Crustal structure of g.ndwana-and Yang.ze-typed blocks:An example by wide-ang.e seismic profile from Meng.0} to Malong.in western Yunnan

The wide-ang.e seismic profile between Meng.0} and Malong.crosses the Baoshan block (g.ndwana-typed), and Simao and southwestern Yang.ze blocks (Yang.ze-typed). By in-terpreting.the wide-ang.e seismic data, we obtained the seismic crust/upper mantle structure of P-wave velocities tog.ther with the seismic reflections of these three blocks, Chang.ing. Meng.0} and Mo{12.ang.suture zones among.the mentioned three blocks. Our interpreting.results demonstrate that the P-wave crustal velocity of Simao block is slower than that of Baoshan and southwestern Yang.ze block and the crustal thickness g.adually thickens from the Baoshan block, Simao to southwestern Yang.ze block. Crustal reflection patterns of these three blocks have dis-tinct differences too. For the g.ndwana-typed blocks, seismic reflections in the upper crust are well developed while in middle-lower crust they are very weak. The crustal reflections in the Yang.ze block are very well developed. The crustal reflection patterns in Simao and southwest-ern Yang.ze blocks are disting.ishable. The averag. thickness of the crust in the studied area is about 40 km. And we make some discussions on the crustal thickening.model of the three blocks in western Yunnan and tectonic setting.of seismic developing.and interaction of g.ndwana and Yang.ze blocks.

Fiducial inference in the pivotal family of distributions

In this paper a family, called the pivotal family, of distributions is considered.A pivotal family is determined by a g.neralized pivotal model. Analytical results show that a g.eat many parametric families of distributions are pivotal. In a pivotal family of distributions a g.neral method of deriving.fiducial distributions of parameters is proposed. In the method a fiducial model plays an important role. A fiducial model is a function of a random variable with a known distribution, called the pivotal random element, when the observation of a statistic is *** method of this paper includes some other methods of deriving.fiducial distributions. Specially the first fiducial distribution g.ven by Fisher can be derived by the method. For the monotone likelihood ratio family of distributions, which is a pivotal family, the fiducial distributions have a frequentist property in the Neyman-Pearson view. Fiducial distributions of reg.lar parametric functions also have the above frequentist property. Some advantag.s of the fiducial inference are exhibited in four applications of the fiducial distribution. Many examples are g.ven, in which the fiducial distributions cannot be derived by the existing.methods.

Streng.hening.of the boreal winter Hadley circulation and its connection with ENSO

Empirical orthog.nal function (EOF) analysis is carried out for the year-to-year variability of the boreal winter (D{2.) mass stream function of the mean meridional circulation (MMC) during.the period 1948—2.05. The results demonstrate that it is dominated by the equatorially asymmetric and symmetric modes. Further analysis shows that the former mode is linked with the boreal winter Hadley cell mainly on the decadal time-scale, and the latter on the interannual time-scale. The asymmetric mode index (AMI) with a clear upward trend contributes to the decadal streng.hening.of the boreal Hadley circulation, and is closely correlated with the tropical SST warming. especially in the reg.on of Indo-west Pacific warm pool (INWP). Furthermore, the AMI also contributes to the abrupt chang. of the correlation coefficient between the boreal Hadley circulation and ENSO after 1976. The symmetric mode index (SMI) with robust and stable linkag. with ENSO shows a sig.ificant interannual variability, sug.esting.that the variability of the Hadley circulation is mainly associated with ENSO on the interannual time-scale.

In situ hig.-pressure energ. dispersive X-ray diffraction measurements on polycrystal{2.ne powder Ca-CuO2.with an infinite layer structure (IL CaCuO2. have been performed by using.diamond anvil cell (DAC) instrument with synchrotron radiation. The results sug.est that the crystal structure of IL CaCuO2.is stable under pressure up to 30 g.a at room temperature. According.to Birch-Murn- ag.an equation of state, assuming.pressure derivative 4,=0Bthe bulk modulus B0=181 ?9 g.a is obtained.

The estimation of above-g.ound biomass(Ag.) and carbon storag. is very important for arid and semi-arid ***-1A/B satellite data combined with field measurement data was used for the estimation of shrub Ag. and carbon storag. in the Mu Us desert,*** correlations of shrub Ag. and spectral reflectance of four bands as well as their combined veg.tation indexes were respectively analyzed and stepwise reg.ession analysis was employed to establish Ag. prediction *** prediction equation based on ratio veg.tation index(RVI)was proved to be more suitable for shrub Ag. estimation in the Mu Us desert than *** Ag. and carbon storag. were mapped using.the RVI based prediction model in *** statistics showed the western Mu Us desert has relatively hig. Ag. and carbon storag.,and that the g.oss shrub carton storag. in Mu Us desert reaches 16 799 200 t,which has g.eatly contributed to the carbon fixation in northern china.

Using.a small quantity of DNA molecules and little experimental time to solve complex problems successfully is a g.al of DNA computing. Some NP-hard problems have been solved by DNA computing.with lower time complexity than conventional computing. However, this advantag. often bring. hig.er space complexity and needs a larg. number of DNA encoding.molecules. One example is g.aph coloring.problem. Current DNA alg.rithms need exponentially increasing.DNA encoding.strands with the g.owing.of problem size. Here we propose a new DNA alg.rithm of g.aph coloring.problem based on the proof of four-color theorem. This alg.rithm has g.od properties of needing.a relatively small number of operations in polynomial time and needing.a small number of DNA encoding.molecules (we need only 6R DNA encoding.molecules if the number of reg.ons in a g.aph is R).

Authenticated g.oup key exchang. protocols allow a g.oup of users over a public network to establish a shared secret key for the subsequent cryptog.aphic g.als. In this paper, we extend BD-II scheme into a dynamic setting. and propose a tree-based authenticated key exchang. protocol which is more suitable for dynamic g.oups in such as ad hoc networks. Our protocol is proven secure in random-oracle model. Additionally, we analyze the costs of our protocols in both communication and computation terms, and compare its performance with three well-known protocols.
