AIM To determine the expression and clinicalsignificance of chromogranin A and cathepsin Din hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS Double immunofluorescence stain-ing techniques combined with laser confocalscanning microscopy(LSCM)was used toinvestigate chromogranin A and cathepsin Dexpressions in 85 HCC *** Cathepsin D was expressed in :3normal liver tissues,while in HCC the stainingshowed regional variation and the fraction ofstrongly stained cells increased as the tumorsbecame less differentiated and usually clinicallymore *** which showed strongpositivity for cathepsin D were present in 71/85(83.5%)*** expression of cathepsinD in cancer cells was related tohistopathological *** were morecommon in grade 3-4(26/28,92.9%)and grade2(46/53,86.8%)tumors than in grade 1 tumors(1/4,25.0%)(P0.05)*** coexpression of CgA andcathepsin D was found by double labeledimmunofluorescence staining *** of cathepsin D was disturbed in HCCcells and accumulated in the *** Dhad proteolytic activity and autocrine mitogeniceffect,suggesting their functions in *** findings demonstrated that the expressionof cathepsin D in HCC had prognostic *** Chromogranin A and cathepsin Dare expressed in a high proportion of HCC andthe existence of cathepsin D in HCC might berelated to processing of *** is clearly asubject for further studies because of itspotential clinical applications.

A STREAMliNE-BASED PREDICTIVE MODEL FOR ENHANCED-OIL-RECOVERY POTENTIAliTY

A pseudo-three-dimensional model of potentiality prediction is proposed for enhanced oil recovery, based on the streamline method described in this article. The potential distribution of the flow through a porous medium under a complicated boundary condition is solved with the boundary element method. Furthermore, the method for tracing streamlines between injection wells and producing wells is presented. Based on the results, a numerical solution can be obtained by solving the seepage problem of the stream-tube with consideration of different methods of Enhanced Oil Recovery（EOR）. The advantage of the method given in this article is that it can obtain dynamic calculation with different well patterns of any shape by easily considering different physicochemical phenomena having less calculation time and good stability. Based on the uniform theory basis-streamline method, different models, including CO2 miscible flooding, polymer flooding, alkaline/surfactant/polymer flooding and microbial flooding, are established in this article.

This study investigates the hydrodynamic performance of a submerged two layer horizontal plate breakwater. The plate thickness is considered as non-zero in the study. In the context of linear potential theory, an analytical solution for interaction of water waves with the plates is obtained using the matched eigenfunction expansion method. The solution consists of a symmetric part and an antisymmetric part. Its validity is confirmed by comparing the numerical results of reflection and transmission coefficients for limiting cases with previous predictions. Numerical examples are given to examine the major factors that affect the reflection and transmission coefficients of the plates. Some useful results are presented for engineering design.

Resistance of Cement-based Grouting Materials with Nano- SiO_(2) Emulsion to Chloride Ion Penetration

The chloride penetration resistance of cement-based grout materials was improved by nano-silica *** of mixtures containing different nano-silica particles or emulsions were exposed in sodium chloride solutions of specific concentrations with different test *** properties of the mixes were assessed in terms of weight loss and compressive strength.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)of mixes were performed to analysis the phase evolution and *** results demonstrated that the introduction of nano-SiO_(2) emulsion significantly decreased the compressive strength loss and calcium hydroxide(CH)crystal content of hydration production,and then enhanced the resistance of cement-based grouting materials to chloride ion *** improvement derives from the filling and pozzolanic effects of nano-SiO_(2) particles,which were incorporated via an emulsion and attributed to a well dispersion in grouting matrix.

Hurricane intensity and track are strongly affected by air-sea interactions. Classified as following swells,crossing swells, and opposing swells, the observed wave height was parameterized by using the 10-m wind speed collected on 5 buoys by the National Buoy Data Center during 13 hurricane events. The path information of these 13 hurricanes was obtained from the National Hurricane Center Best Track(NHC-BT). Results show that the wave height increases exponentially with the 10-m wind speed, and the wave height reaches the maximum value, 11.2 m(8.1 m),when 10-m wind speed is 40 m s-1 under the following and crossing(opposing) swell conditions. We find that the wave steepness(the ratio of wave height to wave length) is proportional to the-2/3 power of the wave age(the ratio of wave phase velocity to 10-m wind speed). The parameterizations of friction velocity and drag coefficient are tested using the buoy data collected in moderate to high wind under following, crossing and opposing swell conditions. A wave age dependent equation for drag coefficient is found more accurate and recommended for future usage in numerical ***, these algorithms also suggest that wind-swell orientation needs to be considered to retrieve accurate surface drag under high winds and strong swells.

Hybrid of comprehensive learning particle swarm optimization and SQP algorithm for large scale economic load dispatch optimization of power system

Economic load dispatch (ELD) is an important optimization task in power systems. In the previous works, various researchers attempted to address this problem by both mathmatical and heuristic optimization algorithms. However, there are still two practically important issues that have not attracted sufficient attention: 1) the stability of these algorithms cannot be effectively ensured; 2) the performance of these algorithms on large scale ELD optimization tasks remains to be unsatisfactory. CLPSO is an effective global optimization algorithm. To strengthen the convergence ability of CLPSO, the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) is introduced into it. This results in a new algorithm hybrid of comprehensive learning particle swarm optimization and sequential quadratic programming (SQP-CLPSO). To assess the performance of SQP-CLPSO, it is compared with several state-of-the-art evolutionary algorithms (EAs) on the classical ELD optimization problems. Experimental results show that SQP-CLPSO has very good abilities of convergence, diversity maintainence and scalability, which make it suitable for complex ELD problems.

Calcium Overload Is A Critical Step in Programmed Necrosis of ARPE-19 Cells Induced by High-Concentration H_2O_2

Objective Oxidative stress plays an important role in retinal pigmental epithelium （RPE） death during aging and the development of age-related macular *** early reports indicate that reactive oxygen species （ROS） including H2O2 can trigger apoptosis at lower concentrations and necrosis at higher concentrations,the exact molecular mechanism of RPE death is still *** purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular pathways involved in RPE death induced by exogenous ROS,especially at higher *** Cultured ARPE-19 cells were treated with H2O2 at different concentrations and cell viability was measured with the MTT *** death was morphologically studied by microscopy using APOPercentage assay and PI ***,the impact of oxidative stress on ARPE-19 cells was assessed by HO-1 and PARP-1 Western blotting and by the protection of antioxidant *** influx was determined using the fura-2 calcium indicator and the role of intracellular calcium overload in ARPE-19 cell death was evaluated following cobalt treatment to block calcium *** H2O2 reduced the viability of ARPE-19 cells in a concentration-dependent manner,which was presented as a typical s-shaped *** death caused by high concentrations of H2O2 was confirmed to be programmed ***,dying ARPE-19 cells were extremely swollen and lost the integrity of their plasma membrane,positively detected with APOPercentage assay and PI staining.24-hour treatment with 500 ？mol/L H2O2 induced remarkable up-regulation of HO-1 and PARP-1 in ARPE-19 ***,antioxidant treatment using EGCG effectively protected cells from H2O2-induced injury,increasing cell viability from 14.17%±2.31% to 85.77%±4.58%.After H2O2 treatment,intracellular calcium levels were highly elevated with a maximum concentration of ***,the calcium channel inhibitor cobalt was able to blunt this calcium influx and blocked the necrotic
