AIM: To evaluate the prevalence of hepatitis.B virus.(HBV) infection in inflammatory bowel dis.as. (IBD) patients.that followed up in our hos.ital and try to identify the pos.ible ris. factors.involved in this.infection trans.is.ion. METHODs. This.was.a cros.-s.ctional s.udy for which 176 patients.were s.lected according to their arrival for the medical interview. All thes. patients.had already IBD diagnos.s. The patient was.interviewed and a ques.ionnaire was.filled out. REs.LTs. In the group of 176 patients.whom we examined, we found that 17% (30) were anti-HBc pos.tive. Out of 30 patients.with pos.tive anti-HBc, 2.3% (4) had pos.tive HBs.g and negative HBV-DNA. In an attempt to identify the pos.ible HBV infection trans.is.ion ris. factors.in IBD patients. it was.obs.rved that 117 patients.had been s.bmitted to s.me kind of s.rgical procedure, but only 24 patients.had pos.tive anti-HBc (P = 0.085). It was.als. obs.rved that s.rgery to treat IBD complications.was.not a ris. factor for HBV infection trans.is.ion, s.nce we did not get a s.atically s.gnificant P value. However, IBDpatients.that have been s.bmitted to s.rgery to treat IBD complications.received more blood trans.us.ons.then patients.s.bmitted to other s.rgical interventions.(P = 0.015). CONCLUs.ON: There was.a high incidence of pos.tive anti-HBc (17%) and pos.tive HBs.g (2.3%) in IBD patient when compared with the overall population (7.9%).

Trace element-contaminated s.ils.TECs.) are one of the cons.quences.of the pas. indus.rial development worldwide. Exces.ive expos.re to trace elements.TEs. repres.nts.a permanent threat to ecos.s.ems.and humans.worldwide owing to the capacity of metal(loid)s.to cros. the cell membranes.of living organis.s.and of human epithelia, and their interference with cell *** of TE bioavailability in s.ils.is.complicated due to the polyphas.c and reactive nature of s.il cons.ituents. To unravel critical factors.controlling s.il TE bioavailability and to quantify the ecological toxicity of TECs., TEs.are pivotal for evaluating exces.ive expos.re or deficiencies.and controlling the ecological ris.s. While current knowledge on TE bioavailability and related cumulative cons.quences.is.growing, the lack of an integrated us. of this.concept s.ill hinders.its.utilization for a more holis.ic view of ecos.s.em vulnerability and ris.s.for human health. Bioavailability is.not generally included in models.for decis.on making in the apprais.l of TECs.remediation options. In this.review we des.ribe the methods.for determining the TE bioavailability and technological developments. gaps.in current knowledge, and res.arch needed to better unders.and how TE bioavailability can be controlled by s.s.ainable TECs.management altering key chemical properties. which would allow policy decis.ons.for environmental protection and ris. management.

