Bacillus subtilis B47 is an endophytic bacterium of tomato, and produces substance that strongly inhibits the growth of Bipolaris maydis, the pathogen of southern corn leaf blight （SCLB）, as well as several other phytopathogenic fungi. The antifungal substance was purified from the broth culture of the bacterium using acid precipitation, methanol extraction, and three-step chromatography. Based on FT-IR spectrometry, amino acid composition, and MALDI-TOF-MS/MS CID analyses, the antifungal substance was identified as iturin A2, a cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic. To evaluate the efficacy of iturin A2 for control of SCLB, partially purified iturin A2 （75%, w/v） was applied under different conditions. At the concentration of 300 mg kg-1, iturin A2 showed efficacy ranging from 100 to 53.1% under in vitro, in plot and in field conditions. This efficacy was higher than or similar to that of the fungicide chlorothalonil. When the concentration of iturin A2 was increased to 500 mg kg-1, the control efficacy was enhanced to 64.2% in field, which was significantly higher than that of chlorothalonil. These results indicate that iturin A2 has potential for SCLB control and could be a substitute to synthetic fungicides. To our knowledge, this is the first report on using partially purified iturin A for control of SCLB under field conditions.

Decreasing of layer thickness causes the decrease of polarization until it disappears due to the existence of depolarization ***,the search for strong piezoelectric materials is highly desirable for multifunctional ultra-thin piezoelectric ***,we propose a common strategy for achieving strong piezoelectric materials through the electronic asymmetry induced by the intrinsically asymmetric atomic character of different chalcogen ***,in the tetrahedral lattice structures,for example,M4X3Y3(M=Pd/Ni,X/Y=S,Se or Te,X≠Y)monolayers are proved to display excellent out-of-plane ***4Se3Te3 possesses the largest piezoelectric coefficient d33 of 61.57 pm/V,which is much larger than that of most 2D *** the electronic asymmetry further increases the out-of-plane piezoelectricity of Janus M4X3Y3 ***,the out-of-plane piezoelectricity is positively correlated with the ratio of electronegativity difference(Red)and the electric dipole moment(P).This work provides alternative materials for energy harvesting nano-devices or self-energized wearable devices,and supplies a valuable guideline for predicting 2D materials with strong out-of-plane piezoelectricity.

Objective: To determine whether monotropein has an anticancer effect and explore its potential mechanisms against colorectal cancer(CRC) through network pharmacology and molecular docking combined with experimental verification. Methods: Network pharmacology and molecular docking were used to predict potential targets of monotropein against CRC. Cell counting kit assay, plate monoclonal assay and microscopic observation were used to investigate the antiproliferative effects of monotropein on CRC cells HCT116, HT29 and LoVo. Flow cytometry and scratch assay were used to analyze apoptosis and cell cycle, as well as cell migration, respectively in HCT116, HT29, and LoVo cells. Western blotting was used to detect the expression of proteins related to apoptosis, cell cycle, and cell migration, and the expression of proteins key to the Akt pathway. Results: The Gene Ontology and Reactome enrichment analyses indicated that the anticancer potential of monotropein against CRC might be involved in multiple cancer-related signaling pathways. Among these pathways, RAC-beta serine/threonine-protein kinase(Akt1, Akt2), cyclin-dependent kinase 6(CDK6), matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP9), epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR), cell division control protein 42 homolog(CDC42) were shown as the potential anticancer targets of monotropein against CRC. Molecular docking suggested that monotropein may interact with the 6 targets(Akt1, Akt2, CDK6, MMP9, EGFR, CDC42). Subsequently, cell activity of HCT116, HT29 and LoVo cell lines were significantly suppressed by monotropein(PlinD1, CDK4 and CDK6, inhibited cell migration by suppressing the expressions of CDC42 and MMP9(Pling pathway. Corrosion behavior of bulk metallic glasses in different aqueous solutions

The corrosion behavior of as-cast fully amorphous, structural relaxed amorphous and crystallized Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) in NaCl, HCl and NaOH solutions was investigated by electrochemical polarization and immersion methods. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements was used to analyze the changes of the elements on the alloy surface before and after immersion in various solutions. The corrosion resistance of the Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 BMG was better than its structural relaxation/crystallization counterparts and common alloys (such as stainless steel, carbonized steel, and steel) in the selected aqueous solutions. The high corrosion resistance of this alloy in corrosive solutions leads to the formation of Fe-, Cr- and Mo-enriched protective thin surface films.

Purification of Two Antimicrobial Substances Produced by Bacillus subtilis Strain B11 and Their Properties

Two antimicrobial substances produced by Bacillus subtilis strain B 11 were purified by boiling, DEAE 52 anion exchange chromatography and aluminum oxide adsorption chromatography, These purified substances showed only one spot on silica gel thin layer chromatography （TLC）. Antimicrobial assays showed that antimicrobial substances A and B inhibited the growth of plant pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum Schl ***. niveum, Rhizoctonia solani, Ralstonia solanacearum and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. In addition, antimicrobial substance B could also inhibit the growth of Magnaporthe grisea. These two antimicrobial substances were resistant to proteolytic enzymes and temperature as high as 121℃.

