Visnagin is a furanochromone and one of the most important compound in the Ammi visnaga(l.)lam(a synonym of Visnaga daucoides Gaertn.)plant,which is used to cure various *** investigations into the bioactive properties of visnagin have been studied to *** literature on visnagin demonstrates its biological properties,including anti-inflammatory,anti-diabetic,and beneficial effects in cardiovascular and renal ***,visnagin improves sperm quality parameters,stimulates steroidogenesis,and increases serum gonadotropins and testosterone levels,while decreasing proinflammatory cytokines,oxidative damage,genomic instability,and it modulates ***,visnagin has emerged as an exciting lead for further research,owing to its potential in various unmet clinical *** current review summarized its basic structure,pharmacokinetics,and pharmacological effects,focusing on its mechanisms of *** review will help to understand the potential of visnagin as an alternative treatment strategy for several diseases and provide insight into research topics that need further exploration for visnagin’s safe clinical use.

A retrospective analysis of pain and opioid usage in head and neck free flap reconstruction

Objectives:Investigate opioid usage and postoperative pain in patients undergoing head and neck free flap ***:A retrospective review of 100 consecutive patients undergoing head and neck free flap reconstruction at two academic centers was *** captured included demographics,postoperative inpatient pain,pain at postoperative visits,morphine equivalent doses(meDs)administration,medication history,and *** were analyzed using regression models,χ2 tests,and student’’***:seventy-three percent of patients were discharged with opioid medication,with over half(53.4%)continuing to take opioids at their second postoperative visit,and over one-third(34.2%)continuing to take them around 4-month *** out of every five(20.3%)opioid-na?ve patients chronically took opioids *** was a poor association between inpatient postoperative pain scores and daily meDs administered(r2=0.13,0.17,and 0.22 in postoperative Days 3,5,and 7,respectively).Neither preoperative radiotherapy nor postoperative complications were associated with an increase in opioid ***:For patients undergoing head and neck free flap operations,opioid medications are commonly used for postoperative *** practice may increase the chance an opioid-na?ve patient uses opioids *** found a poor association between meDs administered and patient-reported pain scores,which suggests that standardized protocols aimed at optimizing analgesia while reducing opioid administration may be *** of evidence:3(retrospective cohort study).

Chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection is associated with multifarious extra-hepatic manifestations;the most described and discussed being mixed cryoglob-ulinemia which is strongly related to B-cell lympho-proliferative disorders(lpDs).We present a case of chronic HCV infection and mixed cryoglobulinemia,with minimal liver *** case is a 53-year-old patient who was diagnosed as having bone marrow hypoplasia at the age of *** received several blood transfusions to normalize her *** the age of 31,she was diagnosed with rheumatoid ar-thritis on account of her diffuse joint pain and inflam-mation,elevated rheumatoid factor(rF) and raynaud's *** years later,monoclonal gam-mopathy of IgG lambda(one year later,changed to Igm Kappa) was detected during a routine examina-tion.A bone marrow biopsy showed hypoplasia,Kappa positive B-lymphocytes and low-grade malignant lym-phoma *** of the bone marrow aspirate was not *** treatment was initiated owing to herpoor bone marrow function and she is under regular follow-up.

sexual selection is widespread if not ubiquitous in hermaphroditic organisms. Although many phenomena that have been described as sexual selection in gonochores, （e.g. harem polygamy, multiple mating, elaborate courtship, even secondary sexual characters） can be found in some hermaphrodites, what is more interesting is the ways in which sexual selection in her- maphrodites may differ from dioecious taxa. In hermaphrodites, an individual＇s mating success includes its success from both sexual roles. secondly, in many simultaneously hermaphroditic taxa there is strong evidence of sexual selection and yet the ope- rational sex ratio is 1：1, by definition. many simultaneous hermaphrodites have elaborate courtship and genital anatomy, suggest- ing sexual selection plays an important role in reproductive success. sperm competition and cryptic female choice mean that the number of mates acquired is not necessarily a predictor of reproductive success. even in simultaneous hermaphrodites with re- ciprocal mating, variance in reproductive success through the male role and through the female role may differ in a population. moreover hermaphrodites may choose to emphasize one sexual role over the other. Data suggest that the preferred role varies in hermaphrodites, which creates an opportunity to test fundamental predictions and assumptions of sexual selection theory. Hermaphrodites may vary their emphasis on one sexual role over the other either developmentally or behaviorally in response to environmental or social parameters. How they use this capability in acquiring more or higher quality mates still requires study

