Evaluation of the shear stability of aerobic granular sludge from a pilot-scale membrane bioreactor:Establishment of a quantitative method

This work established a quantitative method to access the shear stability of aerobic granular sludge(AGS)and validated its feasibility by using the mature AGS from a pilot-scale(50 tons/day)membrane bioreactor(MBR)for treating real municipal *** results showed that the changing rate( S)of the peak area(S)of granule size distribution(GSD)exhibited an exponential relationship(R^(2)≥0.76)with the shear time(y=a−b·cx),which was a suitable indicative index to reflect the shear stability of different AGS *** limiting granule size(LGS)was defined and proposed to characterize the equilibrium size for AGS after being sheared for a period of time,whose value in terms of Dv50 showed high correlation(R^(2)=0.92)with the parameter *** free Ca^(2+)(28.44-34.21 mg/L)in the influent specifically interacted with polysaccharides(PS)in the granule’s extracellular polymeric substance(EPS)as a nucleation site,thereby inducing the formation of Ca precipitation to enhance its Young’s modulus,while Ca2+primarily interacted with PS in soluble metabolic product(SMP)during the initial granulation ***,the Young’s modulus significantly affected the parameter a related to shear stability(R^(2)=0.99).Since the parameter a was more closely related(R^(2)=1.00)to S than that of the parameter b or c,the excellent correlation(R^(2)=0.99)between the parameter a and the wet density further verified the feasibility of this method.

A fully mesh-independent non-linear topology optimization framework based on neural representations:Quasi-static problem

In artificial intelligence(AI) for science, the AI-empowered topology optimization methods have garnered sustained attention from researchers and achieved significant development. In this paper, we introduce the implicit neural representation(INR) from AI and the material point method(MPM) from the field of computational mechanics into topology optimization, resulting in a novel differentiable and fully mesh-independent topology optimization framework named MI-TONR, and it is then applied to nonlinear topology optimization(NTO) design. Within MI-TONR, the INR is combined with the topology description function to construct the design model, while implicit MPM is employed for physical response analysis. A skillful integration is achieved between the design model based on the continuous implicit representation field and the analysis model based on the Lagrangian particles. Along with updating parameters of the neural network(i.e., design variables), the structural topologies iteratively evolve according to the responses analysis results and optimization functions. The computational differentiability is ensured at every step of MI-TONR, enabling sensitivity analysis using automatic differentiation. In addition, we introduce the augmented Lagrangian Method to handle multiple constraints in topology optimization and adopt a learning rate adaptive adjustment scheme to enhance the robustness of the optimization process. Numerical examples demonstrate that MI-TONR can effectively conduct NTO design under large loads without any numerical techniques to mitigate numerical instabilities. Meanwhile, its natural satisfaction with the no-penetration condition facilitates the NTO design of considering contact. The infinite spatial resolution characteristic facilitates the generation of structural topology at multiple resolutions with clear and continuous boundaries.

Intergenerational differences and influencing factors of farmers' terrace abandonment behavior:Based on a questionnaire survey of 2382 rural households in China

This study explores the impact of intergenerational differences on farmers' terrace abandonment in response to increasing intergenerational differentiation among rural households and the practical issue of terrace abandonment. Logit and Tobit models are employed to conduct empirical analysis and it is found that terrace abandonment increases sequentially among the new, middle, and old generations, confirming that intergenerational differences significantly influence whether farmers abandon terraces and the terrace abandonment scale. Village characteristics and government subsidies significantly influence farmers' terrace abandonment. An increase in the number of migrant workers in the village increases terrace abandonment among new and middle generation farmers, whereas an increase in the distance from the village to the county significantly increases terrace abandonment among old generation farmers. An increase in the village's total population significantly reduces terrace abandonment among new generation farmers. An increase in government subsidies significantly reduces terrace abandonment among middle and old generation farmers. The impact of intergenerational differences on terrace abandonment is more pronounced in low-altitude areas. To reduce terrace abandonment, it is necessary to promote terrace transfer, develop characteristic agriculture, improve terrace farming subsidies, and propose targeted strategies for the different generations of farmers.

Dryopteridaceae are the largest fern family and include nearly 20%of extant fern diversity,with 24 currently recognized *** and delineation of genera within this family have varied *** three-subfamily classification of Dryopteridaceae was based primarily on molecular phylogenetic relationships but lacked morphological evidence,and the phylogenetic relationships of the subfamilies and genera of Dryopteridaceae are only partially resolved.A comprehensive and robust phylogeny is urgently *** heterogeneous morphology of the current members of Dryopteridaceae makes the family and its subfamilies difficult to define by single morphological characteristics or even character *** carried out phylogenetic analyses to reconstruct a highly supported phylogeny of *** analyses recovered 24 strongly supported clades grouped into seven major clades of *** morphological characters including habit,rhizome shape,frond morphology,rachis-costae architecture,appendages on stipe base and lamina,and soral arrangement were found to be informative for identifying different major clades and clades in *** on phylogenetic reconstruction and morphological analysis,we presented an updated infra-familial classification of Dryopteridaceae with seven subfamilies and 24 genera including four newly proposed subfamilies(Ctenitidoideae,Lastreopsidoideae,Pleocnemioideae,and Polystichopsidoideae).Morphological character combinations of each subfamily are summarized,and a key is *** genera sensu PPG I are recognized,with Stigmatopetris reclassified into Dryopteridoideae and Arthrobotrya considered a synonym of Teratophyllum.A new genus Pseudarachniodes is *** revised classification will serve as a foundational framework for future investigations on taxonomy,biogeography,and diversification of the most species-rich Dryopteridaceae in ferns.