Enantioenriched pyrrolidines and derivatives are ubiquitous substructures in compounds of importance to medicinal and biological ***,we report an efficient cobalt-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric hydroamination reaction that produces chiral pyrrolidines with good to excellent yield and *** with previously reported radicalinvolved methodologies for enantioenriched pyrrolidines,these conditions feature two elegant versatilities,enabling(1)the use of cobalt-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer(HAT)to generate organocobalt intermediates that bring radical reaction to organometallic chemistry,and(2)enantioselective intramolecular C-N bond forging through an S_(N)2-like displacement involving dynamic kinetic resolution(DKR).This approach provides a new alternative and efficient methodology for enantioselective radical-involved C-N bond construction that can be used in the synthesis of both chiral pyrrolidines and homologous nitrogen heterocycles.

The treatment of chronic and non-healing wounds in diabetic patients remains a major medical *** reports have shown that hydrogel wound dressings might be an effective strategy for treating diabetic wounds due to their excellent hydrophilicity,good drug-loading ability and sustained drug release *** a typical example,hyaluronic acid dressing(Healoderm)has been demonstrated in clinical trials to improve wound-healing efficiency and healing rates for diabetic foot ***,the drug release and degradation behavior of clinically-used hydrogel wound dressings cannot be adjusted according to the wound *** to the intricacy of diabetic wounds,antibiotics and other medications are frequently combined with hydrogel dressings in clinical practice,although these medications are easily hindered by the hostile *** this case,scientists have created responsive-hydrogel dressings based on the microenvironment features of diabetic wounds(such as high glucose and low pH)or combined with external stimuli(such as light or magnetic field)to achieve controllable drug release,gel degradation,and microenvironment improvements in order to overcome these clinical *** responsive-hydrogel dressings are anticipated to play a significant role in diabetic therapeutic wound ***,we review recent advances on responsive-hydrogel dressings towards diabetic wound healing,with focus on hydrogel structure design,the principle of responsiveness,and the behavior of *** but not least,the advantages and limitations of these responsive-hydrogels in clinical applications will also be *** hope that this review will contribute to furthering progress on hydrogels as an improved dressing for diabetic wound healing and practical clinical application.

While the spatial distribution pattern of fish is increasingly used for toxicological test o chemicals or wastewater,no ideal parameter is available for quantitative assessment of spa tial distribution,especially uneven distribution with multiple ***,to develop a quantitative assessment parameter for spatial distribution,the zebrafish were exposed to ethanol,pentylenetetrazole(PTZ),paraquat dichloride(paraquat)and wastewater,followed by a behavioral test in a narrow *** data was acquired and analyzed by id Tracker and *** comparing the effects of all treatments on behavior parameters we confirmed that the spatial distribution was more easily altered rather than general loco motor parameters,e.g.0.7-70 mg/L PTZ and 5-20 mg/L paraquat being effective for altering spatial distribution but having little effects on general locomotor *** on the heatmap,i.e.,the cumulative proportion of grids and that of frequency in grids,we calcu lated the behavioral Gini coefficient(G_(b))for quantitative assessment of fish spatial distri *** Gini coefficient ranged from zero to 1,with larger values meaning poorer even ness of spatial *** note,G_(b)showed smaller coefficient of variations(CV)with3%-19%between replicate tanks in all treatments than the highest frequency(4%-79%),dis playing well ***,G_(b)addressed the challenge of the complicated heatmap with multiple ***,the behavioral Gini coefficient we established is an idea parameter to quantitatively assess spatial distribution of fish shoal,which is expected to be applied in toxicity testing for chemicals and wastewater and automatic quality monitoring for surface water and aquaculture water.

Heterosis has been exploited to enhance the yield and adaptability in various shellfish species;however,the molecular basis of it remains *** Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is one of the most economically important aquaculture species,and its productive traits can be improved by ***,an intraspecific cross between orange shell(O,10th generation)and‘Haida No.1’(H,13th generation)of *** was performed to assess the heterosis of survival *** rates of hybrid family(OH)and inbred families(HH and OO)were compared at larval stage,and eyed-pediveliger larvae of three families were subjected to transcriptome *** analysis results of best-parent heterosis and mid-parent heterosis showed that the hybrid family exhi-bited a high heterosis in survival relative to the parental *** OH-M(OH ***)and OH-P(OH ***)had 425 and 512 dif-ferentially expressed genes(DEGs),*** enrichment analysis of these DEGs revealed that the significantly enrich-ed genes function in virion binding,C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway,cellular defense response and other immune-related pro-cesses,which involves perlucin-like protein,CD209 antigen-like protein,ZNFX1,caspase-3 and acan *** differentially ex-pressed genes in OH-M and OH-P,together with the immune-related processes mentioned above may play an important role in the larval survival of *** addition,three genes(CYP450,fucolectin and perlucin-like)are associated with the orange shell and low survival of maternal oyster *** findings provide support for the application of hybrid with superior survival and will facilitate the understanding of heterosis formation in the Pacific oyster.
