Programmed and unprogrammed double-strand breaks (DSBs) often arise from such physiological requirements as meiotic recombination, and exogenous insults, such as ionizing radiation (IR). Due to deleterious impacts on genome stability, DSBs must be appropriately processed and repaired in a regulatory manner. Recent investigations have indicated that ubiquitination is a critical factor in DNA damage response and meiotic recombination repair. This review summarizes the effects of proteins and complexes associated with ubiquitination with regard to homologous recombination (HR)-dependent DSB repair.

On the basis of data collected in the Jiaozhou Bay in June and July 2003, the DIC distribution in seawater is studied, and an average air-sea flux of CO2 is estimated. The results show that the content of DIC inside the bay is markedly higher than outside the bay in June, but the content of DIC outside the bay is markedly higher than inside the bay in July. The trend of DIC distribution inside the bay is similar, viz. the content is the maximum in the northeast, then decreases gradually toward the west, and the content is the minimum in the west. The total trend of vertical distribution is to increase gradually from surface to bottom. This characteristic of DIC distribution is determined by Jiaozhou Bay hydrology and there is a close relation between DIC and particulate N,P. Average CO2flux across the air-sea interface is 0.55 mol/(m2-a) in June and 0.72 mol/(m2-a) in July. Jiaozhou Bay is considered as a net annual source for atmospheric CO2 in June and July, and the total CO2 flux from seawater into atmosphere is about 740t in June and 969 t in July.

Forced by different wind stress as well as different surface heat flux, three 10 year integrations using L30T63 oceanic GCM are carried out. The annual mean state, seasonal cycle and interannual variability of the upper ocean temperature over the tropical Pacific are examined. In the case of annual mean state of sea surface temperature, relults from D15c and D15e are alike and have good agreement with NCEP data. Defects in D15d include the excessively higher SST over warm pool region and higher SST along the eastern coast. The corresponding westward displacement of cold water is also noticeable. All the experiments represent the annual cycle of SST in the eastern equatorial Pacific while the amplitudes are weaker compared to NCEP data. The intensity of interannual variability of SST in eastern equatorial Pacific is markedly improved D15d and is perfectly comparative with that from NCEP data. The eastward propagations of the interannual variability of upper ocean heat content along the equator in 1982/1983 E1 Nio are well represented in all experiments. On the onset stage of 1982/1983 E1 Nio, the modeled interannual variabilities of SST and heat content are generally the same among all experiments. It is the weakest interannual variability of surface heat flux, which damps SST variability during the mature phase of E1 Nio, that results in a most intensified SST variability in D15d.

A Nonlinear Fluid Damping （NFD） in the form of the square-velocity is applied in the response analysis of Vortex-Induced Vibrations （VIV）. Its nonlinear hydrodynamic effects on the coupled wake and structure oscillators are investigated. A comparison between the coupled systems with the linear and nonlinear fluid dampings and experiments shows that the NFD model can well describe response characteristics, such as the amplification of body displacement at lock-in and frequency lock-in, both at high and low mass ratios. Particularly, the predicted peak amplitude of the body in the Griffin plot is in good agreement with experimental data and empirical equation, indicating the significant effect of the NFD on the structure motion.

Volcanic rocks from the northern and middle Okinawa Trough were dated by ura- nium-series dating method. Differential fractions using magnetic procedure were designed to separate samples. New report on the ages and isotopic data of rocks in the northern trough (especially black pumice) was discussed. Based on the uranium dates and Sr-Nd isotopic ratio, magmatic evolution process of the Okinawa Trough was noted. Firstly, there have been wide silicic volcanic activities in the Okinawa Trough from late Pleistocene to present, and the volcanic rocks can be divided into three subgroups. Secondly, magma generally came from PREMA source area under the Okinawa Trough. Magmatic evolution in the northern trough was similar to the middle, but different to the south. Finally, volcanic activities indicated that opening of the southern Okinawa Trough did not happen due to the collision between Luson Arc and Eurasian Plate until the early Pleistocene.

A new cycad,Leptocycas yangcaogouensis ***.,was found in sediments from the Late Triassic in western liaoning,*** pinnately compound leaves(Pseudoctenis type)are screwed in a crown on the stem *** leaflets are linear,with parallel veins and decurrent bases on the *** leaf bases are *** cataphylls intermix with the *** female cone is ovoid in *** characteristics of the new plant are more similar to those of Leptocycas gracilis,a Triassic cycad from North America,but the new species differs from *** in the size of its stem(7–8 vs.3–5 cm in diameter,respectively),leaves(length×width 100×16 vs.30×7 cm,respectively)and leaf density along the stem(4–6 vs.1–2 bases/1 cm length,respectively).Both *** and ***,having leaves of the Pseudoctenis type,show a closer relationship to the extant Dioon of *** present study provides evidence for the origin of the genus Dioon,which may have come from Leptocycas plants of the *** would be assumed that the extent cycads in Zamiaceae originate from the pteridosperms in the Late Paleozoic and have evolved through the stage of *** and *** in Late Triassic,and reaching the extant Dioon.

A brief description of the NAO coude echelle spectrograph mounted on the 2.16 m telescope at Xinglong station is given. This echelle spectrograph is located at the coudé focus with a prism cross disperser. The echelle image covers the spectral region from 330 to 1100 nm displayed in 80 spectral orders in one exposure through two light beams. With a slit height of 2mm, spectral orders are separated by 15 to 23 pixels in blue region and by 7 to 19 pixels in red region. Alternatively, two additional resolution modes corresponding to different focal length cameras with resolving power R 16000, 170 000 in the blue beam and R = 13000, 170 000 in the red beam could be provided by this spectrograph. The bias, dark, wavelength calibration, flat field and science exposure are described in details. The limiting magnitude for 1 hour exposure with an S/N ratio of 100 scales to V = 9.5 in the red path and to V = 7.2 in the blue path.

Degradation of furan tebufenozide in laboratory and field trials

Furan tebufenozide is a newly developed insect growth regulator and has been applied as a pesticide in agriculture in *** degradation under both laboratory and field conditions was investigated,and the degradation kinetics was fitted by simple first order kinetics (SFO) model and first order double exponential (FOD) *** studies were conducted with or without light in five simulated media (sterilized deionized water,river water,soil solution,sterilized soil and natural soil).No dissipations of furan tebufenozide were observed in sterilized aqueous and soil media under light prevented conditions,whereas degradation occurred under all the other conditions in the *** from SFO and FOD models,DT50 in the dark and light laboratory conditions was in the range of 39.7-82.5 and 1.1-8.0 days,*** results indicated that microbes and light were the main factors for the degradation of the pesticide in the *** field trials,derived from the SFO model,DT50 and DT90 were 30.3 and 100.5 days,while derived from the FOD model,DT50 and DT90 were 28.9 and 274.9 days,*** with laboratory experiments,field trials were influenced by multiple ***,the SFO model could not fit experimental data as well as the FOD model did in field trials.