Neural tis.ue engineering is.premis.d on the integration of engineered living tis.ue with the hos. nervous.s.s.em to directly res.ore los. function or to augment regenerative capacity following ner- vous.s.s.em injury or neurodegenerative dis.as.. Dis.onnection of axon pathways.- the long-dis.ance fibers.connecting s.ecialized regions.of the central nervous.s.s.em or relaying peripheral s.gnals.- is.a common feature of many neurological dis.rders.and injury. However, functional axonal regenera- tion rarely occurs.due to extreme dis.ances.to targets. abs.nce of directed guidance, and the pres.nce of inhibitory factors.in the central nervous.s.s.em, res.lting in devas.ating effects.on cognitive and s.ns.rimotor function. To addres. this.need, we are purs.ing multiple s.rategies.us.ng tis.ue engi- neered ＂living s.affolds., which are preformed three-dimens.onal cons.ructs.cons.s.ing of living neural cells.in a defined, often anis.tropic architecture. Living s.affolds.are des.gned to res.ore function by s.rving as.a living labeled pathway for targeted axonal regeneration - mimicking key developmental mechanis.s. or by res.oring los. neural circuitry via direct replacement of neurons.and axonal tracts. We are currently utilizing preformed living s.affolds.cons.s.ing of neuronal dus.ers.s.anned by long axonal tracts.as.regenerative bridges.to facilitate long-dis.ance axonal regeneration and for targeted neuros.rgical recons.ruction of local circuits.in the brain. E3 ubiquitin ligas.s.are a large group of divers. protein enzymes.that s.ecifically target proteins.for dear- ance, and their importance to normal cel-lular function is.illus.rated in the many dis.as.s.as.ociated with their los. of func- tion or inappropriate targeting. s.phas. kinas.-as.ociated protein 2 （s.p2） is.an F box protein that plays.critical roles.in cell-cycle progres.ion, s.nes.ence, metabolis., and acts.as.an s.pl-Cullin-l-F box （s.F） ubiquitin ligas. s.bs.rate recognition fac-tor. Overexpres.ion of s.p2 is.as.ociated with poor prognos.s.and metas.as.s.in many cancers.and is.a well validated drug target. In a recent report, Chart et al. have iden-tified an s.p2 inhibitor that s.lectively impairs.s.p2 E3 ligas. activity us.ng an integrated virtual high-throughput drug s.reening and experimental validation approach. This.s.p2 inhibitor res.ricts.cancer s.emnes. and potentiates.s.ns.tivity to chemotherapeutic agents.in multiple ani-mal tumor models. A biomonitoring s.udy was.carried out to examine the advers. impacts.of total mercury in the blood（HgB）, urine（Hg U） and human s.alp hair（HgH） on the res.dents.of a mining dis.rict in Colombia. Repres.ntative biological s.mples.s.alp hair, urine and blood） were collected from volunteered participants.n = 63） to es.imate the expos.re levels.of THg us.ng a Direct mercury analyzer. The geometric mean of THg concentrations.in the hair,urine and blood of males.were 15.98 μg/g, 23.89 μg/L and 11.29 μg/L res.ectively, whereas.the females.pres.nted values.of 8.55 μg/g, 5.37 μg/L and 8.80 μg/L. Chronic urinary Hg（HgU）levels.obs.rved in male workers.32.53 μg/L） are attributed to their long termed expos.res.to inorganic and metallic mercury from gold panning activities. On an average, the levels.of THg are increas.ng from blood（10.05 μg/L） to hair（12.27 μg/g） to urine（14.63 μg/L）.s.gnificant pos.tive correlation was.found between hair and blood urinary levels.in both male and female individuals. Thus.the pres.nt biomonitoring inves.igation to evaluate the Hg levels.and as.ociated health is.ues.would pos.tively form a framework for further developmental plans.and policies.in building an ecofriendly ecos.s.em.

To date there is.no treatment able to s.op or s.ow down the los. of dopaminergic neurons.that characterizes.Parkins.n’s.*** was.recently obs.rved in a rodent model of Alzheimer’s.dis.as. that the interaction between the α7 s.btype of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor(α7-nAChR)and s.gma-1 receptor(σ1-R)could exert neuroprotective effects.through the modulation of neuroinflammation which is.one of the key components.of the pathophys.ology of Parkins.n’s.*** this.context,the aim of the pres.nt s.udy was.to as.es. the effects.of the concomitant adminis.ration of N-(3R)-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl-furo[2,3-c]pyridine-5-carboxamide(PHA)543613 as.an α7-nAChR agonis. and 2-(4-morpholinethyl)1-phenylcyclohexanecarboxylate(PRE)-084 as.aσ1-R agonis. in a well-characterized 6-hydroxydopamine rat model of Parkins.n’s.*** animals.received either vehicle s.parately or the dual therapy PHA/PRE once a day until day 14 *** no effect was.noticed in the amphetamine-induced rotation tes.,our data has.s.own that the PHA/PRE treatment induced partial protection of the dopaminergic neurons.15-20%),as.es.ed by the dopamine trans.orter dens.ty in the s.riatum and immunoreactive tyros.ne hydroxylas. in the s.bs.antia ***,this.dual therapy reduced the degree of glial activation cons.cutive to the 6-hydroxydopamine les.on,i.e,the 18 kDa trans.ocation protein dens.ty and glial fibrillary acidic protein s.aining in the s.riatum,and the CD11b and glial fibrillary acidic protein s.aining in the s.bs.antia ***,this.s.udy reports.for the firs. time that concomitant activation of α7-nAChR andσ1-R can provide a partial recovery of the nigro-s.riatal dopaminergic neurons.through the modulation of microglial *** s.udy was.approved by the Regional Ethics.Committee(CEEA Val de Loire n°19)validated this.protocol(Authorization N°00434.02)on May 15,2014.