Two silkworm strains viz, B20 A (high cocoon shell ratio) and *** (low cocoon shell ratio) were sib mated for 10 generations to determine the homozygosis. Both bulked segregant analysis(BsA) and near isogenic lines (NIl) studies were done to identify the rFlp markers closely linked to cocoon shell parameters. Three hundred and fifty two random clones were identified as the low copy number sequence and used for identification of restriction Fragment length polymorphic (rFlp) marker linked to cocoon weight and cocoon shell character. In the bulk segregant analysis, DNA from the parents (B20 A, ***), F 1 and F 2 progeny of high shell ratio (Hsr) and low shell ratio (lsr) were screened for hybridization with the random clones. polymorphic banding pattern achieved through southern hybridization with different probes indicated the probable correlation of polymorphism with high and low cocoon shell character which are possible landmarks in identifying the putative marker(s) for the cocoon shell character. Out of the 100 probes tried with parents, F 1, F 2 and their bulks, 10 probes were found to be closely linked to cocoon shell characters.

AIm: To study the mechanism of antimigraine activity of Tanacetum parthenium ( Feverfew), its extracts and parthenolide, a component of Feverfew, by observing their effect on 5-HT storage and release, and stimulation of 5-HT2B and 5-HT2A receptors. Also to standardize a dosage form of Feverfew with respect to its parthenolide content. meTHODs: Isometric responses to 5-HT and an indirect acting serotonergic, d-fenfluramine, were obtained on rat fundus and ileum. In one set of experiments the effect of dichloromethane extract of Feverfew and parthenolide was observed on the above. The extract was then thermally degraded upto 10 %, 23 %, and 33 % with respect to its parthenolide content by keeping at 60℃ and 75 % relative humidity and the experiments were repeated. In another set of experiments rats were fed with 20 mg/kg Feverfew powder (equivalent to a human dose of 500 μg parthenolide per day) for 30 d or were ip injected with parthenolide (23.4 μg/day) for 7 d. Background:Glaucoma patients undergoing phacoemulsification alone have a higher rate of refractive surprise compared to patients without *** risk is further increased with combined filtering ***,there are few and conflicting reports on the effect of combined phacoemulsification and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery(mIGs).Here,we look at refractive outcomes of glaucoma patients undergoing phacoemulsification with and without Kahook Dual Blade(KDB)***:retrospective chart review of 385 glaucomatous eyes of 281 patients,which underwent either phacoemulsification alone(n=309)or phacoemulsification with KDB goniotomy(n=76,phaco-KDB)at the University of *** main outcome was refractive surprise defined as the difference in target and postoperative refraction spherical equivalent greater than±0.5 Diopter(D).results:refractive surprise greater than±0.5 D occurred in 26.3%of eyes in the phaco-KDB group and 36.2%in the phacoemulsification group(p=0.11).refractive surprise greater than±1.0 D occurred in 6.6%for the phacoKDB group and 9.7%for the phacoemulsification group(p=0.08).There was no significant difference in risk of refractive surprise when pre-operative IOp,axial length,keratometry or performance of KDB goniotomy were assessed in univariate ***:There was no difference between refractive outcomes of glaucomatous patients undergoing phacoemulsification with or without KDB goniotomy.

There is growing recognition that neutrophils play an important role in cancer initiation, progression and metastasis. Although they are typically characterized as short-lived effector cells, neutrophils have been shown to acquire immunosuppressive and pro-tumorigenic functions that promote tumor progression and escape. As such, inhibition of their function or depletion of neutrophils are being explored as potential cancer therapies. However, growing evidence of neutrophil diversification in cancer and their potential anti-tumor roles raise many unresolved questions. Here, we review recent advances that address the definition,origin and function of neutrophils in cancer, and elaborate on obstacles that make the study of neutrophils challenging. We envision that this review will provide the groundwork for focused design of therapeutics that will specifically target "tumorreprogrammed" neutrophils while sparing normal neutrophils to improve patient outcomes.
