Background Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)is the leading global cause of respiratory infections and is responsible for about 3 million hospitalizations and more than 100,000 deaths annually in children younger than 5 years,representing a major global healthcare *** is a great unmet need for new agents and universal strategies to prevent RSV infections in early life.A multidisciplinary consensus development group comprising experts in epidemiology,infectious diseases,respiratory medicine,and methodology aims to develop the current consensus to address clinical issues of RSV infections in *** sources The evidence searches and reviews were conducted using electronic databases,including PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane library,using variations in terms for"respiratory syncytial virus","RSV","lower respiratory tract infection","bronchiolitis","acute","viral pneumonia","neonatal","infant""children",and"pediatric".Results Evidence-based recommendations regarding diagnosis,treatment,and prevention were proposed with a high degree of *** supportive care remains the cornerstone for the management of RSV infections,new monoclonal antibodies,vaccines,drug therapies,and viral surveillance techniques are being rolled *** This consensus,based on international and national scientific evidence,reinforces the current recommendations and integrates the recent advances for optimal care and prevention of RSV *** improvements in the management of RSV infections will require generating the highest quality of evidence through rigorously designed studies that possess little bias and sufficient capacity to identify clinically meaningful end points.

Induction of systemic lupus erythematosus syndrome in BALB/c mice by immunization with active chromatin

AIM: To establish an animal model for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)-like syndrome in mice. METHODS: BALB/c mice were immunized with active chromatin isolated from ConA-actived syngeneic spleno-lymphocytes. Plasma samples of mice were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (EliSA) for the presence of IgG anti-dsDNA, -ssDNA, and anti-histone antibodies. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum was measured by EliSA. Spleno-lymphocyte proliferation assays and the levels of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) in supernatants were tested respectively. Proteinuria was measured. Kidneys were examined by direct immunohistochemical method and light microscopy. RESULTS: Anti-ds DNA, ssDNA, and histone antibodies were induced in active chromatin-immu- nized mice, the proliferation response of splenocytes to ConA and LPS were reduced, levels of interferon-γ in supernatants and TNF-α in serum were lowered. Lupus nephritis was assessed by the presence of Ig deposits, glomerular pathology and proteinuria. CONCLUSION: The active chromatin-induced SLE-like mouse model was similar to idiopathic SLE in human.

BACKGROUND Acute-on-chronic liver disease(AoCLD)accounts for the majority of patients hospitalized in the department of Hepatology or Infectious *** To explore the characterization of AoCLD to provide theoretical guidance for the accurate diagnosis and prognosis of *** Patients with AoCLD from the Chinese Acute-on-Chronic liver Failure(ACLF)study cohort were included in this *** clinical characteristics and outcomes,and the 90-d survival rate associated with each clinical type of AoCLD were analyzed,using the Kaplan-Meier method and the log-rank *** A total of 3375 patients with AoCLD were enrolled,including 1679(49.7%)patients with liver cirrhosis acute decompensation(LC-AD),850(25.2%)patients with ACLF,577(17.1%)patients with chronic hepatitis acute exacer-bation(CHAE),and 269(8.0%)patients with liver cirrhosis active phase(LC-A).The most common cause of chronic liver disease(CLD)was HBV infection(71.4%).The most common precipitants of AoCLD was bacterial infection(22.8%).The 90-d mortality rates of each clinical subtype of AoCLD were 43.4%(232/535)for type-C ACLF,36.0%(36/100)for type-B ACLF,27.0%(58/215)for type-A ACLF,9.0%(151/1679)for LC-AD,3.0%(8/269)for LC-A,and 1.2%(7/577)for *** HBV infection is the main cause of CLD,and bacterial infection is the main precipitant of *** most common clinical type of AoCLD is *** diagnosis and timely intervention are needed to reduce the mortality of patients with LC-AD or ACLF.

Catalytic properties of tungsten oxycarbide and carbide in hydrocarbon conversion

Tungsten oxycarbide with specific surface area 24 m^2/g was prepared from white tungstic acid by reduction and carburization with CO and H_*** and EXAFS measurements confirmed that the WOC obtained has a simple hexagonal structure isotypic with α-WC and the oxygen is inserted into the trigonal prismatic interstices of the crystal *** reactions of n- hexane,n-heptane and cyclohexane on WOC were studied and compared with WC prepared by direct synthesis at high temperature,WOC and WC are active for the hydrogenolysis,isomerization and dehydrocyclization of alkanes and dehydrogenation of cyclohexane and their catalytic properties are in many ways similar to Pt *** insertion inhibits the catalytic activities of tung- ten carbide for hydrocarbon conversion reactions probably due to electronic effect.
