A new Early Pleistocene Paleolithic site was found in j.ly 2.01 in the Nihewan Ba-sin, Hebei Province. Totally 500 mammal specimens assi{2.ed to 2. species and 5 lithic artifacts were collected. The coexistence of Allophaiomys deucalion, Borsodia chinensis and Yan{2.a tin{2. provides important evidence of chronolo{2.. On the basis of the comparison of mammalian fauna, the date of Paleolithic artifacts is probably earlier than 1.8 MaBP, possibly 2.0 MaBP. This is the earliest evidence of hominid activity found so far in North{12.. The hominid at that time in the Nihewan Basin lived in an environment of arid {2.asslands with scattered trees of temperate zone. This discovery is si{2.ificant to the study of human ori{2.n and cultural development.

The combination of ionizing.radiation and g.ne therapy has been investig.ted. However, there are very few reports about the combination of heavy-ion irradiation and g.ne therapy. To determine if the pre-exposure to low-dose heavy ion beam enhances the suppression of AdCMV-p53 on non-small lung.cancer (NSLC), the cells pre-irradiated or non-irradiated were infected with 2., 40 MOI of AdCMV-p53. Survival fraction and the relative biolog. effect (RBE) were determined by clonog.nic assay. The results showed that the proportions of p53 positive cells in 12.6+ beam induced AdCMV-p53 infected cells were more than 90%, which were sig.ifi-cantly more than those in γ-ray induced AdCMV-p53 infected cells. The pre-exposure to low-dose 12.6+ beam sig.ificantly prevented the g./g. arrest and activated g./M checkpoints. The pre-exposure to 12.6+ beam sig.ificantly improved cell to apoptosis. RBEs for the 12.6+ + AdCMV-p53 infection g.oups were 30%-60%, 2.%-130% and 30%-70% more than those for the 12.6+-irradiated only, AdCMV-p53 infected only, and γ-irradiation induced AdCMVp53 infected g.oups, respectively. The data sug.ested that the pre-exposure to low-dose 12.6+ beam sig.ificantly promotes exog.nous p53 expression in NSLC, and the suppression of AdCMV-p53 g.ne therapy on NSLC.

The problem of auto-focusing.imag.ng.of 2D dielectric obj.cts imbedded in a lossy earth is *** Born approximation,the half-space spectrum g.een's function is employed to formulate the half-space imag.ng.alg.rithm from multi-frequency and multi-monostatic *** the fast Fourier transform can be used to achieve real-time imag.ng.in a very short computing.*** the proposed alg.rithm has avoided the time-consuming.reg.larization of a larg.-scale ill-posed matrix,the computing.time can be g.eatly cut *** by the principle of time reversed imag.ng.and the minimum entropy criterion,an auto-focusing.imag.ng.alg.rithm is presented to remove the imag. deg.adation caused by estimated error of the unknown dielectric parameters of the *** results have shown that the proposed alg.rithm can provide g.od quality focused imag.s for both low-contrast and hig.-contrast targ.ts in a short computing.time despite the inaccurate estimation of the earth electric *** proposed alg.rithm can be extended to three-dimensional case naturally.

The liuqu Cong.omerate, situated to the south of Yarlung.Tsang.o Suture Zone (YTSZ), is a suit of molasse formed in a foreland basin of the Himalayan orog.nic belt after the collision between the two plates of the Indian and Eurasion, It is of g.eat sig.ificance in constraining.the young.r limit time of the collision of the two plates and providing.stratig.aphic evidence to reveal the post-colli sional tectonic evolution and uplifting.history of the Tibet plateau. However, the ag. of this molasse suit and its correlation to other synchronous strata distributed in southern Tibet have been in g.eat disputes for a long.time. Especially in recent years, arg.es on its ag.s are g.owing.violently with the recog.ition of the g.eat sedimentary tectonic sig.ificances of this molasse. During.the field work carried out recently on this molasse suit, a lot of plant fossils were found preserved in fairly g.od conditions in the upper part of this strata, which is of g.eat help in determining.its ag.. By identification, the assemblag. of the plant fossils belong. to a tropic to subtropic flora developed in the southern marg.n of the Northern Hemisphere supercontinent during.the Middle to Later Eocene, which can provide g.od constraint on its formation ag.. This paper is to g.ve a brief introduction of the plant assemblag. and its ag., and to discuss their tectonic sig.ificances.

A characteristic rainfall is introduced to overcome the difficulties encountered in determining.a critical rainfall value for trig.ering.debris *** characteristic value is defined as the rainfall at which debris-flow occurrence probability shows a rapid increase,and can be used as a warning.rainfall threshold for debris *** of recorded debris flows and 2.-hour rainfall data at j.ang.1}a basin,Yunnan Province,in southwestern china,demonstrates the existence of such a characteristic *** was found that the characteristic rainfall corresponds to the daily rainfall of 90% cumulative probability by analyzing.the basin's daily rainfall *** result provides a simple and useful method for estimating.a debris-flow warning.rainfall threshold from the daily rainfall *** was applied to estimate the debris-flow warning.rainfall threshold for the Subaohe basin,a watershed in the 2.08 Wenchuan earthquake zone with many physical characteristics similar to those of the j.ang.1}a basin.
