Transcriptional regulation of the neuronal nitric oxide synthase gene(nNOS)is particularlycomplex as 12 distinct transcripts derived from different first exons are expressed in a tissue- and cell-specific *** exon 1f mRNA is relatively highly expressed in nervous system and relies upon exon1f-specific promoter *** conventional and real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,we found exon 1f mRNA was the major transcript of the nNOS gene in human neuroblastoma *** analyzed a 1090 bp fragment of 1f promoter by TRANSFAC-TESS and Match softwares andluciferase assay,and found an important positive transcriptional regulation region that contained a putativenuclear factor(NF)-κB binding ***,using electrophoresis mobility shift and chromatinimmunoprecipitation assays,we identified this site to be the NF-κB responsive element,a crucial positiveregulator in the activation of the nNOS 1f *** together,our study identified an NF-κB responsiveelement within nNOS 1f promoter and showed that it plays an important role in the transactivation of nNOS1f mRNA,the major transcript of nNOS in SK-N-SH cells.

AIM:To study the relationship between ABO blood groups and carcinoma of esophagus and cardia in Chaoshan inhabitants of china, which is a unique littoral high-risk area of esophageal carcinoma in china. The poor communication and transportation in the past has made Chaoshan a relatively closed area and kept its culture and custure of old china thousand years ago. METHODS: Data on age, sex, ABO blood type and X-ray or pathological diagnose of the patients with carcinoma of esophagus or cardia were collected from the Tumor Hospital. First Affiliated Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital of shantou university Medical College; and the Central Hospital of shantou and the Central Hospital of Jieyang. A total of 6685 patients with esophageal carcinoma (EC) and 2955 patients with cardiac cancer (CC) in Chaoshan district were retrospectively assessed for their association with ABO blood groups. RESULTS: The distribution of ABO blood groups in patients with EC or CC was similar to the normal local population in Chaoshan. However, blood group B in male patients with CC and in the patients with carcinoma in the upper third esophagus was 2.3% and 4.7% higher than the corresponding controls. The relative risk B O was 1.1415 (P2696 (P<0.05), respectively. No relationship was found between ABO blood groups and tumor differentiation. CONCLUSION: ABO blood group B is associated with the incidence of CC in male individuals and carcinoma in the upper third esophagus. The distribution of ABO blood groups varies in the different geographical and ethnic groups. As a result, proper controls are very important for such studies.

Traditional image-sentence cross-modal retrieval methods usually aim to learn consistent representations of heterogeneous modalities,thereby to search similar instances in one modality according to the query from another modality in *** basic assumption behind these methods is that parallel multi-modal data(i.e.,different modalities of the same example are aligned)can be obtained in *** other words,the image-sentence cross-modal retrieval task is a supervised task with the alignments as ***,in many real-world applications,it is difficult to realign a large amount of parallel data for new scenarios due to the substantial labor costs,leading the non-parallel multi-modal data and existing methods cannot be used *** the other hand,there actually exists auxiliary parallel multi-modal data with similar semantics,which can assist the non-parallel data to learn the consistent ***,in this paper,we aim at“Alignment Efficient Image-Sentence Retrieval”(AEIR),which recurs to the auxiliary parallel image-sentence data as the source domain data,and takes the non-parallel data as the target domain *** single-modal transfer learning,AEIR learns consistent image-sentence cross-modal representations of target domain by transferring the alignments of existing parallel ***,AEIR learns the image-sentence consistent representations in source domain with parallel data,while transferring the alignment knowledge across domains by jointly optimizing a novel designed cross-domain cross-modal metric learning based constraint with intra-modal domain adversarial ***,we can effectively learn the consistent representations for target domain considering both the structure and semantic ***,extensive experiments on different transfer scenarios validate that AEIR can achieve better retrieval results comparing with the baselines.

Biorthogonal multiple wavelets are generated from refinable function vectors by using the multiresolution analysis. In this paper we provide a general method for the construction of compactly supported biorthogonal multiple wavelets by refinable function vectors which are the solutions of vector refinement equations of the form $$\varphi (x) = \sum\limits_{\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}^s } {a(\alpha )\varphi (Mx - \alpha ), x \in \mathbb{R}^s } ,$$ where the vector of functions ? = (? 1, …, ? r)T is in $(L_2 (\mathbb{R}^s ))^r ,a = :(a(\alpha ))_{\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}^s } $ is a finitely supported sequence of r × r matrices called the refinement mask, and M is an s × s integer matrix such that lim n→∞ M ?n = 0. Our characterizations are in the general setting and the main results of this paper are the real extensions of some known results.

The complex variable method for the plane elasticity theory of icosahedral quasicrystals is developed. Based on the general solution obtained previously, complex representations of stress and displacement components of phonon and phason fields in the quasicrystals are given. With the help of conformal transformation, an analytic solution for the elliptic notch problem of the material is presented. The solution of the Griffith crack problem can be observed as a special case of the results. The stress intensity factor and energy release rate of the crack are also obtained.

G protein-coupled receptor kinases(GRKs)mediate agonist-induced phosphorylation anddesensitization of various G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs).We investigate the role of GRK2 on epidermalgrowth factor(EGF)receptor signaling,including EGF-induced extracellular signal-regulated kinase andmitogen-activated protein kinase(ERK/MAPK)activation and EGFR *** immunofluorescence experiments show that EGF stimulates GRK2 binding to EGFR complex and GRK2translocating from cytoplasm to the plasma membrane in human embryonic kidney 293 *** assay shows that EGF-induced ERK/MAPK phosphorylation increases 1.9-fold,1.1-fold and 1.5-fold(P120 min,respectively when the cells were transfected with GRK2,suggesting the regulatory role of GRK2 on EGF-induced ERK/MAPK *** cytometry experimentsshow that GRK2 overexpression has no effect on EGF-induced EGFR internalization,however,it increasesagonist-induced G protein-coupled δ opioid receptor internalization by approximately 40% (P1).Overall,these data suggest that GRK2 has a regulatory role in EGF-induced ERK/MAPK activation,and that themechanisms underlying the modulatory role of GRK2 in EGFR and GPCR signaling pathways are somewhatdifferent at least in receptor internalization.

Two fundamental hypotheses of special relativistic gravitational theory are: (1) the equivalence of gravitational mass and inertial mass, (2) the equation of the gravitational tensor potential in linear approximation. Main results: (1) the values of the planetary perihelion shill, and the angle of deflection of light are the same as those of general relativity. The value of the red shill is consistent with the experiment. One cannot use these experimental values to judge whether space-time is curved. (2) In GP-B experiment, the gyroscope will be acted on by the additional gravitational fields due to the Earth's spin (S) and the orbital motion of satellite (L). The average precession rates are , where β and δ are the gyroscope's polar angles, (S) and (G) designate values deduced from special and general relativity, respectively. The GP-B experiment is the first one to judge whether space-time is flat.
