Exfoliation corrosion of extruded Mg-li-Ca alloy

Exfoliation on as-extruded Mg-1 li-1 Ca magnesium alloy was investigated after an immersion in 3.5 wt%NaCl aqueous solution for 90, 120 and 150 days through optical microscope, digital camera, scanning electron microscope, electrochemical workstation, scanning Kalvin probe, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscope. The results demonstrated that exfoliation corrosion occurred on extruded Mg-1 li-1 Ca alloy due to elongated microstructure parallel to surface, and delamination of lamellar structure resulted from galvanic effect and wedge effect. Skin layer with fine grains exhibited better corrosion resistance, whereas the interior with coarse grains and the intermetallic compound,Mg2 Ca particles existing in a fibrous structure, dispersed along grain boundaries and extrusion direction in a line. Furthermore, galvanic effect between Mg2 Ca particles and their neighboring a-Mg matrix facilitated dissolution of Mg2 Ca particles and a-Mg matrix; wedge effect was caused by formation of corrosion products. Exfoliation corrosion of extruded Mg-li-Ca alloys might be a synergic effect of pitting corrosion,filiform corrosion, intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion. Finally, exfoliation corrosion mechanism was proposed.

In this paper a predictive model for long-term shoreline change is proposed on the basis of a numerical model of wave-induced current, which is applicable to rather complex boundary conditions in nearshore region, and a one-line model of shoreline change. As a computational example, the model is used in the prediction of shoreline change of the Nouakchott coast of Mauritania and consistent results between computation and measurements are obtained.

The experimental studies on the carbon and nitrogen budgets of Pseudeuphausia sinica

The carbon and nitrogen budgets were estimated on the adult females, juveniles and post-furcilia larvae of Pseudeuphausia sinica fed on newly hatching nauplii of Artemia salina in the laboratory. It was found that the ingestion rate was linearly related to the food concentration, suggesting high feeding potential. The linear correlation could be established between the respirating rate (carbon consumption rate) and carbon ingestion rate, as well as carbon assimilation rate. The regression coefficients (*** dynamic action coefficients) were in the range from 9% to 16% (ingested C) or 10% to 17% (assimilated C) respectively, with lower in the post-furcilia larvae. There also existed a linear correlation equation between estimated total nitrogen excretion rate and the rates of nitrogen ingestion and assimilation separately, except for the juveniles. The defecation rates increased with the increase of the ingestion rate; as a result, assimilation efficiency was not related to the ingestion rate, ranging from 0.84 to 0.95. The results inducated that the nitrogen content in food particles was a key factor limiting the growth of P. sinica. The critical ingestion rate was 10 μgN·mg-1 body dry weight per day. Assimilated N was lost mostly by excretion, following allocated to somatic growth. The nitrogen loss by moult only accounted for a minor part. As for carbon budget, respiration and somatic growth also accounted for most of assimilation, but varied with ingestion rates. Moult loss was minor. Estimated reproductive growth (C&N) in the adult females accounted for somewhat higher percent of assimilation than the moult growth. The net growth efficiency (K2) increased with the increase of the ingestion rates, but decreased slightly for juvenile and post-furcilia larvae after the rates up to a certain value.

Carrier-free multi-component self-assembled nano-systems have attracted widespread attention owing to their easy preparation,high drug-loading efficiency,and excellent therapeutic ***,MnAs-ICG nanospike was generated by self-assembly of indocyanine green(ICG),manganese ions(Mn^(2+)),and arsenate(AsO_(4)^(3−))based on electrostatic and coordination interactions,effectively integrating the bimodal imaging ability of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and fluorescence(FL)imaging-guided synergistic therapy of photothermal/chemo/chemodynamic therapy within an“all-in-one”theranostic *** as-prepared MnAs-ICG nanospike had a uniform size,well-defined nanospike morphology,and impressive loading *** MnAs-ICG nanospike exhibited sensitive responsiveness to the acidic tumor microenvironment with morphological transformation and dimensional variability,enabling deep penetration into tumor tissue and on-demand release of functional therapeutic *** vitro and in vivo results revealed that MnAs-ICG nanospike showed synergistic tumor-killing effect,prolonged blood circulation and increased tumor accumulation compared to their individual components,effectively resulting in synergistic therapy of photothermal/chemo/chemodynamic therapy with excellent anti-tumor *** together,this new strategy might hold great promise for rationally engineering multifunctional theranostic nano-platforms for breast cancer treatment.

Propagating property of flat-topped multi-Gaussian beams passing through a misaligned optical system with two-lens and two-diaphragm

The optical elements' maladjustment is a potential threaten in optical systems, thus, the transmission feature of laser beams passing through a misaligned optical system is widely studied. By using approximate expansion of circle diaphragm and generalized Huygens-Fresnel diffraction formula, a universal analytic expression is deduced for the flat-topped multi-Gaussian beams passing through a misaligned optical system with two-lens and two-diaphragm. The study on the propagating property of fundamental-mode Gaussian beams and a flat-topped multi-Gaussian beam is carried out accordingly. The expansion of complex Gauss function of misaligned optical circle diaphragm is given, as well as a group of new parameter values of the expansion of complex Gauss function. By using the new parameter values, the influence of disadjust parameters on output intensity distribution is analyzed numerically. The result shows that the diaphragms' offset can make the beams offset or covered, and the second diaphragm influences more; the angle deflection of diaphragms can make light beams compressed in the deflection direction, and the first diaphragm influences more; the offset of the first lens can weaken light intensity in the same direction of the lens offset, and the offset of the second lens can weaken light intensity in the opposite direction of the lens offset; the angle deflection of the first lens can make light beams move to the opposite direction,and the angle deflection of the second lens has no influence; when all the diaphragms and the lenses are disadjust, the angle deflection of the first lens has a vital influence to the output intensity distribution.

Research progress on reduced lodging of high-yield and-density maize

Increasing plant density is an effective way to enhance maize yield, but often increases lodging rate and severity, significantly elevating the risk and cost of maize production. Therefore, lodging is a major factor restricting future increases in maize yield through high-density planting. This paper reviewed previous research on the relationships between maize lodging rate and plant morphology, mechanical strength of stalks, anatomical and biochemical characteristics of stalks, root characteristics, damage from pests and diseases, environmental factors, and genomic characteristics. The effects of planting density on these factors and explored possible ways to improve lodging resistance were also analyzed in this paper. The results provide a basis for future research on increasing maize lodging resistance under high-density planting conditions and can be used to develop maize cultivation practices and lodging-resistant maize cultivars.

In this study, semivariance was used to quantitatively measure the spatial heterogeneity for the egg population of cotton bollworm during a growing season. The typical characteristic parameters of theoretical semivariance models against lag distances were applied to measure components of spatial heterogeneity： trend, range, spatial dependence, and the strength of spatial dependence. Then, kriging interpolation was used to evaluate the population risk of cotton bollworm exceeding economic thresholds. From early June through early September, the population densities were sampled 10 times in the study field. Results showed that the spatial patterns were related to population density. For its low-density population, the spatially heterogeneous trends were usually of spherical shapes; but for highdensity ones, the trends shifted to Gaussian shapes. The spatial dependence appeared at varied distances ranging from 52 meters to 936 meters, and the spatial dependence was in the range of 0.39-288.60, which changed with population densities. While having high heterogeneity, the strength of spatial dependence became much stronger. Results of population risk analysis showed that there was a high risk during its early stages, especially in mid-June. In August, population risk was so low that it did not need to be controlled.
