Reviewing the empirical and theoretical parameter relationships between various parameters is a good way to understand more about contact binary *** this investigation,two-dimensional(2D)relationships for P–MV(system),P–l1,2,M1,2–l1,2,and q–lratiowere *** sample used is related to 118 contact binary systems with an orbital period shorter than 0.6 days whose absolute parameters were estimated based on the Gaia Data Release 3 *** reviewed previous studies on 2D relationships and updated six parameter ***,Markov chain Monte Carlo and Machine learning methods were used,and the outcomes were *** selected 22 contact binary systems from eight previous studies for comparison,which had light curve solutions using spectroscopic *** results show that the systems are in good agreement with the results of this study.

The first photometric light curve investigation of the NSVS 8294044,V1023 Her,and V1397 Her binary systems is *** used ground-based observations for the NSVS 8294044 system and Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite data for V1023 Her and V1397 *** primary and secondary times of minima were extracted from al the data,and,by collecting the literature,a new ephemeris was computed for each *** fits for the O-C diagrams were conducted using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) *** curve solutions were performed using the PHysics Of Eclipsing BinariEs Python code and the MCMC *** systems were found to be contact binary stars based on the fillout factor and mass ratio.V1023 Her showed the O’Connell effect and a cold starspot on the secondary component was required for the light curve *** absolute parameters of the system were estimated based on an empirical relationship between orbital period and *** presented a new T–M equation based on a sample of 428 contact binary systems and found that our three target systems were in good agreement with the *** positions of the systems were also depicted on the M–l,M–R,q–l_(ratio),and M_(tot)–J_(0)diagrams in the logarithmic scales.

During recent years,atmospheric water generation(AWG)has garnered significant attention among researchers as a viable solution to the water-scarcity ***,AWG requires dehumidification,which includes two main principles of refrigeration and *** refrigeration methods,thermoelectric coolers are suitable and,among sorption methods,it is best to utilize desiccant materials with high sorption capacity and low heat *** the present study,a portable hybrid/integrated solar AWG system was designed and tested under realistic conditions of Babol,Iran(36.5387°N,52.6765°E)over four typical summer days between 14 and 31 August *** models(Models A and B)were designed and ***,relative humidity,solar irradiance and water-production data were recorded to assess the system performance(*** ratio between the generated water and consumed power in ml/***)and economically analyse the *** on the results acquired,the maximum water production in the proposed configuration(acquired from Model B)was 2.12 l/m^(2).day at an average relative humidity and a temperature of 52%and 36°C,*** desired AWG system had a system performance of 0.19 ml/***,annual water production of 774.4 l/m^(2),production cost of 0.0246$/l/m^(2)and a payback period of 1.19 years.

The interaction of human serum albumin with divalent nickel ion was studied by equilibrium dialysis, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and circular dichroism (CD) in 30 mmol/l Tris buffer , pH=7 0. There is a set of 8 identical binding sites for nickel binding on the protein at two temperatures of 300 K and 310 K. The cooperativity in the binding is observed at 310 K. The Hill coefficients at 300 K and 310 K are 0 97 and 1 25, respectively. The interaction between nickel ions and HSA is exothermic. A value of -36 5 kJ for enthalpy of interaction ( 1∶1 stoichiometry) was obtained. The secondary structure of HSA dose not show any change during the binding nickel ions process. However, the tertiary structure of the protein changes, which shows the existence of two natives like states.

AIM： To study the effect of a one-year lamivudine regimen in patients with chronic hepatitis B. METHODS： Medical records of HBeAg negative hepatitis B patients who attended a hepatitis clinic in Tehran between March 2002-March 2004 were evaluated. The patients received 100 mg lamivudine tablets once daily for at least 12 mo. liver enzymes and complete blood count were checked at baseline and the end of treatment （12th mo） and 6 mo after discontinuation of treatment. RESUlTS： Of all patients, 24 were excluded. Of 71 patients left, 58 （81.7%） were men. Mean age of the patients was 38 ± 14 years. Mean level of AlT in serum was 1437 ± 205 nkat/l at baseline with a significant reduction at the end of treatment to a mean level of 723 ± 92 nkat/l （P = 0.002）. In 38 patients （53.5%）, the AlT level was normal after one-year treatment. Five patients （7.3%） relapsed （biochemically） within 6 mo after discontinuing lamivudine therapy （the patients with good end of treatment response）. Mean level of AST in serum was 1060 ± 105 nkat/l at baseline which decreased significantly to 652 ± 75 nkat/l at the end of treatment （P = 0.002）. CONClUSION： Over half （53.5%） of chronic hepatitis B patients with HBeAg negative have normal liver enzyme level at 12-mo lamivudine therapy.

