First report of l1014F kdr mutation in Culex quinquefasciatus in Mexico

The l1014F mutation in the voltage-sodium channel gene has been associated with resistance to DDT and pyrethroids in various arthropod species including mosquitoes. We determined the frequency of the l1014F kdr mutation in 16 field populations of Culex quinquefasciatus from Northeastern Mexico collected between 2008 and 2013. The l1014F was present in all populations analyzed with the lowest frequency （3.33%） corresponding to the population from Monclova collected in 2012, and the highest frequency （63.63%） from the Monterrey population collected in 2012. The presence of a kdr mutation in populations of Cx. quinquefasciatus from northeastern Mexico provides evidence ofpyrethroid resistance. This requires a special attention, considering that pyrethroid-based insecticides are commonly used in vector-control campaigns, especially against Aedes aegypti （l.）.

Background:Meeting the 24-Hour Movement guidelines(physical activity,screen time,and sleep duration) has been associated with positive health ***,there are no previous meta-analyses that have examined the overall adherence to the 24-Hour Movement guidelines from pre-school to adolescence across the ***,the main purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the overall(non)adherence to the 24-Hour Movement guidelines among preschoolers,children,and adolescents ***:Four electronic databases(MEDlINE,Scopus,Web of Science,and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews) were searched for quantitative studies published in Spanish and English between January 2016 and May *** that were conducted with apparently healthy participants and reported the overall(non)adherence to the 24-Hour Movement guidelines in preschoolers and/or children and/or adolescents were ***:Sixty-three studies comprising 387,437 individuals(51% girls) aged 3-18 years from 23 countries were ***,7.12%(95%confidence interval(95%CI):6.45%-7.78%) of youth met all three 24-Hour Movement guidelines,and 19.21%(95%CI:16.73%-21.69%)met none of the 3 *** sex,adherence to all recommendations was significantly lower in girls(3.75%,95%CI:3.23%-4.27%) than in boys(6.89%,95%CI:5.89%-7.89%)(p garding adherence to any of the 3 individual recommendations(girls,15.66%,95%CI:8.40%-22.92%;boys,12.95%,95%CI:6.57%-19.33%).In terms of age group,adherence to the 3 recommendations was 11.26%(95%CI:8.68%-13.84%),10.31%(95%CI:7.49%-13.12%),and 2.68%(95%CI:1.78%-3.58%) in preschoolers,children,and adolescents,***,8.81%(95%CI:5.97%-11.64%) of preschoolers,15.57%(95%CI:11.60%-19.54%) of children,and 28.59%(95%CI:22.42%-34.75%) of adolescents did not meet any of the *** America was the region with the lowest adherence(all:2.93%;none:3

In this work, we consider a homotopic principle for solving large-scale and dense l1underdetermined problems and its applications in image processing and classification. We solve the face recognition problem where the input image contains corrupted and/or lost pixels. The approach involves two steps: first, the incomplete or corrupted image is subject to an inpainting process, and secondly, the restored image is used to carry out the classification or recognition task. Addressing these two steps involves solving large scale l1minimization problems. To that end, we propose to solve a sequence of linear equality constrained multiquadric problems that depends on a regularization parameter that converges to zero. The procedure generates a central path that converges to a point on the solution set of the l1underdetermined problem. In order to solve each subproblem, a conjugate gradient algorithm is formulated. When noise is present in the model, inexact directions are taken so that an approximate solution is computed faster. This prevents the ill conditioning produced when the conjugate gradient is required to iterate until a zero residual is attained.

AIM： To characterize hyperlactatemia in patients with non-acetaminophen acute liver failure （AlF） in an attempt to clarify the mechanisms implicated and the role as a prognosis factor. METHODS： In the setting of liver transplantation, 63 consecutive patients with non-acetaminophen acute liver failure were studied in relation to tissue oxygenation, hemodynamic and metabolic parameters. Before and after transplantation, the number of infected patients and outcome were registered. RESUlTS： Acute AlF showed higher levels of lactate than subacute AlF （5.4 ± 1 mmol/l versus 2.2 ± 0.6 mmol/l, P= 0.01）. Oxygenation parameters were within the normal range. lactate levels showed good correlation with respiratory quotient （r=0.759, P〈 0.005）, mean glucose administration （r= 0.664, P= 0.01） and encephalopathy （r= 0.698, P= 0.02）, but not with splanchnic arteriovenous difference in PCO2, pH and the presence of infection （P=0.1）. Portal vein lactate was higher （P〈0.05） than arterial and mixed venous lactate, suggesting its production of hyperlactatemia in the intestine and spleen. The presence of infection was an independent predictor of survival. CONClUSION： Hyperlactatemia is not a prognosis factor due to byproduct of the overall acceleration in glycolysis.

The aim of the study was to contribute to the information on agave soluble fibers since research has been focused on chicory fiber but not in agave products;thus we assess the acute toxicity and genotoxicity of two organic and high purity dietary soluble fibers from agave, Metlin? and Metlos?. We performed an acute toxicity assay in Hsd:ICR mice and Hsd:Wistar rats and an in vivo genotoxic test. Results showed that there are no deaths at any doses or genotoxicity, so it can be concluded that these products are non-toxic, at the administrated doses and none showed a cytotoxic, clastogenic or aneuploidic effect.

For knowing the effect that causes the extract from the leaves of the cedar (Cedrela odorata l.) in termites (Reticulitermes sp.) that affecting rooms, libraries, racks, fence posts and all articles wood source, considering the hypothesis that the extract from the leaves of the cedar is a substance that it makes termites die at a certain time, which makes it possible to use the extract as a biological insecticide that does not harm the environment and influencing the sustainable management of the rooms and many articles wood source. Termites were reared in a greenhouse in susceptible consumption and suitable for reproduction wood, of where the termites were collected and placed in petri dishes toguether with the remains of wood that contained. The application of the extract was done with a manual atomizer, sprinkling it on termites and wood waste, using 20 ml per petri dish and then counted the seconds until termites immovilized or dead in a 100%. Cedar extract acted as insecticide on termites but of all doses tested 5.0 g of leaves per 500 ml of water was the that caused the termites died in a few seconds after application under laboratory conditions.

This paper presents an eutrophication diagnosis for the San Pedro-Mezquital basin at Mexico;procedure accounted to set up 10 sampling points distributed along the river pathway, sample collection was done at two extreme conditions: rainy season and dry season. Five parameters were analyzed in this work: pH, % Dissolved Oxygen, reactive phosphorus, and nitrogen species as nitrate and ammonia compounds. Obtained concentrations were statistically analyzed to establish if there were significant differences among sites and between seasons;being the dry season the one with higher nutrient content, ammonia can be considered statistical significance due to the total values found for each season. Calculation of the Karydis eutrophication index for each parameter showed that more damaged sites were those nearby the cities, and most of the sampled sites belonged to the eutrophic category.

This article describes a study on a non-thermal plasma device to treat exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine. Several tests using a plasma device to treat exhaust gases are conducted on a Honda gX200- 196 cm3 engine at different rotational speeds. A plasma reactor could be efficient in degrading nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Monoxide and carbon dioxide treatment is minimal. However, achieving 1%-3% degradation may be interesting to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
