The VAMP-associated protein VAP27-1 plays a crucial role in plant resistance to ER stress by modulating ER–PM contact architecture in Arabidopsis

The endoplasmic reticulum(ER)and the plasma membrane(PM)form ER–PM contact sites(EPCSs)that allow the ER and PM to exchange materials and ***-induced disruption of protein folding triggers ER stress,and the cell initiates the unfolded protein response(UPR)to resist the ***,whether EPCSs play a role in ER stress in plants remains ***-ASSOCIATED MEMBRANE PROTEIN(VAMP)-ASSOCIATED PROTEIN 27-1(VAP27-1)functions in EPCS tethering and is encoded by a family of 10 genes(VAP27-1–10)in Arabidopsis ***,we used CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome editing to obtain a homozygous vap27-1 vap27-3 vap27-4(vap27-1/3/4)triple mutant lacking three of the key VAP27 family members in *** vap27-1/3/4 mutant exhibits defects in ER–PM connectivity and EPCS architecture,as well as excessive UPR *** further showed that relocation of VAP27-1 to the PM mediates specific VAP27-1-related EPCS remodeling and expansion under ER ***,the spatiotemporal dynamics of VAP27-1 at the PM increase ER–PM connectivity and enhance Arabidopsis resistance to ER *** addition,we revealed an important role for intracellular calcium homeostasis in the regulation of UPR *** together,these results broaden our understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of ER stress and UPR signaling in plants,providing additional clues for improving plant broad-spectrum resistance to different stresses.

Sorely reducing emissions of non-methane short-lived climate forcers will worsen compound flood-heatwave extremes in the Northern Hemisphere

Non-methane short-lived climate forcer(SLCF)or near-term climate forcer(NTCF)emissions,as a significant driver of climate change,can be reduced to improve air *** reductions may contribute to additional warming of the climate system in the short term,thereby strongly affecting the likelihood of climate ***,there has been no quantitative assessment of the impact of non-methane SLCF mitigation on compound flood-heatwave extremes(CFHEs).This study quantitatively investigates the changes in future(2031-2050 versus 1995-2014)CFHEs and the resulting population exposure in the Northern Hemisphere(NH)due to non-methane SLCF *** used multi-model ensemble simulations under two future scenarios from the Aerosol and Chemistry Model Intercomparison Project(AerChemMIP)in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6).The two future scenarios share the same greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions but have weak(Shared Socioeconomic Pathway(SSP)3-7.0)versus strong(SSP3-7.0-lowNTCF)levels of air quality control *** results show that future non-methane SLCF reductions during 2031-2050 results in about a 7.3%±2.3%increase in grid exposure to CFHEs in the NH relative to the period *** frequency,intensity,and duration of CFHEs increase by varying *** the period 2031-2050,the frequency of CFHEs across the NH increases by 2.9±0.9 events per decade due to non-methane SLCF *** increases in CFHE frequency are more pronounced in East Asia,South Asia,Siberia,and northern and eastern North *** East and South Asia,the in-tensities of both heatwaves and floods corresponding to CFHEs increase markedly,where heatwave magnitude(HWM)increases by 0.3±0.2 K in East Asia and weighted average precipitation(WAP)increases by 18.3%±15.3%and 12.0%±4.5%in East Asia and South Asia,*** other regions,rising temperatures dominate the increase in *** regard to the duration of CFHEs,future reductions in non-methane SLC

The chirality structure of a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT)strongly depends on the composition of catalyst used in the chemical vapor deposition *** this study,we develop a porous magnesia supported manganese-rhenium(MnRe/MgO)catalyst for chirality-selective synthesis of *** characterizations reveal that(6,5)tubes with a selectivity higher than 70%are grown from the Re-rich MnRe/MgO *** comparing the SWNT growth results with those of monometallic Mn or Re,the formation of sigma phase,an intermetallic compound occurring in transition-metal alloy systems,is revealed to be crucial for the dominant synthesis of(6,5)*** work not only extends the application of sigma phase alloy for catalytic synthesis of SWNTs,but also sheds lights on the growth of SWNTs with a high chirality selectivity.

Two major challenges,high cost and short lifespan,have been hindering the commercialization process of lowtemperature fuel *** Wei's group has been focusing on decreasing cathode Pt loadings without losses of activity and durability,and their research advances in this area over the past three decades are briefly reviewed *** the Pt-based catalysts and the low Pt usage,they have firstly tried to clarify the degradation mechanism of Pt/C catalysts,and then demonstrated that the activity and stability could be improved by three strategies:regulating the nanostructures of the active sites,enhancing the effects of support materials,and optimizing structures of the three-phase *** Pt-free catalysts,especialiy carbon-based ones,several strategies that they proposed to enhance the activity of nitrogen-/heteroatom-doped carbon catalysts are firstly ***,an indepth understanding of the degradation mechanism for carbon-based catalysts is discussed,and followed by the corresponding stability enhancement ***,the carbon-based electrode at the micrometer-scale,faces the challenges such as low active-site density,thick catalytic layer,and the effect of hydrogen peroxide,which require rational structure design for the integral cathodic *** review finally gives a brief conclusion and outlook about the low cost and long lifespan of cathodic oxygen reduction catalysts.