Use of mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria for the improvement of copper extraction from a low-grade ore

Bioleaching was examined for copper extraction from a low grade ore using mesophilic and moderate thermophilic bacteria. Five equal size columns were used for the leaching of the ore. Sulfuric acid solution with a flow rate of 3.12 l·m-2·h-1 and pH 1.5 passed through each column continuously for 90 d. In the first and the second column, bioleaching was performed without agglomeration of the ore and on the agglomerated ore, respectively. 28wt% of the copper was extracted in the first column after 40 d, while this figure was 38wt% in the second column. After 90 d, however, the overall extractions were almost the same for both of them. Bioleaching with mesophilic bacteria was performed in the third column without agglomeration of the ore and in the fourth column on the agglomerated ore. After 40 d, copper extractions in the third and the fourth columns were 62wt% and 70wt%, respectively. Copper extractions were 75wt% for both the columns after 90 d. For the last column, bioleaching was performed with moderate thermophilic bacteria and agglomerated ore. Copper extractions were 80wt% and 85wt% after 40 and 90 d, respectively. It was concluded that crushing and agglomeration of the ore using bacteria could enhance the copper extraction considerably.

Background： lipid-lowering effect ofRhus coriaria l. （Rhus） has been investigated in multiple animal stud- ies with promising results. Nonetheless, its clinical efficacy has not been adequately examined. Objective： The aim of this study was to evaluate the lipid-lowering effects of Rhus among patients with hyperlipidemia. Design, setting, participants and interventions： The study was designed as a two-arm, double-blind placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial, using a parallel design. Eighty patients with primary hyper- lipidemia were randomly assigned to receive Rhus capsules or placebo for 6 weeks. Main outcome measures： The serum lipid levels, apolipoprotein-A1 （Apo-A1） and apolipoprotein-B （Apo-B） were measured. Results： Mean serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDl-C） and Apo-Al levels were significantly increased in the Rhus group, compared with the placebo group, after 6 weeks of intervention （P= 0.001）. The analysis of covariance test including age, gender, body mass index （BMI）, and smoking as co-variables revealed that the increase in HDl-C and Apo-A1 levels remained significant, and increases in HDl-C were dependent on the increase in Apo-A1 levels. No significant difference was observed between Rhus and placebo groups in terms of mean reductions in total cholesterol, low-density lipopro- tein cholesterol and triglyceride levels; however, more significant improvement was observed among obese patients （BMI≥ 30 kg/m^2）. Conclusion： The study showed significant increases in HDl-C and Apo-Al levels in response to Rhus sup- plementation in patients with hyperlipidemia. Trial registration： *** ID： NCT02295293.

Antimicrobial susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori strains isolated from patients in Shiraz, Southern Iran

AIM: To improve our understanding of Iranian regional variation in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori ) antibiotic resistance rates to find the best antibiotic therapy for eradication of H. pylori ***: A total of 266 patients undergoing endoscopy in Shiraz, Southern Iran, were included in this study. H. pylori strains were isolated from antral biopsies by culture and confirmed by the rapid urease-test and gram staining. Antibiotic susceptibility of H. pylori isolates was determined by ***: A total of 121 H. pylori strains were isolated, 50 from male and 71 from female patients. Data showed that 44% (n = 53), 20% (n = 24), 5% (n = 6), and 3% (n = 4) of all strains were resistant to the antibiotics metronidazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and tetracycline, respectively. When the antibiotics were considered together we found 11 sensitivity patterns for the strains. Resistance to metronidazole was significantly higher in female than in male patients (P le-resistant isolates, the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) exceeded 256 μg/***: We found a moderate rate of primary resistance to metronidazole. However, a high MIC (> 256 mg/l) which was found in 71% of the isolates is considerable. In the case of amoxicillin, an increased resistance rate of 20% is worrying. Resistance to clarithromycin and tetracycline is also emerging among the H. pylori strains in our region.
