The Grid Search Algorithm of Tectonic Stress Tensor Based on Focal Mechanism Data and Its Application in the Boundary Zone of China, Vietnam and Laos

Stress field plays a key role in geodynamics. In this study, an algorithm to determine the stress tensor and its confidence range from focal mechanism data by using grid search method was proposed. The experiment uses artificial focal mechanism data which were generated by extensional, compression and strike-slip stress regime and different level of noise, shows that the precision of the estimated stress tensor based on this algorithm is greatly improved compared with traditional algorithms. This algorithm has three advantages：（1） The global optimal solution of the stress tensor is determined by fine grid search of 1o×1o×1o×0.01 and local minimum value is avoided; （2） precision of focal mechanism data can be considered, i.e., different weight of the focal mechanism data contributes differently to the process of determining stress tensor; （3） the confidence range of the determined stress tensor can be obtained by using F-test. We apply this algorithm in the boundary zone of China, Vietnam and Laos, and obtain the stress field with SSE-NNW compressive stress direction and NEE-SWW extensional stress direction. The stress ratio is 0.6, which shows that the eigen values of the stress tensor are nearly in arithmetic sequence. The stress field in this region is consistent with the left-lateral strike slip of the Dienbien-Lauangphrabang arc fault. The result will be helpful in studying the geological dynamic process in this region.

Electron beam (EB) curing of composites has many advantages. Heat-resistant EB-curing composites could substitute polyimide composites used in aeronautical engines. In this paper, the effects of catalyst and dose on the cured resin were investigated. The heat-resistance of the resin cured by EB was evaluated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The experimental results show that the mechanical properties of the composites cured by EB could meet the specifications of aeronautical engines at 250 degreesC.

Scurs is a horn phenotype that exhibits as small corneous structures on the skull due to the deformed development of horn tissues. Previous genome-wide association analysis of scurs in Soay sheep showed a significant association to the polled locus, relaxin-like receptor 2(RXFP2). However, the molecular mechanism underlying the development of scurs remains largely unknown. In the present study, we performed an i TRAQ-based quantitative proteomic analysis of horn tissues from both scurs and normal two-horned and four-horned individuals among Altay sheep to identify the differentially expressed proteins(DEPs) responsible for the scurs phenotype. In total, 232 proteins showed significant differential expression, and the most significant Gene ontology categories were the adhesion processes(biological adhesion(P=4.07×10–17) and cell adhesion(P=3.7×10–16)), multicellular organismal process(single-multicellular organism process(P=2.06×10–11) and multicellular organismal process(P=2.29×10–11)) and extracellular processes(extracellular matrix organization(P=4.77×10–16) and extracellular structure organization(P=4.93×10–16)). Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG) analysis showed that extracellular matrix(ECM)-receptor interactions and focal adhesion pathways were the most significant pathways. This finding is consistent with the reduced formation of extracellular matrix in scurs and the development of deformed horn tissues. Our study helps to elucidate the inheritance pattern of sheep horn traits from the perspectives of downstream expressed proteins.

Are quantum states real? This most fundamental question in quantum mechanics has not yet been satisfactorily resolved, although its realistic interpretation seems to have been rejected by various delayedchoice experiments. Here, to address this long-standing issue, we present a quantum twisted double-slit experiment. By exploiting the subluminal feature of twisted photons, the real nature of a photon during its time in flight is revealed for the first time. We found that photons' arrival times were inconsistent with the states obtained in measurements but agreed with the states during propagation. Our results demonstrate that wavefunctions describe the realistic existence and evolution of quantum entities rather than a pure mathematical abstraction providing a probability list of measurement outcomes. This finding clarifies the long-held misunderstanding of the role of wavefunctions and their collapse in the evolution of quantum entities.

AIM To establish an inducible liver injury mouse model and transplant human hepatocytes to obtain liverhumanized *** We crossed three mouse strains,including albumin(Alb)-cre transgenic mice,inducible diphtheria toxin receptor(DTR) transgenic mice and severe combined immune deficient(SCID)-beige mice,to create Alb-cre/DTR/SCID-beige(ADSB) mice,which coincidentally harbor Alb-cre and DTR transgenes and are immunodeficient. As the Cre expression is driven by the liver-specific promoter Alb(encoding ALB),the DTR stop signal flanked by two lox P sites can be deleted in the ADSB mice,resulting in DTR expression in the liver. ADSB mice aged 8-10 wk were injected intraperitoneally(i.p.) with diphtheria toxin(DT) and liver damage was assessed by serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT) level. Two days later,mouse livers were sampled for histological analysis,and human hepatocytes were transplanted into the livers on the same day. A human ALB enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed 7,14,21 and 28 d after transplantation. Human CD68 immunohistochemistry was performed 30 and 90 d after *** We crossed Alb-cre with DTR and SCID-beige mice to obtain ADSB mice. These mice were found to have liver damage 4 d after i.p. injection of 2.5 ng/g bodyweight DT. Bodyweight began to decrease on day 2,increased on day 7,and was lowest on day 4(range,10.5%-13.4%). Serum ALT activity began to increase on day 2 and reached a peak value of 289.7 ± 16.2 IU/m L on day 4,then returned to background values on day 7. After transplantation of human liver cells,peripheral blood human ALB level was 1580 ± 454.8 ng/m L(range,750.2-3064.9 ng/m L) after 28 d and Kupffer cells were present in the liver at 30 d in ADSB *** Human hepatocytes were successfully repopulated in the livers of ADSB mice. The inducible mouse model of humanized liver in ADSB mice may have functional applications,such as hepatocyte transplantation,hepatic regeneration and drug metabolism.

