of li+migration from li,in the bulk and surface to V'liat the grain boundary,and thus improving the ionic conductivity in the whole li3OBr *** work provides a comprehensive insight into the li+transport and conduction mechanism in the li3OBr *** opens a new way of improving the conductivity for all-solid-state li electrolyte material through the defect design.

The wide-bandgap cubic-structure semiconductor In_(4)SnSe_(4) can be regarded as a product of compositing two typical layered thermoelectric materials SnSe and In_(4)Se_(3).Remarkably,In_(4)SnSe_(4) inherited low thermal conductivity from its parent *** advance the potential thermoelectric property of In_(4)SnSe_(4),we systematically investigated its crystal structure and the origin of the intrinsic low thermal ***_(4)SnSe_(4) crystallized in a cubic phase(space group Pa3),with the lattice parameters of a=b=c=12.66Å.The anisotropy of IneSe bonds in the lattice determined the complex structure of In_(4)SnSe_(4) with 72 atoms in the primitive *** importantly,sound velocity and elastic properties unclosed the strong anharmonicity in In_(4)SnSe_(4),which contributed greatly to the low thermal *** first-principles calculations,it was found that the lone-pair electrons from In^(+)mainly caused the anharmonicity in the ***,Br was proved to be an effective dopant for In_(4)SnSe_(4) to improve the electrical transport *** work indicated that the complex wide-bandgap semiconductor In_(4)SnSe_(4) with cubic phase and intrinsic low thermal conductivity was a new promising thermoelectric material with appropriate doping.

In this paper,we define the evolute and focal surface of a spacelike framed curve with lightlike components in Minkowski *** is a generalization of the previous results of regular spacelike curves,since singularities are allowed in the original spacelike curves studied by spacelike framed curves with lightlike ***,we show a new geometric invariant to characterise singularities of the focal ***,the classification theorem and recognition theorem for the singularities of the focal surface in generic are also given.

The stability analysis of a finite Stokes layer is of practical importance in flow control. In the present work, the instantaneous stability of a finite Stokes layer with layer interactions is studied via a linear stability analysis of the frozen phases of the base flow. The oscillations of two plates can have different velocity amplitudes, initial phases, and frequencies. The effects of the Stokes-layer interactions on the stability when two plates oscillate synchronously are analyzed. The growth rates of two most unstable modes when δ lizing effect on the most unstable mode when δ lizing effect when δ > 0.68. However, the interactions always have a stabilizing effect on the other unstable mode. It is explained that one of the two unstable modes has much higher dissipation than the other one when the Stokes-layer interactions are strong. We also find that the stability of the Stokes layer is closely related to the inflectional points of the base-flow velocity profile. The effects of inconsistent velocity-amplitude, initial phase, and frequency of the oscillations on the stability are analyzed. The energy of the most unstable eigenvector is mainly distributed near the plate of higher velocity amplitude or higher oscillation frequency. The effects of the initial phase difference are complicated because the base-flow velocity is extremely sensitive to the initial phase.
