Comprehensive evaluation and analysis of a nearly zero-energy building heating system using a multi-source heat pump in severe cold region

The integrated application of multi-energy coupled technology in nearly zero-energy building(NZEB)is promising from the perspective of low-carbon development to achieve the goal of net zero ***(photovoltaic/thermal),air,and ground sources were combined organically to establish an experimental platform of a multi-source heat pump(MSHP)system,which can realize flexible switching of multi-energy *** paper presents the analytical hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to comprehensively evaluate the five modes of the MSHP system with regard to energy,economic and environmental *** results indicate that the waste heat of the PVT cavity can improve the coefficient of performance of the heat pump unit(COP)by approximately 8.0%.The initial investment in air source heat pump(ASHP)modes is lower than that of a coal-powered *** ground source heat pump(GSHP)modes have high stability and their payback period is 8.81–10.66 *** photovoltaic/thermal-dual source heat pump(PVT-DSHP)mode presents the most appropriate system applied in the NZEB in severe cold region,followed by the DSHP,GSHP,ASHP,and PVT-ASHP *** compared with other modes,COP,annual saving cost,carbon dioxide emission reduction,and comprehensive value of the PVT-DSHP mode have improved by 7.07%–29.57%,2.21%–23.88%,3.38%–14.83%,and 27.91%–52.62%,*** study provides important insights into the practical application and sustainable development of multi-energy coupled systems in the NZEB in severe cold region.

A quantitative analysis of the spatial pattern of rural settlements in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River was made with the major data sources being the relevant ETM image and the national geographical database of China (including contour line, river and road) at the scale of 1:250 000, and using image interpretation and field investigation to obtain spatial information on rural settlements. The results of the spatial analysis technique of GIS and correlation analysis showed that most settlements (78.2 %) were located in the mountain area at 1500 ∼ 2700 m altitude, and almost half in the arid valley area. More than 80.0 % of settlements had their slopes above 15°. Most settlements had good access to water resources, roads and communications, and tended to cluster close to the road network rather than the river. About half of the rural settlements in the study area were relatively concentrated, while the others were decentralized. Those with higher altitude usually had land with steep slope, inconvenient water and road accesses, and were located far apart from each other. In view of such a situation, further research should be done to make reasonable countermeasures on these settlements for better living conditions and ecosystem stability.

Large-scale projects,such as the construction of railways and highways,usually cause an extensive Land Use Land Cover Change(LULCC).The China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic Corridor(CCAWAEC),one key large-scale project of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI),covers a region that is home to more than 1.6 billion *** numerous studies have been conducted on strategies and the economic potential of the Economic Corridor,reviewing LULCC mapping studies in this area has not been *** study provides a comprehensive review of the recent research progress and discusses the challenges in LULCC monitoring and driving factors identifying in the study *** review will be helpful for the decision-making of sustainable development and construction in the Economic *** this end,350 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers,as well as book chapters were analyzed based on 17 attributes,such as main driving factors of LULCC,data collection methods,classification algorithms,and accuracy assessment *** was observed that:(1)rapid urbanization,industrialization,population growth,and climate change have been recognized as major causes of LULCC in the study area;(2)LULCC has,directly and indirectly,caused several environmental issues,such as biodiversity loss,air pollution,water pollution,desertification,and land degradation;(3)there is a lack of well-annotated national land use data in the region;(4)there is a lack of reliable training and reference datasets to accurately study the long-term LULCC in most parts of the study area;and(5)several technical issues still require more attention from the scientific ***,several recommendations were proposed to address the identified issues.

Integrated Evaluation Model for Eco-Environmental Quality in Mountainous Region Based on Remote Sensing and GIS

Based on Remote Sensing （RS）, Geographic Information System （GIS）, and combining Principal Component Analysis, this paper designed a numerical integrated evaluation model for mountain eco-environment on the base of grid scale. Using this model, we evaluated the mountain eco-environmental quality in a case study area-the upper reaches of Minjiang River, and achieved a good result, which accorded well with the real condition. The study indicates that, the integrated evaluation model is suitable for multi-layer spatial factor computation, effectively lowing man＇s subjective influence in the evaluation process; treating the whole river basin as a system, the model shows full respect to the circulation of material and energy, synthetically embodies the determining impact of such natural condition as water-heat and landform, as well as human interference in natural eco-system; the evaluation result not only clearly presents mountainous vertical distribution features of input factors, but also provides a scientific and reliable thought for quantitatively evaluating mountain eco-environment.

Corrosion Inhibition from Thiol Self-assembly Layer: A High Pressure Perspective

Taking dodecanethiol as the representative, we investigated the corrosion inhibition performance of SAL in seawater under pressures from 0.1 to 9 MPa. By using scanning Kelvin probe, the dodecanethiol SAL is confirmed to build on Cu surface, and the modification of SAL has positively shifted the surface potential to realize the inertness. Electrochemical techniques, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization were used to reveal the corrosion behavior of Cu modified by SAL under the different pressure, i e, 0.1, 3, 6, and 9 MPa. It is indicated that the longer modification time affords better corrosion resistance to Cu. Higher static pressure is easier to deteriorate the corrosion inhibition capability due to the penetration effect. A plausible mechanism is proposed to illustrate the degradation process of SAL in the high pressure seawater environment.

P chromosomes may carry a genetic system that inhibits the Ph gene in wheat. Abnormal chromosome synapsis in wheat-Agropyron cristatum addition line II-21-2 (additional 1·4 recombinant P chromosome) was observed in this study. The results of cytogenetics and Ph1 gene amplification showed that the Ph1 gene was normal and the average number of quadrivalents or hexavalents was determined to be 0.41 and 0.13, respectively, in pollen-mother cells of wheat-Agropyron cristatum addition line II-21-2. The analysis of dual-color GISH/FISH showed that the P chromosomes were not directly involved in the composition of multivalents but could inhibit the effect of the Ph gene, leading to synapsis of wheat homoeologous chromosomes and translocation between wheat homoeologous chromosomes such as 3B-3D chromosomes. The characteristic of P chromosomes’ promoting synapsis of wheat homoeologous chromosomes may have potential application in the genetic improvement of wheat.

Forest disturbances have been altering the ecological properties of ecosystems;meanwhile,disturbance events of varying sizes create different structures and functions for a forest ***,size and frequency are important attributes of disturbances,and their relationship should be *** present a hierarchical method through the modeling of the overall trend of the size–frequency distribution and the characterization of the non-constant variances of disturbance sizes at each frequency *** method was demonstrated to accurately model the sizes as well as the corresponding frequencies;thus,the total disturbed area and number of disturbance patches were both accurately *** applying the method to 13 provinces in China,consistent patterns were revealed by the modeling results and remote-sensing-based product,showing that between 2000 and 2005,forests in most provinces were dominated by moderate disturbances(10 ha1000 ha)occurred in the northeastern and northwestern *** study concludes that the proposed method can improve the representation of the size–frequency distribution of forest disturbances.

By analyzing the topographic features of past landslides since 1980s and the main land-cover types （including change information） in landslide-prone area, modeled spatial distribution of landslide hazard in upper Minjiang River Basin was studied based on spatial analysis of GIS in this paper. Results of GIS analysis showed that landslide occurrence in this region closely related to topographic feature. Most areas with high hazard probability were deep-sheared gorge. Most of them in investigation occurred assembly in areas with elevation lower than 3 000 m, due to fragile topographic conditions and intensive human disturbances. Land-cover type, including its change information, was likely an important environmental factor to trigger landslide. Destroy of vegetation driven by increase of population and its demands augmented the probability of landslide in steep slope.