We investigate the effects of remote nitride-based plasma treatment on the channel carrier and device characteristics of AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors(HEMTs).A 200W NH3/N2 remote plasma causes little degeneration of carrier mobility and an increase in electron density due to surface alteration,which results in a decrease in sheet resistance and an increase in output current by 20–30%.Improved current slump,suppressed gate leakage current,and improved Schottky contact properties are also achieved by using low-damage nitride-based plasma *** is found that NH3/N2 remote plasma treatment is a promising technique for GaN-based HEMTs to modulate the surface conditions and channel properties.

AIM: To optimize the viral persistence rate in a hydrodynamic injection(HI) based hepatitis B virus(HBV) transfection mouse ***:(1) 5-6-wk-old male C3H/He N and C57BL/6 mice were hydrodynamically injected with 10 μg endotoxin-free p AAV/HBV1.2 plasmid DNA via the tail vein. Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag), hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag) and HBV DNA, both in the serum and liver, were detected at different time points post HI by EliSA, immunohistochemical staining or quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR);(2) male C3H/He N and C57BL/6 mice, either hydrodynamically injected mice at 10 wk post HI or na?ve mice, were all immunized subcutaneously with 5 μg HBs Ag formulated in complete Freund's adjuvant three times at a 2-wk interval. Two weeks after the final immunization, splenocytes were isolated for T cell function analysis by EliSPOT assay; and(3) five weeks post HI, C3H/He N mice were intragastrically administered 0.1 mg/kg entecavir once a day for 14 d, or were intraperitoneally injected with 1 mg/kg interferon(IFN)-α twice a week for 2 wk, or were treated with PBS as controls. The sera were collected and assayed for HBV DNA on days 0, 7 and 14 after drug treatment. RESULTS:(1) Approximately 90%(22/25) of the injected C3H/He N mice were still HBs Ag-positive at 46 wk post HI, whereas HBs Ag in C57BL/6 mice were completely cleared at 24 wk. Serum levels of HBe Ag in C3H/He N mice were higher than those in C57BL/6 mice from 4 wk to 46 wk. HBV DNA levels in the hydrodynamically injected C3H/He N mice were higher than those in the C57BL/6 mice, both in the serum(from 4 wk to 46 wk) and in the liver(detected at 8 wk and 46 wk post HI). Histology showed that hepatitis B core antigen and HBs Ag were expressed longer in the liver of C3H/He N mice than in C57BL/6;(2) HBs Ag specific T cell responses after HBs Ag vaccination in hydrodynamically injected C3H/He N and C57BL/6 mice, or naive control mice were detected by EliSPOT assay. The growth of dendrites and the side reactions occurring at the Zn anode pose significant challenges to the commercialization of aqueous Zn-ion batteries（AZIBs）. These challenges arise from the inherent conflict between mass transfer and electrochemical kinetics. In this study, we propose the use of a multifunctional electrolyte additive based on the xylose（Xylo） molecule to address these issues by modulating the solvation structure and electrode/electrolyte interface, thereby stabilizing the Zn anode. The introduction of the additive alters the solvation structure, creating steric hindrance that impedes charge transfer and then reduces electrochemical kinetics. Furthermore, in-situ analyses demonstrate that the reconstructed electrode/electrolyte interface facilitates stable and rapid Zn2+ion migration and suppresses corrosion and hydrogen evolution reactions. As a result, symmetric cells incorporating the Xylo additive exhibit significantly enhanced reversibility during the Zn plating/stripping process, with an impressively long lifespan of up to 1986 h, compared to cells using pure ZnSO4electrolyte. When combined with a polyaniline cathode, the full cells demonstrate improved capacity and long-term cyclic stability. This work offers an effective direction for improving the stability of Zn anode via electrolyte design, as well as highperformance AZIBs.
