Acousto-optic modulation of the femtosecond laser beam has wide potential in various fields such as microscopic imaging, micromachining and optical storage because of its rapidity, high accuracy and good repeatability. This paper reviews the latest research on acousto-optic modulation of femtosecond laser, describes the effects of spatial and temporal dispersion of such lasers after acousto-optic modulation, introduces the theoretical outcomes on pulse width evolution of the Gaussian laser pulses after acousto-optic modulation, discusses the characteristics of contemporary dispersion-compensating techniques for the acousto-optic modulation of femtosecond laser, and finally refers to the challenges of this technique.

The spectacular scenery of Glacier National Park is the result of glacial erosion as well as post-glacial mass wasting *** flow magnitude and frequency have been established through extensive fieldwork across seven separate drainage basins in the eastern portion of the *** paper summarizes the investigation of the hypotheses that debris flow distribution in the Glacier National Park,east of the Continental Divide is(a)not random;and(b)concentrated adjacent to the Continental *** location of 2317 debris flows were identified and mapped from sixty-three 1-m resolution Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles and their spatial distribution was then analyzed using ArcView Spatial Analyst GIS *** GIS analysis showed that the debris flows are not randomly distributed nor are they concentrated directly adjacent to the *** the Continental Divide provides orographic enhancement of precipitation directly adjacent to the Divide,the debris flows are not concentrated there due to a lack of available weathered *** most recent little Ice Age glaciation removed the debris directly adjacent to the Divide,and without an adequate debris supply,these steep slopes experience few debris *** abundant water and an adequate debris supply are necessary to initiate slope failure,resulting in a clustering of debris flows at the break in slope where valley walls contact talus slopes.A variety of summer storm and antecedent moisture conditions initiate slope failures in the Glacier National Park,with no distinct meteorological *** over two million visitors every year,and millions of dollars of park infrastructure at risk,identifying the hazard of debris flows is essential to future park management plans.

According to the cross coupling theorem of atmospheric turbulence, latent heat flux comprises two components, a vertical humidity gradient flux and a coupling flux of vertical velocity. In this paper, observational data are employed to demonstrate and analyze the coupling effect of vertical velocity on latent heat flux. The results highlight the presence of a coupling zero-effect height. When the observational level exceeds or underlies the coupling zero-effect height, the coupling effect suppresses or enhances the latent heat flux, respectively. Above the heterogeneous terrain in the experimental region, the overall difference between the estimated and the observed latent heat fluxes decreases from 27% to 2% (for ascending flow) and from 47% to 28% (for descending flow), after compensating for gradient flux. The coupling theorem of atmospheric turbulence is well validated by our analysis, supporting a role for experimental datasets in unraveling the mysteries of atmospheric turbulence.

Deformation behaviors of Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si alloys with α/β lamellar structure were investigated systematically at different temperatures from room temperature to 950 ~C and different strain rates. Results reveal that when the deformation temperature is higher than a critical temperature of 600℃, an evident transition of deformation behavior from localized shear banding to α/β lamella kinking, flow softening and temperature/strain rate-dependent peak flow stress occurred in the alloy. The critical conditions for the occurrence of internal cracking and strain localization behavior associated with temperature and strain rate were determined.

Couples with a spinal cord injured male partner require assisted ejaculation techniques to collect semen that can then be further used in various assisted reproductive technology methods to achieve a pregnancy. The majority of men sustaining a spinal cord injury regardless of the cause or the level of injury cannot ejaculate during sexual intercourse. Only a small minority can ejaculate by masturbation. Penile vibratory stimulation and electroejaculation are the two most common methods used to retrieve sperm. Other techniques such as prostatic massage and the adjunct application of other medications can be used, but the results are inconsistent. Surgical sperm retrieval should be considered as a last resort if all other methods fail. Special attention must be paid to patients with T6 and rostral levels of injury due to the risk of autonomic dysreflexia resulting from stimulation below the level of injury. Bladder preparation should be performed before stimulation if retrograde ejaculation is anticipated. Erectile dysfunction is ubiquitous in the spinal cord injured population but is usually easily managed and does not pose a barrier to semen retrieval in these men. Semen analysis parameters of men with spinal cord injury are unique for this population regardless of the method of retrieval, generally presenting as normal sperm concentration but abnormally low sperm motility and viability. When sperm retrieval is desired in this population, emphasis should be placed on initially trying the simple methods of penile vibratory stimulation or electroejaculation before resorting to more advanced and invasive surgical procedures.

Chinese herbal medicine for subacute thyroiditis:a systematic review of randomized controlled trials

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) in the ***: Randomized controlled trials found in PubMed, Cochrane library, and three Chinese databases were selected. RevMan 5.2 software was used to analyze the data with relative risk or mean difference, expressed with 95% of confidence interval. The quality of trials was assessed and gradedthe quality of evidence with GRADE profiler ***: Twenty one studies were included. CHM was superior to Western Medicine(include prednisone and NSAIDs) in abating fever, relieving thyroid pain, recovering blood sedimentation, improving thyroid function, and preventing hypothyroidism(Ple no statistical differences were found in eliminating goiter and reducing relapse *** plusWestern Medicine were superior toWestern Medicine in abating fever, relieving thyroid pain, eliminating goiter, and reducing relapse rate,while no statistical differences(P>0.05) were found in recovering blood sedimentation and improving thyroid function. The incidence of adverse reactions in treatment group was lower than that in control group(relative risk was 0.12 and 95% confidence interval was 0.03-0.51). The methodological quality of trials is generally poor with a high risk of ***: CHM(particularly CHM combined withWestern Medicine) used to treat subacute thyroiditis may improve clinical symptoms and signs,reduce relapse rate, and alleviate the side effects of hormones. Due to poor methodological quality of included trials, further more high-quality studies are warranted to confirm the effectiveness and safety of CHM.

The damage effects of water sorption on the mechanical properties of the hydroxyapatite particle reinforced Bis-GMA/TEGDMA copolymer （HA/Bis-GMA/TEGDMA） h-ave been predicted using 3D finite cell models. The plasticizer effect on the polymer matrix was considered as a variation of its Young＇s modulus. Three different cell models were used to determine the influence of varying particle contents, interphase strength and moisture concentration on the debonding damage. The stress distribution pattern has been examined and the stress transfer mode clarified. The Young＇s modulus and fracture strength of the Bis-GMA/TEGDMA composite were also predicted using the model with and without consideration of the damage. ine Iormer results with consideration of the debonding damage are in good agreement with existing literature experimental data. The shielding effect of our proposed model and an alternative approach were discussed. The FCC cell model has also been extended to predict the critical load for the damaged and the undamaged composite subject to the 3-point flexural test.
