In the Chinese national nutrition surveys, fortified foods were not investigated separately from the base diet, and the contribution of fortified foods to micronutrients intake is not very clear. This study investigated the diet, including fortified foods and food supplements, of urban pregnant women and analyzed the intake of calcium, iron,and zinc to assess the corresponding contributions of fortified foods, food supplements, and the base diet. The results demonstrated that the base diet was the major source of calcium, iron, and zinc, and was recommended to be the first choice for micronutrients intake. Furthermore, consumption of fortified foods and food supplements offered effective approaches to improve the dietary intake of calcium, iron, and zinc in Chinese urban pregnant women.

Jejunal diverticulosis is uncommon and often asymptomatic.It can produce significant complications,and some complications are potentially life threatening and require early surgical treatment,such as obstruction,hemorrhage and perforation.There is no consensus on the management of this disease.Only a few cases of jejunal diverticulosis with midgut volvulus have been reported.We herein report a case of 57-year-old woman with jejunal diverticulosis causing small bowel volvulus who complained of intermittent upper abdominal pin-prick for 5 years that eventually progressed to a complete obstruction.The computed tomography scans revealed a mesenteric vessel "whirlpool" and laparotomy showed midgut volvulus secondary to jejunal diverticula.This case highlights jejunal diverticulosis causing small bowel volvulus as an uncommon mechanism of small bowel obstruction,which should be included in the differential diagnosis of small bowel obstruction.

Objective: Regarding frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET), there is limited consensus on whether extending embryo culture from the cleavage stage to the blastocyst stage affects perinatal outcomes. This study aimed to compare perinatal outcomes of singletons between blastocyst-stage embryo transfer (BT) and cleavage-stage embryo transfer (CT) in FET.Methods: A total of 9408 FET cycles that met the inclusion criteria were included in this retrospective cohort study between 2019 and 2022. Blastocyst-stage embryo transfers were performed in the BT group, and cleavage-stage embryo transfers were performed in the CT group. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed, as well as propensity score matching (PSM) to adjust for confounders.Results: After PSM, a higher risk of pre-term birth (PTB; odds ratio [OR]: 1.23, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.00-1.50,P = 0.048) and being large for gestational age (LGA;OR: 1.16, 95%CI: 1.00-1.35,P = 0.050) was observed in the BT group compared to that in the CT group. After stratified PSM, in the subgroup under 35 years of age, only an increased risk of LGA was observed in the BT group compared to the CT group. Perinatal outcomes in the double-embryo transfer subgroup were similar to those in the unstratified group. However, in the subgroup beyond 35 years of age and the single embryo transfer subgroup, perinatal outcomes were not statistically different between the BT and CT groups (P >0.05).Conclusions: In FET, prolonged embryo culture to the blastocyst stage increased the risk of PTB and LGA in single fetuses. However, stratified analysis based on age and the number of transferred embryos yielded different results, necessitating further mechanistic studies.

Based on the attributes of nonflammability,environmental benignity,and cost-effectiveness of aqueous electrolytes,as well as the favorable compatibility of zinc metal with them,aqueous zinc ions batteries(AZIBs)become the leading energy storage candidate to meet the requirements of safety and low cost.Yet,aqueous electrolytes,acting as a double-edged sword,also play a negative role by directly or indirectly causing various parasitic reactions at the zinc anode side.These reactions include hydrogen evolution reaction,passivation,and dendrites,resulting in poor Coulombic efficiency and short lifespan of AZIBs.A comprehensive review of aqueous electrolytes chemistry,zinc chemistry,mechanism and chemistry of parasitic reactions,and their relationship is lacking.Moreover,the understanding of strategies for suppressing parasitic reactions from an electrochemical perspective is not profound enough.In this review,firstly,the chemistry of electrolytes,zinc anodes,and parasitic reactions and their relationship in AZIBs are deeply disclosed.Subsequently,the strategies for suppressing parasitic reactions from the perspective of enhancing the inherent thermodynamic stability of electrolytes and anodes,and lowering the dynamics of parasitic reactions at Zn/electrolyte interfaces are reviewed.Lastly,the perspectives on the future development direction of aqueous electrolytes,zinc anodes,and Zn/electrolyte interfaces are presented.