A binary eutectic electrolyte design for high-temperature interface-compatible Zn-ion batteries

The deterioration of aqueous zinc-ion batteries（AZIBs） is confronted with challenges such as unregulated Zn2+diffusion,dendrite growth and severe decay in battery performance under harsh ***,a design concept of eutectic electrolyte is presented by mixing long chain polymer molecules,polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether（PEGDME）,with H2O based on zinc trifluoromethyl sulfonate(Zn（OTf）2),to reconstruct the Zn2+solvated structure and in situ modified the adsorption layer on Zn electrode *** dynamics simulations（MD）,density functional theory（DFT） calculations were combined with experiment to prove that the long-chain polymer-PEGDME could effectively reduce side reactions,change the solvation structure of the electrolyte and priority absorbed on Zn（002）,achieving a stable dendrite-free Zn *** to the comprehensive regulation of solvation structure and zinc deposition by PEGDME,it can stably cycle for over 3200 h at room temperature at 0.5 mA/cm2and 0.5 mAh/*** at high-temperature environments of 60℃,it can steadily work for more than 800 cycles（1600 h）.Improved cyclic stability and rate performance of aqueous Zn‖VO2batteries in modified electrolyte were also achieved at both room and high *** that,the demonstration of stable and high-capacity Zn‖VO2pouch cells also implies its practical application.

高精度惯性导航系统对由温度引起的光纤陀螺标度因数变化指标提出了很高的要求。采用温度补偿技术是一种提升标度因数性能的有效方法,其中建立精确且普适的温度模型是关键。提出并分析了光纤陀螺温度与标度因数模型的迟滞现象。通过分析和试验表明,标度因数模型的迟滞现象是由光纤陀螺结构的热不均匀性造成的,采用多温度点采样来修正标度因数模型的方法可以有效避免模型的迟滞现象,提升标度因数模型的补偿效果,使光纤陀螺可以适应各种温度变化的环境。在-40℃^+60℃范围内同时对光纤环圈和光源的温度进行采集,并利用光源温度与平均波长的关系来修正标度因数模型,通过模型修正可以将光纤陀螺全温标度因数稳定性指标由常规模型下的36×10^(–6)提升到12×10^(–6)。

Influence of the mineralogy of fines on sediment slurrying and slurry behaviors

Fine debris is an important component of natural debris *** studies focused primarily on the clay minerals found in the fines,and non-clay minerals were often *** effects of mineralogy of fines on debris-mass slurrying and flow behaviors of the resultant slurries are examined *** fines(≤0.04 mm)in thelid concentration limits of slurrying(with a maximum of 0.692)and peak values of relative excess water pressure(measured maximum mean peak value is 0.99),leading to higher momentum and higher competence,and thereby more destructive *** sediments with platy non-clay mineral-dominated fines have potential for mobilizing into small-to medium-size debris flows with a relatively small *** minerals in the fines may indeed enhance the liquefaction potential of debris masses by expanding the difference between upper and lower solid concentration limits of slurrying(0.413 and 0.238,respectively,for pure kaolinite),but they significantly suppress the momentum,competence,and destructive power of potential debris flows by lowering upper solid concentration limit of slurrying of debris *** catchments rich in non-clay minerals,notably those releasing dolomite into loose sediments,may be more prone to threatening and destructive debris *** basin producing clay minerals should be more susceptible to lowmagnitude/high-frequency debris flows

为研究聚乙二醇(PEG)粘合剂的老化机理,基于密度泛函理论(DFT)的B3LYP方法和小曲率隧道效应校正的正则变分过渡态理论(CVT/SCT),对PEG单分子以及NO_2分子存在下PEG分子老化反应类型进行了分子模拟与计算。结果表明,PEG单分子反应条件下存在C—O断键反应和H原子转移反应两种降解断裂。C(2)—O(2)化学键断裂的键离解能较O(1)—C(1)、C(1)—C(2)化学键小,为PEG单分子断键反应的引发点。H原子转移反应为与C(1)相连的H原子逐渐向O(2)转移的过程,反应所需吸收热量为29.19kJ·mol-1。NO_2分子参与下,PEG分子存在降解断裂反应、硝化反应和环化反应三种老化模式,且所需的活化能均小于PEG单分子老化反应。聚合度为2、4、6、8、10的PEG分子各老化反应所需的键离解能或活化能变化范围小于3kJ·mol-1,证明聚合度对反应影响不大。在20~60℃贮存温度下,NO_2分子参与下的降解断裂反应和环化反应速率常数为H原子转移反应的103~1028倍。得到了NO_2分子存在下PEG分子的基本老化规律,认为NO_2分子参与下的PEG硝化反应、环化反应和降解断裂反应为主要老化模式,H原子转移反应为次老化模式,而C—O断键反应发生最为困难。
