Neiguan(PC6) acupoint stimulation for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: a cost-effective supplement in guideline-inconsistent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting prophylaxis subgroup

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Neiguan(PC6) acupoint acustimulation in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting(CINV),especially for patients with guideline-inconsistent CINV prophylaxis(GICP) due to personal reasons METHODS: From January 2021 to December 2021, 373 patients suffered from solid malignancy were recruited according to the inclusion criteria. Complete response(no emesis and no rescue medication use) rate during the overall phase(0-120 h of each chemo-cycle) was the primary assessment of CINV control. The Functional living Index-Emesis(FliE) questionnaire was investigated among these patients as a secondary 'quality of life' objective to assess the impact of CINV on patients' daily life by recording score of nausea and vomiting. REsuLTS: With acustimulation of Neiguan(PC6) acupuncture point through a portable, noninvasive and user-friendly device, in terms of complete response rate and scores in nausea/vomiting by FliE questionnaire, patients achieve a better outcome in highly emetogenic chemotherapy(HEC) induced CINV, especially GICP subgroup. Meanwhile, analysis also demonstrated this tendency existed in other patients with HEC/GCCP(guideline consistent CINV prophylaxis) and moderate emetogenic chemotherapy, although the difference was not significant. CONCLUSION: Considering advantages of Neiguan(PC6) acustimulation such as noninvasive, covered by medical insurance and few side effects, we believe it would be an ideal auxiliary tool in CINV control, especially in patients who receive highly emetogenic chemoprotocol and are reluctant to GCCP for economic reasons.

Poly(lactic acid)(PLA) as a bio-based polymer with biodegradability and biocompatibility has attracted much attention. To manipulate its properties for different applications, regulation of crystal structure and crystalline morphology becomes an attractive research topic. In this work, the structure evolution of layered samples containing an amorphous poly(D-lactide)(PDLA) layer and a crystalline poly(L-lactide)(PLLA)layer with highly oriented edge-on α lamellar crystals after annealing at 150 ℃ or/and after melt-recrystallization has been studied by AFM, FTIR,and TEM combined with electron diffraction. The results demonstrate that melt recrystallization of the as-prepared sample leads to the formation of abundant randomly oriented PLA stereo-complex(PLA SC) crystals. Annealing at 150 ℃ results in the formation of a small amount of oriented PLA SC crystals at the interface. These PLA SC crystals show great impact on the recrystallization behavior of sample after melting at 190 ℃ and then crystallizing at 90 ℃. First, they impede the mutual diffusion of the overlying PDLA and underlying PLLA, and thus reduce their stereocomplexation ability as manifested by the decreased amount of PLA SC crystals. Second, they act as substrate to initiate the epitaxial crystallization of the overlying PDLA and underlying PLLA, which ensures the production of a highly oriented structure of PDLA and PLLA after melt recrystallization again.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic artery disease that causes various types of cardiovascular *** smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),the main components of atherosclerotic plaque,switch from contractile to synthetic phenotypes during *** is crucial in regulating VSMC phenotypes in atherosclerosis,and it can be reversely regulated by ***,the specific effects of deubiquitinases on atherosclerosis have not been thoroughly *** this study,RNAi screening in human aortic smooth muscle cells was performed to explore the effects of OTU family deubiquitinases,which revealed that silencing OTUB1 inhibited PDGF-BB-stimulated VSMC phenotype *** in vivo studies using Apoe−/−mice revealed that knockdown of OTUB1 in VSMCs alleviated atherosclerosis plaque burden in the advanced stage and led to a stable plaque ***,VSMC proliferation and migration upon PDGF-BB stimulation could be inhibited by silencing OTUB1 in *** RNA-sequencing data indicated that knocking down OTUB1 influenced VSMC differentiation,adhesion,and *** spectrometry of ubiquitinated protein confirmed that proteins related to cell growth and migration were differentially ***,we found that OTUB1 recognized the K707 residue ubiquitylation of PDGFRβwith its catalytic triad,thereby reducing the K48-linked ubiquitylation of PDGFRβ.Inhibiting OTUB1 in VSMCs could promote PDGFRβdegradation via the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway,so it was beneficial in preventing VSMCs’phenotype *** findings revealed that knocking down OTUB1 ameliorated VSMCs’phenotype switch and atherosclerosis progression,indicating that OTUB1 could be a valuable translational therapeutic target in the future.

Flower organ identity in rice is mainly determined by the A-,B-,C-and E-class genes,with the majority encoding MADS-box transcription ***,few studies have investigated how the expression of these floral organ identity genes is regulated during flower *** this study,we identified a gene named suPER WOMAN 2(SPW2),which is necessary for spikelet/floret development in rice by participating in the regulation of the expression of pistil identity genes such as OsMADS3,OsMADS13,OsMADS58 and *** the spw2 mutant,ectopic stigma/ovary-like tissues were observed in the non-pistil organs,including sterile lemma,lemma,palea,lodicule,and stamen,suggesting that the identities of these organs were severely affected by mutations in ***2 was shown to encode a plant-specific EMF1-like protein that is involved in H3K27me3 modification as an important component of the PRC2 *** analysis showed that the SPW2 mutation led to the ectopic expression of OsMADS3,OsMADS13,OsMADS58,and DL in non-pistil organs of the *** ChIP-qPCR results showed significant reductions in the levels of H3K27me3 modification on the chromatin of these ***,we demonstrated that SPW2 can mediate the process of H3K27me3 modification of pistil-related genes to regulate their expression in non-pistil organs of spikelets in *** results of this study expand our understanding of the molecular mechanism by which SPW2 regulates floral organ identity genes through epigenetic regulation.