The vibration disturbance from an external environment affects the machining accuracy of ultra-precision machining equipment.Most active vibration-isolation systems(AVIS)have been developed based on static loads.When a vibration-isolation load changes dynamically during ultra-precision turning lathe machining,the system parameters change,and the efficiency of the active vibration-isolation system based on the traditional control strategy deteriorates.To solve this problem,this paper proposes a vibration-isolation control strategy based on a genetic algorithm-back propagation neural network-PID control(GA-BP-PID),which can automatically adjust the control parameters according to the machining conditions.Vibration-isolation simulations and experiments based on passive vibration isolation,a PID algorithm,and the GA-BP-PID algorithm under dynamic load machining conditions were conducted.The experimental results demonstrated that the active vibration-isolation control strategy designed in this study could effectively attenuate vibration disturbances in the external environment under dynamic load conditions.This design is reasonable and feasible.

Neonatal sepsis is an illness caused by bloodstream bacteria or fungal infections that affect newborn infants under 28 days of age.It stands as a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality in neonatal intensive care units(NICUs).With the improved survival rates of very low-birth-weight or extremely premature infants,a growing number of these vulnerable infants are receiving intensive care and undergoing invasive procedures,making nosocomial infections a persistent challenge in NICUs.The mortality rate associated with neonatal sepsis varies depending on factors such as birth weight,gestational age,and other co-morbidities.It can also lead to a range of long-term health consequences,including neurodevelopmental disabilities like cerebral palsy,visual or hearing impairments,and cognitive problems.Furthermore,neonatal sepsis is linked to various adverse outcomes,including respiratory complications,bronchopulmonary dysplasia,nutritional and growth issues,and immunological dysfunction[1].Due to its atypical clinical presentation and the low rate of specific diagnostic indicators,such as a positive blood culture,accurately diagnosing neonatal sepsis is challenging.Consequently,the appropriateness of antibiotic treatment is often a matter of controversy.

The Effect of Moisture in Different Altitude Layers on the Eastward Propagation of MJO

In this study, driven by ERA5 reanalysis data, the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) version 4.0 was used to investigate the eastward propagation of the Madden–Julian oscillation(MJO) in the tropical atmosphere during December–February(DJF) of 2007/2008. The experiment with 11 cumulus parameterization schemes respectively shows that the Grell 3D scheme is one of several worse ones in describing MJO activities. In addition, still by use of the Grell 3D scheme, four nudging assimilation experiments for water vapor in all model vertical layers(Ndg＿all),lower layers(Ndg＿low), middle layers(Ndg＿mid), and upper layers(Ndg＿upp) were conducted. It is found that when the water vapor in the model approaches to the observed value, the model performance for MJO activities is improved greatly. Among the four nudging simulations, Ndg＿all certainly performs best. Although Ndg＿mid is important for the MJO-filtered profiles related to moisture, Ndg＿low and Ndg＿upp exhibit superiority to Ndg＿mid in simulating MJO eastward propagation. Ndg＿low has advantages when MJO features are represented by zonal wind at850 hPa and precipitation because the lower-level MJO-filtered moisture is conducive to the existence of lower-level condensational heating to the east of the MJO convective center. Ndg＿upp performs better when describing the MJO eastward propagation features by outgoing longwave radiation(OLR) since it can capture the moisture and cloud top temperature of deep convection associated with MJO, as well as front Walker cell. These results suggest that the lower-level moisture is more important in regulating the MJO eastward propagation, and the observed maximum MJO-filtered moisture in the middle troposphere might be a phenomenon accompanying the MJO deep convection,but not a factor controlling its eastward propagation.

Silicon suboxide(SiO_(x),x≈1)is promising in serving as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries with high capacity,but it has a low initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)due to the irreversible formation of lithium silicates during the first cycle.In this work,we modify SiO_(x) by solid-phase Mg doping reaction using low-cost Mg powder as a reducing agent.We show that Mg reduces SiO_(2) in SiO_(x) to Si and forms MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4).The MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4) are mainly distributed on the surface of SiO_(x),which suppresses the irreversible lithium-ion loss and enhances the ICE of SiO_(x).However,the formation of MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4) also sacrifices the capacity of SiO_(x).Therefore,by controlling the reaction process between Mg and SiO_(x),we can tune the phase composition,proportion,and morphology of the Mg-doped SiO_(x) and manipulate the performance.We obtain samples with a capacity of 1226 mAh g^(–1) and an ICE of 84.12%,which show significant improvement over carbon-coated SiO_(x) without Mg doping.By the synergistical modification of both Mg doping and prelithiation,the capacity of SiO_(x) is further increased to 1477 mAh g^(–1) with a minimal compromise in the ICE(83.77%).