Using biodegradable material derived from renewable resources as petroleum-based plastics replacement is a promising way towards sustainable ***,the insufficient mechanical properties and complex manufacturing process of bioplastics still need to be improved for high-quality food ***,we report a top-down strategy to transform natural wood into a clear wood packaging film through scalable delignification and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)*** wood packaging film demonstrates a laminated structure with completely collapsed cell walls and PVA intertwined together after energy-saving air drying,resulting in high light transmittance with low haze,good mechanical performance,and high barrier performance for oxygen and water *** dynamics simulations reveal the underlying fracture mechanism between cellulose and PVA,which effectively enhances the Young’s modulus and strength of the wood packaging *** findings contribute to the development of biodegradable and strong packaging materials,as well as other food-related applications,using sustainable wood.

目的:建立加味葛根颗粒的指纹图谱,测定其中6种成分的含量,并进行正交偏最小二乘判别法分析(OPLS-DA)。方法:采用HPLC法,色谱柱为Tech Mate-C18柱,流动相为乙腈-0.05%磷酸溶液(梯度洗脱),检测波长为254 nm,柱温为35℃,流速为1 mL·min^(-1)。采用《中药色谱指纹图谱相似度评价系统》2012年版进行相似度评价,确定共有峰,并测定其中6种成分的含量;采用SIMCA 14.0软件进行OPLS-DA分析,并利用分析变量重要性投影值(VIP)筛选影响其质量的标志物。结果:10批加味葛根颗粒共有14个共有峰,相似度均>0.9;共指认了6个色谱峰并分别测定了含量,各成分在考察范围内线性良好,r值在0.999 0~0.999 9之间。OPLS-DA筛选得到了6个VIP>1的共有峰(峰13、峰7、峰12、峰2、峰8、峰9),经对照品指认了其中3个差异性标志物(肉桂酸、原儿茶酸、芍药苷)。结论:结合多元统计分析,建立的指纹图谱和含量测定方法准确、稳定、可行,可用于加味葛根颗粒的质量控制。

Perovskite materials(ABO_(3))possess a wealth of elements selectable and exhibit a diverse range of octahedral *** emergence of high-entropy perovskite ceramics provides a fresh perspective for advancing the field of wave-absorbing *** this study,we concentrate on the wet chemical synthesis of a high-entropy perovskite oxide,Sr(Cr_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)Fe_(0.2)C_(0.2)Ni_(0.2))O_(3),and investigate its crystal structure,microstructure,chemical composition,magnetic properties,and microwave absorbing *** results indicate that when sintered at a temperature of 1,350℃,the sample achieves a minimum reflection loss of-54.0 dB at a frequency of 9.68 GHz,accompanied by a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 7.44 GHz at the thickness of 1.8 *** high-entropy design of the B-site induces distortions of oxygen vacancy and octahedral structure of the perovskite *** leads to the fine tuning of its dielectric and magnetic properties,thereby endowing perovskite with excellent electromagnetic wave absorption ***,perovskite emerges as a promising new electromagnetic wave absorption material with significant potential.

Molecular Chain Flexibility and Dielectric Loss at High-Frequency:Impact of Ester Bond Arrangement in Poly(ester imide)s

The evolution of high-frequency communication has accentuated the significance of controlling dielectric properties in polymer ***,it has been theorized that rigid molecular chains lead to lower dielectric ***,the validity of this proposition at high frequencies remains *** scrutinize the correlation between chain flexibility and dielectric properties,we synthesized six poly(ester imide)s(PEIs)with systematically varied molecular chain flexibilities by modifying the ester's substitution on the aromatic *** introduction of ester bonds bestowed all PEI films with a low dielectric dissipation factor(D_(f)),ranging from 0.0021 to 0.0038 at 10 GHz in dry *** dry D_(f)displayed a pattern consistent with volume polarizability(P/V).Unexpectedly,PI-mmm-T,featu ring the most flexible molecular chain,exhibited the lowest dielectric loss under both dry(0.0021@10 GHz)and hygroscopic(0.0029@10 GHz)***,the observed increase in D_(f)after humidity absorption suggests that the high dielectric loss of PEI in applications may be attributed to its hygroscopic *** simulations and characterization of the aggregation structure revealed that the smaller cavities within flexible molecular chains,after close stacking,impede the entry of water *** sacrificing high-temperature resistance,the precursor exhibited enhanced solubility properties and could be processed into high-quality *** research unveils new insights into the relationship between flexibility and highfrequency dielectric loss,offering innovative perspectives on synthesizing aromatic polymers with exceptional dielectric properties.
